Seduces and eat men.(In this case stallions.) Drinks their blood and eats their flesh. While being a servant of Hecate. But.. the twist is she wasn't born one. She was turned into one and can go back to her Pegasus self after working off labors in order to repay the debt she owes for Hecate saving her life. She also doesn't eat or seduce stallions, that's just gross. She simply kills animal and does uses that.
I can't speak for everyone on this, but I know that I chose a Pony OC because I have more knowledge on the Pony culture than any other species presented in the show. Since the show focuses primarily on ponies, we get to see more of what their daily life is like, what kinds of morals they uphold, and what sorts of things have cultural significance to them. It's a lot easier to come up with a character that can be placed in an already-existing way of life, instead of coming up with an entirely new one yourself. Plus, for lack of a better word, it's safer. If the show were to suddenly expand on Griffon culture, for example, it could mean that a key element to a Griffon OC's backstory, personality, etc. would no longer be canon-friendly. With ponies, it's much easier to stay in canonical context, and it's unlikely that your entire character will fall apart in the future because of a huge cultural revamp. But that's just my reasoning, and it could be completely wrong. :P
Claire I. There's also people who make their own background on non pony culture that's actually very legit. My friend created a pony changeling hybrid that has such an immense past it's amazing! The only fanfic currently posted online, that character is unfortunately kinda a side character/secondary character and her backstory isn't touched on, but the changeling culture that my friend created is so extensive and I'd say accurate based on insects 😄

For me, I crated a wolf pony hybrid, and created a story behind the hybrid origins. if any non-pony species was canonly common, the fanbase would want to use them, and have a good reason for their oc to be in equestria.

I've been designing my hybrid (Sphinx) OC for a long time but still wasnt happy with it because I thought that if I show it to people, they will start hating because its too unique. Thats one of the reasons I think theres so little non-pony OCs around. Other reason could be that people just dont realise that they can be more creative about their OCs so they just stick to usual Unicorn/Pegasus/Earth.
My OC is based off of a character in the book that I am currently writing. She is technically the same character but just living in a parallel universe (Equestria). She (like the original character) is half dragon. So since she's originally from a book (of my own making) there's been A LOT of thought put into her backstory, personality, appearance, etc. However, her name could be better (since she's in an alternate universe, her name is not the same). My profile name is the same as the character from my book, but my OC's name is Ember Flametongue....

I have a non-pony oc. It's kinda like a reindeer but not. She has straight horns and they don't have extra branches. And she has a dear tail. But her colors are browns, greens and pink. I also have another one who is a changling who takes the form of a pony because she doesn't like living as a changling.
I think that there aren't many OC's out side of the main three categories because any thing outside of that is considered OP changelings can turn into any thing they want and that zebras can make OP potions other species could be considered the same

She also has a cutiemark-like marking of a pawprint on her side (But it's not actually a cutiemark)

She didn't like feasting off of anger like her sisters and brothers though so she left her herd and found a cave near the changeling hive. But one day her hunger took over when she could sense anger in the changeling hive she rode the clouds and made her way to the hive, but as soon as she got there she saw a massive explosion of love (from Thorax's transformation.) When she saw the first site of a reformed changeling she was never the same, she swore she would never feast on anger again. As she flew back to her cave she saw a crystal shard from the queen's throne had landed in her cave. When she put one hoof on the shard a blizzard swerlled around her and when she looked at the reflection on her cave walls she was amazed. She had been transformed into a Pegasus. From that day on she lived in ponyville telling no one her secret (but she stills rides the clouds as a windigo from time to time.) But one day she hopes she can find a friend and tell him/her her dark secret.
You have officially made this the most productive day of my life. I spent half the day watching your videos, (but wait! there's more!) and after I stumbled across this video, I thought to myself, "Well,,, I have had an idea for a couple ocs lately," So, there we have it, the birth of my children: Bogdan the dragon, Faulkner the Griffin, and Gaviil the zebra. These are most likely the most thought-out and absolutely adorable ocs I've created in a long time, and I thank you for inspiring me to make them! I look forward to watching more of your videos!

