My OC, Dark Obsidian, is a villain as he was trained by King Sombra for most of his life. When he was abandoned at the age of 8 due to the lack of pay and the foal support debt increasing, he was adopted and taken in by King Sombra to be trained and created into his new heir. However after 13 long years, Obsidian did not become exactly like Sombra as he looked at him like a father. It came time when King Sombra sealed away Obsidian in crystal deep within the depths of the castle as he battled and lost with the Princesses. Obsidian remained dormant upon his return 1000 years into the future. Before being defeated by the light and love of the Crystal Heart, Sombra had teleported Obsidian in a last ditch effort knowing that he and Obsidian couldn't withstand with the Heart's magic. It was a short time after the events of The Crystal Empire after returning consciousness in the North, at a distance from the Empire, The young stallion knew he couldn't return to the Empire and also grew a hatred for whoever was responsible for King Sombra's demise and swore someday he'll return to take his rightful place on the throne. Until then, He hides in plain sight and bides his time to strike. The story doesn't end here, over time he began to see the good in the time he was revived in, allowing himself to become more open and confident to take on whatever comes, As long as his abilities and past remain hidden.
Thanks for the positive thoughts, It took me some time to figure out a believable and realistic story. I just chose to base this off from the episode I was introduced to the show.
My favorite kind of villains are those who started out as regular everyday people, but something bad happened like they lost a loved one or some aspect of society ruined their lives. Those kind of villains are the most compelling and they're easy to understand why they turned evil. I like Mr Freeze. His motives are just to save his wife.
I do have a villain pony OC but haven't done much with her. I mostly use her to post memes on twitter. lol Muahahaa feel the wrath of my captioned images!
Wolfee I'm planning in making a bully oc, he bullies he main character but only because the bullies unfaithful girlfriend left him to get with the main character, the bully feels it's he main characters fault, but it's in fact the bullies girlfriend's fault, the bullies girlfriend ends up using the main character and than breaking up with him to get with the bullies best friend
Sounds cool. Some of my favorite characters in stories started out as bullies. If you've ever heard of Bulk and Skull from the power rangers they started out as high school bullies, transitioned into junior cops, then detectives, then they pretended to be the power rangers in order to heroically protect the identities of the real power rangers. I like when a character has multiple dimensions to them. :D
One of my favorite villains is a cat named Scourge from Warriors by Erin Hunter. He was bullied by his siblings as a kit and attacked by Tigerstar when he was still Tigerpaw (an apprentice). All of this made his anger and power grow. His followers feared him, doing what he said without question (except Barely, but then again, Barely was always a rebel). When Tigerstar approached him, asking for an alliance to take over the forest, Scourge agreed. Then, when Tigerstar was about to begin his plan of concurring the forest, Scourge betrayed him and took away all nine lives with one swoop. This action terrified the forest cats, and when firestar was walking around, persuading the other clans to fight, leopardstar clearly stated that she didn't want to, after what happened to Tigerstar. She thought Scrouge would kill her and leave Riverclan, her clan, (who had just merged with shadowclan) at scourge's mercy, since she knew shadowclan wouldn't help them. Scourge was a terrifying villan for readers and characters of the story alike. his weakness was that he didn't believe in starclan and couldnt receive the nine lives they bless to good leaders. I was actua;y hoping for redemption for the guy. too bad the Erin's just had to kill him off.
Everielmon the Random Fandom Trashcan Oh thanks! x3333 (And I try to reply as often as i can, although admittedly I do become a little late at times :s )
I have a "villain" oc that I've been working on recently and I think it's pretty good. Her name is Melissa, and she's not really the "bad guy" in this case, but more of a bully. So Melissa is half demon-half mortal. She lives and grew up with her father, who is a demon, to train her in dark magic. Melissa doesn't like her father or that she's part demon. She wishes she could go to Earth and make friends with mortals, but is afraid of what might happen to her if she does. The "good guy" is a half angel Alexandra. She is actually quite similar to Melissa. She grew up with her father who has the power of nature and practiced this power, making beautiful gardens with her favorite flowers, sunflowers. Alex very often visits her mother on Earth and doesn't listen to her father's demands. She wants to make friends with mortals because she's bored of always being around other angels and gods and just wants to meet new people, but her mother stops her. Melissa, jealous that Alex is an angel and is always considered good makes fun of her and destroys her gardens because, while she hates being a demon, she is afraid of what will happen if she disobeys her father and how she'll look in front of her friends being nice to an angel. I only recently made these ocs so some constructive criticism and ideas would be nice :)
Not really. Borderlands is one of those franchises that sets out a character who may seem like they're bad, only to then flip what you thought later on and show you that the true villains are the people you're working for. Moxxxie, Scooter, Marcus, and the original vault hunters of the franchise are the actual villains because they were the ones who turned Jack into what he is in Borderlands 2.
