Thank you for the video. Brought back many memories. Of course back then Qantas only flew internationally, TAA and Ansett were domestic.

no viewing deck now because muslims live in Melbourne now and there's a risk they might create problems

Fantastic! If you have any footage of the inside of the airport I'd love to see that too.

We arrived in Melbourne 1976, I was 6yrs old.... I remember parts of it, also remember the viewing platform as we went back to Tulla in late 70s & early 80s & then I worked on a project 2019-22 & the platform is still there, I was standing on the roof you see on video looking back (you can't take photos due to security issues)

Nice work. Your father should be proud. By 1976 I wondered if my flying days were over, Despite flying in and out of Essendon Airport numerous times during the 60's, in 1976 it had been five years since I had flown out of Tulla for the first and only time. It was not until 2018 I commenced flying again out of Tulla on a regular basis, interestingly enough to that same island state I flew to so many times in the 1960's. Your footage reminds the viewer of how Tulla used to be - the planes were almost "touchable" - just like they still are at the two airports I fly to on that island state.

Thanks for sharing your recollections. I am so happy that my Dad made this video back in 1976 and it's great to have the Internet to share with others.

Thank you for uploading this video, it bought back many great memories. Also, what is the music you have used as background, it's a great tune !!

Thankyou. There are two tunes in the video. The first one is called Prairie Bound and the second one is Eternity.

Spent many an evening there watching planes or sitting inside having a meal. That was 1974-76 back to UK on the British Airways Jumbo. Back in 86 much expanded and free parking if you knew where to go. Did same things at London Heathrow. Then came hijacking and security closed most of this down. Now with parking costs it's too costly and poor viewing.