I think it's a lot simpler than you're making it seem. The show we all watch has ponies in it and we like the ponies. therefore we like to have pony ocs Not everybody likes the griffons or the other species in the show but EVERYONE likes the ponies because if they didn't they wouldn't be watching, as ponies make up the vast majority of the characters.
Gibbontake Well that's probably the best point, and sort of what I hinted on ;p. I wanted to try to provide other theories as well, to get more of an all around picture of "why?" But yes, it is for the most part a generally simple answer xD.
My theory is since we don't see the non-pony characters in the show, we have learned less about them and their anatomy. We know that Changelings feed on love and transform into any pony, Griffons are, well, Griffons, and Zebras seem to be near extinct in the MLP world. Perhaps this is why we lack those OCs. If you'll excuse me, I need to find backstory for a Changeling and Griffon OC.....
(I have a Llama OC) I think there are less non-pony OC's because Ponies are more on the 'good' sode of the show. And with all of the other non-pony OC's showing either a) bad traits or b) bad personalities, you would think that ponies are a more appropriate choice than say, a manticore or changling. Also, ponies are more ashtetically (?) pleasing to a) look at and b) draw. And if you want someone to draw your (eg; Llama) OC, they might not be able to draw it.
I have a non-ponysona. Well, they're kind of a pony, but kinda not... They're a canrussetuus. It's a mythological creature I created based on the twisted fusion of pony, bat, goat, and wolf. Basically the only one anyone has ever created. If that's not unique, I don't know what is. I think people choose ponies as their OCs so they have a feel of being canon in a way. I know people who have created OCs specifically so they can live as the dominate race on earth, or in this case, Equestria. Maybe there are more pony OCs out there because of how "dominate" they are in the show. Basically, I believe humans choose to make things based on how populous, easier or dominate the object is. In this case, it would be ponies. They go for something everyone else does so they aren't that "odd-one-out", which I apparently have. I mean, come on, it's a flipping Frankenstein over here! In the show, ponies are much more simple in design, and easy to copy. (This is also why we see so many bad OC's- because they're just easy to make.) Once you get outside the realm of ponies, it takes a bit more effort in the elements of design, creativity, and more likely, artistic abilities. A simple pony is relatively easy to draw for the average Joe, rather than say, a griffin or a dragon.
I'm gonna make me a changeling, an evil one! She shall be half changeling and half Earth pony because you know how sneaky and tricky changelings can be... She and her father did not follow Thorax's example and remained evil. Muhauhauhauahuahua!

My OC is like a hipogrif instead of a bird it's mostly a wolf with wings... But I wanted to make it relate to MLP so I just stuck a bunch of horse for the legs... Confusing yes. But it relates to what I do. Wolf=AJ Wings=something Horse/pony=MLP and the best part is its unique I don't think I will EVER see an OC like that... But it's good because everyone is different and everytime I draw my OC it turns out better and since there are so many parts to it, I learn so much in one drawing.... I would have never thought I could make realistic or 3D art at the age of ten, considering I only really started to draw on February this year but I did it!!! So my OC helps me with things is unique and it's backstory is me!!!
Well, the only reason why I picked a pegasus OC is because I preferred the look aesthetically, and I really just like Pegasi. I could've picked unicorn, but I don't really know how to tie it in with something I like... Though, that said, I do like griffins and hypogryphs.
Though they're not winged, I'm glad I finally found some cat relatives! Coriander, my oc, is a winged cat with earth-toned fur and green-toned wings and hair. It's about time I found more cats!

Tyganda, I see your point. There really isn't many non-pony ocs, and the theories you came up with I completely agree with. I'm thinking of possible making a zebra oc, one because I don't see many zebra ocs, and two because I can make my oc even more unique. Though it will be hard because I'm not entirely sure how I will draw it. Drawing non-pony ocs are hard and take a lot more time possibly than regular ponies. But I'm willing to take that challenge! Anyways, I really think that people should start making more ocs that are not ponies, I'm not saying exclude ponies entirely, but it would be good to have more of a balance between pony and non-pony ocs.

Idk, my pony is about half unicorn half Wyvern (serpent with 2 legs but classified as a dragon) it has mainly a pony shape, but has scales, a dragon tail, cat like eyes, and a unicorn horn.

I'm an Alphyn a wolf - creature with the fore-legs of a dragon, a scaly under belly, a long knotted tail, and large pointed ears. l would also like to introduce a peryton as an OC idea. Peryton- a deer like creature with wings and the hind-legs and tail feathers of a bird. Some perytons are evil and hide within herds of deer so that they can trick hunters and eat them. But I think that some perytons might be vegan so don't worry.