+Snazzy That and the fact that literally all of the good guys in the series (Barring the Pre-Sequel) are bandits, or become bandits. In other words, Jack was ALWAYS right, even when we thought he was the villain.
+Ender what about a corrupted version of you who can destroy dimensions before the souls of the real character form into the one thing that can stop him. Took me years for that villain backstory. Yours is also amazing
“It’s not easy being mean”. Guess the character based on this quote Hint one: he is green Hint two: he is a muppet Last Hint: he is a villain The character is Constantine from “Muppets most wanted”
My favorite villain is Lord Dominator from Wander over Yonder. She is so sassy, and i love that personality from a villain! She does have weaknesses, and she is very cool!
Thank you for making this video it’s a big help! I have been building a Villain Alicorn oc. Her name is Insania (Latin for insanity) even thought this wasn’t her name in the beginning. She forced the change after being possessed by and evil spirit jormungand who was sealed away 1000 and 1000 of years before, in an amulet. Beatus (Latin for happiness and joy), insania, was the youngest from her royal family, an older brother who was next in line for the throne, then her parents. But her childhood wasn't good depict her loving brother. She was neglected by the kingdom and out casted, ponies would speak to her out of fear for being punished by the king and queen (beatus's parents, they are rulers of a oc kingdom). But her brother stayed by her side, and did what he could ignore his father. But after he passed away for illness. Beatus was left alone. And she started to leave the kingdom exploring distant ruins. That is where she finds Jormungand, and a prophecy of her future. She didn't want to believe it but as time passed temptation grew and she was soon possessed by the amulet. And is now seeking revenge, on the surrounding kingdoms. But there is a deeper motivation to Insania, which Jormungand held her hostage for, she never wants to be forgotten. That is the basic idea I can type without it being a novel. XD but thanks to the video I can think more into her passed and ideas.
That is a very well thought-out backstory, but I thought of a few things you could improve upon. The names your OC has are fitting for her character, but they're a bit... obvious, I suppose? What I mean is that being a bit more creative would sound better. The idea for the names themselves are good (I'm actually learning Latin) but could be improved if you used the Latin word as a base, or combined more than one word without it being too long or awkward.
I believe the gravemind from the Halo franchise takes the cake as one of my all-time favorite villains. The gravemind is cunning, intellegent, strategic, poetic. Most of all, it has a weakness to the Halo Rings that we’re first built for the destruction of the gravemind and his army by an ancient civilization before humans. Thanks for reading this :)
my evil oc is one who acts like the meekish good doer and acts weak but behind the curtain she is strategically using that to rule as leader and "stop" the "evil assasins" wich she actually controls. she is "queen" of the land.
I do have a villain character. His name is Paradox and he is an arena dragon, a nightfury to be precise. He's the antagonist of the story because of his desire of being the strongest dragon in the arena he was forced to be raised in when he was just a hatchlings, and wants to see the protagonist go down because she was the only dragon that could defeat him once and escaped the arena later, something he never managed to do before she was brought in. It's not very solid and it still hasn't have a final design but I'm working on it
I am a sick sick person... So I ship it. (I'm sure if I knew both of their stories/personalities I'd probably change my mind or probably not) Keep working on the story! 👍^w^
Ashes_The_Intellegent 10 coming back to this comment almost two yearslater having solidified both Paradox’s backstory and design makes me feel so accomplished as I had in mind all of the pointers that tyandega (I’m sure I misspelled that) gave to make a good villain
I think "antagonist" better fits the title. An opposing force that hinders the protagonist and keeps them from their goal. A soccer rival wouldn't necessarily be evil, they just want to win the game.
