    Would you have to set the accuracy to 1’ increments to have the snaps at one foot?

    cool this is a lot more efficient when simple modeling. thanks for the post

    You mentioned that "it's not a grid." It would be nice if we DID have a grid in some cases. Is there a way to do that?

      Ken Haley There is an extension that will create a grid of lines on a given plane... I think it may be called “Grid”

    Exelente tus presentaciones y la forma de mostrar paso a paso los procedimientos. Es posible obtenerlas en español, mi ingles es muy rudimentario y me pierdo muchos detalles. Muchas gracias.

    Me and many would appreciate a lot if somebody could make a video about how to use well sketchup to build mesh things for Second Life. Some SL residents prefer Blender instead, but many of us find this software complicated. I like how easy is Sketchup, but...

    • @AaronMakingStuff
      @AaronMakingStuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be something that i would have to look into. I would imagine it is as simple as building the mesh you need, then exporting in a file format that Second Life will accept.

      @@AaronMakingStuff Well, more or less the most difficult part is the reduction of triangles and geometry and the physics, because avatars need that to walk over or through the buildings and, inside SL, not all prims become walkable if geomeftry is bad or have failures. Most often, people acostum to Blender do build in Sketchup quick then use Blender to fix geometry and export the colladas (of the building and physics file) but means double or triple work. I like how sketchup work with textures, but, again, most f creators prefer Blender to make textures more realistic, so, then some use the contrary way, doing the texture in Blender and place it or them (if few) in the faces of the building. In sketchup is easy see anverse and reverse faces of an object, but in Blender is hard at least for me and many others. I understand there are or were some widget or app to export from Sketchup to Blender but in paid version. Most of users in SL we use the free version, with less tools and only creativity to solve troubles. And not only to create buildings but other stuff like furnitures and Jewelry, fr example.

      I am interested in this too.
      Have you done any tutorials?

    What i was actually weirded out by sketch-up is that you cannot simply use the cursor keys on the keyboard to go left-right-up-down, i mean this sounds like a basic, instead you need to press H to get the pan-up and only then with the mouse you can go all directions, i hope they change this.
    But thanks for the model info stuff, i didn't knew about it, i was fighting against the centimeters it always jumped 5.02 then 4.99, and never 5 grrrrr. Another thing i don't like is that i would like an option to turn the measuring device automatically into the line setting after you made your measurement, in real life you also measure ,and then grab your pencil, i would like to see this also in Sketch-up.

      Not sure what the issue might be, Ray. Your best bet is to post on our forum (forums.sketchup.com) where you can post files and get more interactive feedback that we can offer through TH-cam comments.

      After you group your walls, make a new rectangle with the appropriate overhangs.
      Push/Pull that up alot.
      Get your protractor out and angle up 45 degrees from the appropriate edges.
      Draw lines where you want those angles to be.
      Push/Pull the bits that you don't want off.

    This is how I Always start... Though I work on a 2" module to start, then sometimes drop to a 1/2" module. There's almost never a need to work on a 1/16" module in Residential construction.

    • @AaronMakingStuff
      @AaronMakingStuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the past, if I were modeling framing, I would use 1/16" as that was the finest dimension I would want to deal with.