In all honesty, I'm really hoping they show some deer characters within the show. I mean come on!! Obviously there can be royalty within the deer population. Or hell, maybe elk, alpaca, or something! Because I've been thinking about how they can do other characters other than ponies all the time. I mean yeah, it is called "My Little Pony" for a reason, but some variety would be nice XD

My theory is since we don't see the non-pony characters in the show, we have learned less about them and their anatomy. We know that Changelings feed on love and transform into any pony, Griffons are, well, Griffons, and Zebras seem to be near extinct in the MLP world. Perhaps this is why we lack those OCs. If you'll excuse me, I need to find backstory for a Changeling and Griffon OC.....

I think there are less non-pony OC's because Ponies are more on the 'good' sode of the show. And with all of the other non-pony OC's showing either a) bad traits or b) bad personalities, you would think that ponies are a more appropriate choice than say, a manticore or changling. Also, ponies are more ashtetically (?) pleasing to a) look at and b) draw. And if you want someone to draw your (eg; Llama) OC, they might not be able to draw it.
I have a non-ponysona. Well, they're kind of a pony, but kinda not... They're a canrussetuus. It's a mythological creature I created based on the twisted fusion of pony, bat, goat, and wolf. Basically the only one anyone has ever created. If that's not unique, I don't know what is. I think people choose ponies as their OCs so they have a feel of being canon in a way. I know people who have created OCs specifically so they can live as the dominate race on earth, or in this case, Equestria. Maybe there are more pony OCs out there because of how "dominate" they are in the show. Basically, I believe humans choose to make things based on how populous, easier or dominate the object is. In this case, it would be ponies. They go for something everyone else does so they aren't that "odd-one-out", which I apparently have. I mean, come on, it's a flipping Frankenstein over here! But hey, that's just a theory.

In the show, ponies are much more simple in design, and easy to copy. (This is also why we see so many bad OC's- because they're just easy to make.) Once you get outside the realm of ponies, it takes a bit more effort in the elements of design, creativity, and more likely, artistic abilities. A simple pony is relatively easy to draw for the average Joe, rather than say, a griffin or a dragon.
30:40 the only problem there is that anY (the one with a black open vest and glasses) is a changing as seen in his collab with the brony notion.

My OC is like a hipogrif instead of a bird it's mostly a wolf with wings... But I wanted to make it relate to MLP so I just stuck a bunch of horse for the legs... Confusing yes. But it relates to what I do. Wolf=AJ Wings=something Horse/pony=MLP and the best part is its unique I don't think I will EVER see an OC like that... But it's good because everyone is different and everytime I draw my OC it turns out better and since there are so many parts to it, I learn so much in one drawing.... I would have never thought I could make realistic or 3D art at the age of ten, considering I only really started to draw on February this year but I did it!!! So my OC helps me with things is unique and it's backstory is me!!!
Well, the only reason why I picked a pegasus OC is because I preferred the look aesthetically, and I really just like Pegasi. I could've picked unicorn, but I don't really know how to tie it in with something I like... Though, that said, I do like griffins and hypogryphs.

Tyganda, I see your point. There really isn't many non-pony ocs, and the theories you came up with I completely agree with. I'm thinking of possible making a zebra oc, one because I don't see many zebra ocs, and two because I can make my oc even more unique. Though it will be hard because I'm not entirely sure how I will draw it. Drawing non-pony ocs are hard and take a lot more time possibly than regular ponies. But I'm willing to take that challenge! Anyways, I really think that people should start making more ocs that are not ponies, I'm not saying exclude ponies entirely, but it would be good to have more of a balance between pony and non-pony ocs.

Idk, my pony is about half unicorn half Wyvern (serpent with 2 legs but classified as a dragon) it has mainly a pony shape, but has scales, a dragon tail, cat like eyes, and a unicorn horn.

I'm an Alphyn a wolf - creature with the fore-legs of a dragon, a scaly under belly, a long knotted tail, and large pointed ears.
l would also like to introduce a peryton as an OC idea. Peryton- a deer like creature with wings and the hind-legs and tail feathers of a bird.
Some perytons are evil and hide within herds of deer so that they can trick hunters and eat them. But I think that some perytons might be vegan so don't worry.

In all honesty, I'm really hoping they show some deer characters within the show.
I mean come on!! Obviously there can be royalty within the deer population. Or hell, maybe elk, alpaca, or something!
Because I've been thinking about how they can do other characters other than ponies all the time. I mean yeah, it is called "My Little Pony" for a reason, but some variety would be nice XD