Oh absolutely, but at the same time, as a video maker, I have to make the video more interesting for people to click on it ;p. "How to make a great antagonist" doesn't have the same appeal as "How to make a great villain" or "How to make a great evil character" ;p
Talking about villains makes me want to talk about Tigerstar from a series called Warriors. He's written off as a "bad becuase he can be" character when he's really not
ScorchingLizard AHHH FANGIRL WITH ME GIRL!! Honestly, I don't think he's evil. Just... confused, you can say. So is scourge, Mapleshade and Hawkfrost. :3
Mayachi I can see how you can argue how Hawkfrost isn't evil, since all he wanted was to make his father and Clan proud of him. I can also see how you could think Mapleshade isn't evil, even if I disagree with it ((I mean she WAS really confused and filled with grief)). But how can you say that Scourge was just confused? I would like it if you could explain that to me. As for Tigerstar, he knew exactly what he was doing, and didn't find it wrong in any way. His way of power was immoral, and there's nothing else to that. He was never confused on anything. He could've been one of the greatest leaders if it wasn't for Pinestar and Thistleclaw, along with Goosefeather probably.
ScorchingLizard Scourge was attacked by Tigerclaw after he ran away from home because his siblings bullied him and called him Tiny because he was the smallest
This is because I think that he has one of the simplest yet compelling backstory he is also not entirely evil in the end of the true pacifist we find out that he is actually Asriel Dreemurr the prince of the underground and he just wants to keep you here with him because he thinks your his Best Friend showing that he does have some good in him he just shows it wrongly and also cuz he's soulless and can't feel love another thing is that he remembers everything from his past life and therefore blamed himself for not fighting back and getting killed and making him adapt the kill or be killed outlook of life But is is my opinion like if u agree but if u don't then that's alright we all got our opinions
I have a villain oc, and he pretty much goes along with all the tips you pointed out here; strengths, weaknesses, a backstory, reason to be evil, etc. But there's something else too. In his story, he convinced his friends to be on his side, you know, doing the evil stuff they do, but I'm not sure if this would have him be considered over-powered, or even nudge him towards the Mary-Sue direction. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't feel as though I'm doing something right.
Actually,my Protagonist OC is the Villain. even though she doesn't know it,she was created to be 'more powerful than the elements themselves' and she was born with a cutie mark. she is mostly represented as a kind, loving pony but deep inside she has a sadness she cannot escape(basically depression) as she tries to ignore the sadness inside, the crystal king, sombra possesses her and she become the 'Nightmare,or True Self' version of herself as she goes on to try to destroy ponyville and the rest of equestria, with giant wings and a horn with a hooked end(Sombras horn) but is stopped by a bat pony who she once loved until she regains consciousness and fights back sombra. in the end she losses her horn, but still has her alicorn-like wings, and also losses her cutie mark. now she can pick her own fate without anyone deciding her fate for her.
You forgot a very important type of villain; the force of nature villain. These types of villains are much harder to write about as they are trapped within their ways such as the Joker. But the villain should also bring out the best of the hero as well. But either way, nicely done. Another angle to consider is the idea of evil for the sake of evil but to remember as an example of why that is evil. Imagine, if you will, there are worldly conditions that aren't really discussed but are pretty clear to see. That type of villain would crank that concept up, exposing the underline evil to bring it to attention while defending the idea. The name would go down with scorn for what they have done yet without their influence things would be a lot worse. Sometimes, the evilest thing one can do is to watch evil be done without doing anything. I actually made a lot villains. I have to say the best one would actually be a character that was cast out at a young age due to traditions however they found a much more advanced society and learning their ways through observation. That character returned to unite the torn land in a bloody revolution. After being betrayed so many times, it was clear that only the villain can trust only themselves causing some paranoia but focusing on their own power until the land was prosperous. Though trying to have a peaceful rule, their species were built for combat and get bored very easily. Seeing other lands that would benefit under the villain, believing that they are a hero, attempted to assimilate the other lands under their rule. The offer was refused yet they could not simply stand by seeing how much the other lands are suffering from water, food, and so on. Despite the efforts to have the people of the land defect, there really wasn't an option left. To prevent prolonged suffering, the villain's forces were gathered to invade their neighbors. Emotions had to be locked away while displaying bravery to the troops, pain to keep hidden, all while making sure everybody was provided what is needed. Word quickly spread of "the evil forces" that the villain had and was seen as a warmongering tyrant. Naturally that is the super short story. But when testing that character, people liked that villain a lot.
