6 Days Until Surgery! | Ostomy Countdown

6 days until my life permanently changes, and I am still struggling to fully accept that this is reality. I've been living a bit in a dissociative bubble in which the days pass and I really don't feel any of this is real. It's how my brain typically deals with major surgeries, it shuts down to protect my mental health I suppose. I have a lot of fears, but I'm not letting those fears control me. I'm in a place where I fully believe I deserve to heal, I deserve to not be in pain 24/7, I deserve to live the life I always dreamed. And truly I cannot get there without this surgery. Things continue to progress so rapidly I didn't even know how much worse it could get. But, that's just more evidence as to the necessity of this procedure.
