Movie Trailer - "The Pilot" - 1979

Trailer for the film concerning an alcoholic airline pilot.
The lead played here by Cliff Robertson, who was an avid pilot.
The aircraft is an ex-United DC-8-21, masquerading as "North American Airlines".
Although the film did not do well at the box office, I HIGHLY reccomend it, because it's probably the most REALISTIC of all "Air Disaster" films, which of course, is why it didn't do well. :-(

"The Pilot" The best movie of its kind I have ever seen! The subject of the film is of great importance. Cockpit procedure is right on the mark. The relationship between the pilot and his daughter is heartwarming...but he has a very serious problem....which could kill him and the passengers for which he is responsible.
Cliff Robertson, a top rated pilot himself stars in and directs this motion picture. The co-stars are equally strong in their performances.
This production was made for the big screen but because of alleged legal problems, the picture was limited to television release.

I don't think so.

@@philmontejano5971 Yep. The DC-8 didn't have speed brakes for use in flight, so they could put #s 2 and 3 into idle reverse in flight.

I didn't know they keep gasoline in those small runway shacks...I will watch though, I'm sure no CGI and gratuitous;ous sound effects..

looks like a bit of a laugher but tighter scrutiny post 9/11 has led to fewer pilots flying ummm buzzzed and now flying has never been safer.....