I have an Evil OC called Meme Wolf, she sneaks into your house and steals your common Pepe's. She is evil because one time, she drew a stickman, and spilled water on her bootiful stickman, she wanted revenge because the water killed the very thing she loved, so she stole all the common Pepe's and made them drink the entire Ocean so that the Human race would *dry* out. In the end, Meme Wolf died because no water meant she couldn't have her beloved Coffee. As you can see, I have very good experience when it comes to making Antagonists.
I kind of half agree with the whole motivation thing. If you want to make your villain sympathetic (The Ice King from Adventure time) then yes, backstory and motivation is almost mandatory. But then you have the other type of villain. The one's that just love to cause Chaos with nothing likeable about them. While this may seem inferior to the other type of villain initially, it works in creating someone who can really give the protagonist a run for their money and a real challenge. This type of villain works best when motivation and back story are shrouded in mystery, never giving the audience a true grip on what they are doing this for, which makes them all the more menacing. Heck, Disney made an entire brand with this archetype. What motivations did we ever get from The stepmother, Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar or Scar (and don't give me that Taka crap because those books were not made by anyone who worked on the original movie and should be given the same merit as FanFiction). Yet we see them as some of the greatest villains in film history? In conclusion, giving your villain a clear back story and motivation all depends on how you want you're audience to feel about them.
I have been trying to make a good villain for ages - but all attempts at it have failed. Watching this has helped me understand why that is - thank you so much for the help!
First, create a hero. Give them a motivation, and personality. Then, have them do whatever they can to get what they want. Now create a hero to oppose them. Repeat the same steps. Have them do all the right things.
I have a cliched evil clone OC. But she has developed so much over the years that she's become one of my favorite characters that I own. She was cloned from an Eevee OC who was evil at the time that he was cloned, but he's since turned a new leaf and is fighting with the good guys. This clone, however, has only gotten more and more evil and will stop at nothing to kill the original just to bring back a leader that she is still fiercely loyal to.
Honestly, I plan on a series which questions who's "good". After all clans think what their doing is right. But a quote from a character, icicle, "who's right if we can't-and will never decide who's right?" Since how do you know if you're the good one, if others think your bad... But you think you're intentions are good..? Also who "chooses" who is right..
Rorrx It's going to be a Warriors story? What's it called? I'm working on a crossover fanfiction where it's also kind of hard to tell who's the good guys. If you have Wattpad, one of the books is called The Price Of Freedom.
My favorite villain is Discord :P. I know he is good now, but still, he was evil before and I still like him :). Like if you agree. I also really like James from team rocket from pokemon.
I'm working on a villan OC as we speak. I was inspired by Nightmare Moon which I have been working very hard on. This is including her backstory, why she does what she does, her weaknesses and strength, and much more.
The only thing that I'm having a problem with at the moment is her background story on how she turns. Here is a link to the drawing of her I did I've been studying between mlp anatomy and horse anatomy: night-shadow64.deviantart.com/art/Nightmare-Shadow-Has-Risen-650027108
The villains in my story just want the world to be a better place. There are three of them, working together. One of them is from a place that's similar to Starlight Glimmer's (except they aren't pretending to be happy, they just...exist). She never experienced the power of freedom until the second of the villains arrived to stand against her leader, so she left to follow him thereafter. The aforementioned second villain was from a place that was pretty much the opposite of the first one's. His leader was a complete pushover. Outsiders saw the leader's "vulnerability" and sought to conquer the land. They were unsuccessful, but in the fight, the second villain's father was murdered. He was furious. He spent his life seeing his leader excuse countless misdeeds, but his father's death was crossing the line, so he decided to be the one who stands up for what's right and punishes evildoers, to be everything his leader failed to be. But he takes it to the extreme, killing others for petty crimes. The third was born of parents that were from separate backgrounds at war with each other. His father gave up being with his mother before he was born, and therefore never knew he existed. He was raised by his mother, who halfway resented him for his father's abandonment. He gladly left his mother because of that, and since he was alone after leaving her, he found guidance and acceptance from the first two villains, and he's more than happy to take out his pent-up anger on the "criminals" they're up against. All three of are basically committing crimes to stop others from committing crimes. 2/4 of the protagonists happened to be on hit list (one used to be a thief, and the other used to be on the villain's side and is considered a traitor).
My favorite villain is probably Starscream from Transformers Prime :3 I'm currently in the process of making a villainous oc, im making the background, their motivation, why they turned evil, and their weakness
Ive made a villian oc im quite proud of! Her name is Crystal Snatcher, her reason to be a villain is her cutiemark and her parents teachings. When she was a child her parents taught her to be rude and evil and her cutiemark is a black crystal. her job is too steal any crystals she sees, but you may be asking..how is that bad? its because, Crystal also wants the Crystal heart and other important shiny things. Her fear is meeting or getting defeated by the Mane 6 or Celestia and Luna, her actions may be bad..but her intentions are harmless and nothing evil at all. Crystal doesnt see herself as a villain and more like a hero, after all, shes only doing what her parents and cutiemark tells her to do.
I do have an evil character, my normal oc lightning heart is a pegasus and is happy and kind, her dark side lightning strike is her evil side, she is cruel and has her weaknesses, she is evil and only comes out because of lightning hearts back story lightning shrink when she comes out wants revenge on the world so lightning heart tries to keep her contained inside of her and doesn't want lightning strike to come out
I created 2 MLP OC's who are Villians for My Fanfiction: The Six Knights of The Night. 1. Dreadlock: The Main Antagonist of My Fanfiction, Who is The Son of King Sombra and Empress Cinch (Principal Cinch from Equestrian Girls 3,) and Leader of The Shadowbolts and ShadowKnights. 2. Tattletale: A Cowardly but Evil Pony who serves Dreadlock, who is Unlikable in Dreadlock's Armies The Shadowbolts and ShadowKnights. Tattletale is based on Vervain from Watership Down's 1999 TV Series, so he is basically Vervain's Ponysona. So I want to make him an Unlikable Weasel type of Character.
Here's my villain story! My charicter became evil because somepony stole her cookies and she still dosent knew who..! It is truly sad and villain worthy
My evil character is named Queen Nethervain. She was actually my first official OC ever from a few years ago. She was born in the overworld, but she always experienced other overworld dwellers hurting and attacking innocent things, so, being a little child, she thought that was okay, so she did the same. Right before she died, she realized that it was wrong to do such things, and when she passed on, she had an afterlife with many kind creatures and citizens of the nether. Her motivation is to protect her fellow citizens from foreigners. However, from years of endlessly punishing harmful foreigners, she eventually forgot that some foreigners are not harmful, and much more helpful, and now she just attacks any stranger, thinking they are evil. Oh wow uh yeah I really get into this stuff...
I believe there is one MASSIVE thing that we should also try to do when coming up with a “villain”: know the difference between VILLAIN and ANTAGONIST, as not all antagonists are necessarily evil, but villains are. An antagonist is a character who gets in the way of a protagonist’s (wether major or minor) goals, like the star athlete from the other high school that Ty mentioned. Remembering this can go a long way into making a good villain OR antagonist, at least in my eyes.
I have a mlp oc her name is 'Snow Fall'. Snow Fall is a child. When she was a about 4 or 5 she was playing and walking on the ice of the rivers, when the ice suddenly cave in and she fell though. She was all alone and no one head her yells and cry, ended up drowning in the icy rivers. Be careful when around her, Snow Fall will ask you "Hello can you please play with me?" If you say yes she'll thank you and show you her ball that she plays with all the time, but if you say no she'll me devastated and walk back with her head down. Ok back to if you said yes, she'll show you her ball and tell you about her "game" she made. The game is you roll around her ball and if it stop you lose (no matter what YOU always will lose if the ball stops), but the thing you have to do isn't very nice. When you lose she'll say "uh oh......you lost!" Very happy and then ice from the lake will from around you until the only thing showing is your face. She'll then being making the ice tighter and thicker.....
.....but if you ask her in time "why are you doing this?!" She'll snap out of it loosening the ice she'll then continue to say "I'm sorry I just wanted some pony to play with....." (If I didn't say she died in her birthday and she only comes out on her birthday) "it's my birthday ya know.....I-I just wanted to play with some pony for ever and not be alone!" If you forgive her she'll let you go and if you down she won't be sorry for you, she will thicken and tighten the ice slowly putting you into a painful death. Sorry if she sounds like a Merry Sue :P
My favourite villian is Tyandaga! Do you guys remember that one time he stole the cookies from the cookie jar!? He's so awesome!! And that other time he Put holes in peoples' Socks?! He's my favourite villian!
I need a review on a villain I'm developing, please: So, her name's Kara and she is evil because THE THING that pretends to be her mother raised her to be this way and thus Kara can't differ right from wrong and is constantly asking THE THING what to do in every situation. Eventually, Kara realizes that what she is doing is wrong, but her "mother" keeps telling her that what momma says is completely right and naturally Kara develops a dependent and controllable personality that only THE THING can control :) I know THE THING is technically the villain, but even when THE THING's gone Kara keeps doing what she was taught was right. Is it okay?
Thanks to this my OC Tanatos is ready to commit some little of genocide all over Equestria!!! But do not worry because he thinks he's morally justified, well nod really, but lying to oneself is easier than saying "I am a damn parasite that is so terrified by death that i kills hundreds of innocents to prolong my existence" :)
First off,!I love your videos and art!! Second off, my favorite villain is a man called Zane Ro'meave. He was bullied by his brothers, verbally abused by his father, and hated by the society in which he lived him. All he wanted in life was for his father to accept him, which was his motivation. All the pain he went through drove him insane in the end and someone took his life. I personally love his personality and weaknesses, and him as a whole.
I prefer gene... I dunno why. I think he's mean. And poor Dante! I swear I wouldn't be surprised if in the future he's made in to a villain, I mean, his whole village forgot him. (I'M A HUUUGE APHMAU FAN!! Sorry) But my favorite villain of all time is J.D from Heathers: The Musical. He had a hard past and died for love so... yeah
StoryTheShadow 563 yeah geez! Seriously though poor Aaron >w< why did he have to try to kill Zane? I know he was trying to save Aphmau, but ugh! Let her make her own choices for once! I do think Gene deserves some more love though
Silverflare888 I completely agree with you! Just because I don't like Aaron doesn't mean we can't communicate in a civilized manner! FINALLY!!! Thank you!
my "villain" character is a princess alicorn that thinks she is perfect and knows nothing but how to be pretty :/ cuz my OC is the leader of a secret club of reblicans :/ so does that make my character a villain or the good guy? comment what you think.
Tyandaga I think good becuse well heck my oc for roleplaying has been in two rebel groups to defend her friends family and kind becuse the group their FIGHTING was tricked into thinking ppl who done nothing wrong are bad well kind XD
Of course the alicorn is the antagonist. Thank you so much for making this kind of antagonist as I don't really see it often. Villains always seem to be the straightforward killing people AHEM ponies or corrupting them, torturing them etc. I find these non straightforward villains more appealing because the story would contain a lot more content and drama... Totally entertaining.
My favorite villain is the Kraang from the 2012 TMNT show because not only are they interesting to look at due to them being aliens but funny to see them fail at their missions when the turtles beat them! 😂
Motives are a hard thing for me, especially when it's on the level I'm trying to go with. He wants nothing more than to see Equestria fall, but I haven't come up with a good reason. A lack of sanity wouldn't make sense, because he's logical most always. Vengeance wouldn't warrant attempted genocide. The best thing I can come up with is fear: His rampage starts when Nightmare Moon finds attacks him instead of the Mane 6. He's had serious unbroken stealth, and he *fears* what will happen when that's broken. Thus he retaliates with power stronger than thought, not enough to instantly kill Nightmare Moon, but enough to make her reform from terrorising entirely in one night. However his cover is truly blown when the battle finds it's way into Canterlot's sights, forcing him to retreat. But then his retreat is taken to a new level of *fear* and redirects him back to Canterlot when he runs into a threat wielding guns. At this point, he decides to start killing Canterlot's residence, until those previously mentioned gunners catch up with him. His brief rampage is ended with death, followed by a mind-controlling revival. The problem is that *fear* cannot justify his second attack. Nor can a non-existent lack of sanity. Would you say that it's him simply going mad with newfound power? I can't think of anything else worthwhile adding at the moment.
My villain is a stocky Pegasus who could never fly very well. Her name is Sky Quill, as she's a writer. She finds a secret enchanted quill that makes whatever she writes with it real. So to make everyone equal, she decides to turn all ponies into earth ponies so one race isn't above the others. Actually I have an entire cast of characters helping her. Some, like her best friend Hotshot, hate it. Others, like Scarlet Snowflake and Candy Catch egg her on. Magnus is the only non pony and he has been mocked and tormented by ponies his whole life. Unless you count Whisper, who is a kelpie. She hates what they're doing too.
criticism for your villain: why is this person the villain? she made at least the majority of the population equal, right? maybe there's something to be said about making everyone earth ponies to do this, but that's a whole different can of worms involving supernatural talent and whether it'll be used for good or evil. by making race differences actually matter, you are divorcing the story from reality, and at that point it ceases to be about friendship. now, if you're stretching MLP much beyond its original framework then by all means, write a story about hopelessly depressing hypotheticals where racist rhetoric has scientific backing. just include a disclaimer that your story isn't rooted in reality. the point is, having a fighter for equality be your bad guy sounds like pro-hierarchy propaganda and I'm sure you're not a eugenicist and don't want it to come off that way
Also, history is written by the winners, so villains could actually be the actual good person, being correct to the reader's ethical beliefs. Because of this, all history and most stories with a villain is biased. The writer, usually on the protagonist's side, will be biased and make the villain look bad.
remember how everyone else's characters in the brony analysis communtiy have evil sides to themselves? well, only some do, but there is one kind analyst in the fandom who is also known as the Psychologist of the fandom, The Doc/DRWolf001. Out of all the other evil onea ive seen so far, i seriously think that it would be interesting if the doc had a dark side for at least once.
Some artists have tried making pieces with Dr Wolf's "evil side" in mind xD. I don't know if there are many, or if you can find them easily, but I imagine a search through DA would turn up some results ;p
Tyandaga Well, so far I've been sifting through the internet within 9 hours 57 minutes and 30 seconds and found none other than Sapphire Heartsong's xD Also thanks for replying
I've got an idea for a new group of villains. You know how Celestia had an apprentice before Twilight right? But she's not the only one. Here's my backstory on this group of villains here. A few years ago, a young boy from the human realm ends up getting separated from his sisters in a time rift paradox. He ended up in Equestria, grieving at the loss of his family, all alone, with no one to talk to. And yes, Daniel's still a human in Equestria. Anyways, Luna finds him alone on a stormy night, and decided to raise him as her son. Daniel wanted to unleash a new persona hiding within him. So Luna decided to train him to become her own guardian. But Daniel wasn't the only human to land in Equestria to become a guardian. 11 other human children seek Luna to help them become braver people. But these 12 teens weren't aware of what lies in store for them. I'll give out the names of these people in my next comment.
This kind of inspired me to do three villain OCs - Wave, Wink, and Wyvern. All three are cats, and are siblings. They are all black with white chests. Wyvern is a she-cat and is kind of the leader of the group, while Wave and Wink are he-cats and are kind of followers of Wyvern, with friendly competition between one another. Wink is the youngest, while Wyvern is the oldest. They were born into a cat family that lived in city streets. They also used to have two other siblings - Whisper and Whip, who were, again, black with a white chest. Their mother, Ryganda, was a black cat with a white muzzle, and their father, DJ, was completely black. DJ got all the food and gave all the love to his kits, while Ryganda hunted for herself and almost entirely ignored the kits, seeing them as only helpers to help her rise to power among all other city cats one day. However, one night while Ryganda was away and again trying to negotiate with other cats to organize a cat group (she did this a lot), humans raided the cat family's alley that they lived in. DJ and Whisper were killed, while Wink and Whip were wounded. Whip died of his wounds, while Wink survived. Wyvern was extremely depressed by this point. When her mother came back, she acted as though it wasn't a big deal that half her family died, and left Wyvern and her two remaining siblings for dead. However, Wyvern, although she wasn't physically strong, had a way with words, and had some sort of power in them that no one could explain. She could have used this power to bring the world together had she been raised right - but, instead, she used it for self-gain. She talked to a dog, spilling horrible lies along with horrible truths about her mother, and her face and her powerful words almost brainwashed the dog, who set out to kill Wyvern's mother. He did manage to catch Ryganda and kill her. Wyvern went on to become one of the most powerful cats in the land, with her two brothers backing her only for two reasons: They were the only family that each of them had left, and plus, Wyvern could easily get food by convincing prey to kill themselves. Anyone who wronged Wyvern was quickly killed by people she brainwashed through her words. The three siblings have no true home, but wander around the land, strutting their authority and power everywhere. They don't have much physical strength, but Wyvern's powerful words are enough to give them almost too much power.
Yes, I have a evil character His name his Cosmic, he's the ruler of the Comic Dimension in my story. His Friends with the other rulers of the Dimensions, but then something happened. A new assistant was made for the Rulers of the Dimensions, her name is Ohshe Then over time, Cosmic got jealous, then this is when Cosmic Snapped He got really jealous and angry at the Rulers of the Dimensions for Liking Ohshe and not caring about him at all, so then Cosmic decided to use his power to curse her (aka Corrupt her) But then when Ohshe gets Corrupted by Cosmic, his plan immediately backfires Because when Ohshe was Corrupted she banished the rulers to their own Dimensions, So then they couldn't go out of their Dimensions to help on another But now since Cosmic is having all of the time in the world, he'll return for revenge I'm still working on the story, let me know what I should change Also, I make animations to further tell the story Also, I'll link a playlist of the animations and art I made to tell the story There's entire story after the story I just said, so watch this playlist to see what happens th-cam.com/play/PL3kYBR8jyzQinhn4QscGtsr6BAd8eO09Z.html Here's the playlist I made of the Important story of my series Okay, that's all I had to say, bye!
Savanna Rogers Oh please, I sure hope you aren't being spun into the media's biased web. if so, you are a grand fool in thinking Trump is "Eviler" than Clinton. I mean, seriously, can't you see passed the absolutely blatant manipulation of the public. NBC, CNN, FB, they're all censoring you from the truth and feeding you the same old crap, and you just gobble it up, don't you?
My oc is a villain, but he’s actually part of a different organization, an organization that not a lot of people choose to follow, my oc is a general in the Storm Army. He joined at the same time as Tempest, and has a whole backstory that links him to the broken unicorn, a backstory of Tempest’s one friend.
I have a chaotic neutral character, who's part dragon, but he basically doesn't give a crap about what he does because he thinks ponies are less than dragons, but he also looks like a dragon so he never knew he was part pony. Shiker(that's his name) just thinks he is small. His opinion is biased by his dragon mom and the teenagers he hangs out with.
I have an amoral human, turned eldritch abomination, turned vacationing entity... after he assimilated the omniverse, and restoring it. Now, he's taken the form of a small colt, adopted into a minor, albeit important, family. In a way, much like Saitama, he now views having ultimate power as boring; when a fight has no stakes, what's even the point of doing it anymore?
I had an idea for an evil caracter in MLP. Here's the backstory: *2000 years ago there lived a young colt named Solar Constellation in a city then outside of Equestria. he showed a great interest in the sun, moon, and the stars, and would map out every constellation he could see with a telescope. However, when a few years later this city became part of equestria, an institute was built, and he started studying the new Equestrian books there. But as he read more books, and learned more and more, he gained the attention of the Royal sisters, who had heard about this gifted young unicorn. One day whilst studying, he was visited by the two rulers. He greeted them and asked them what may have brought their presence here. When the said they wished to speak to him, he led them to his private study to have their conversation, not as a subject speaking to it's ruler, but rather like a student wishing to discuss with a professor. There, he shared all the knowledge he had gained all these years. However, while Luna found this quite admirable and an impressive feat, Celestia started to grow conserned when she heard he showed interest in arcane magic of the highest sort, like moving the sun and moon to ones heart content. To further monitor his progress, he became a student of Celestia and Luna, and continued to gain power. This all came to the point that Celestia really feared he might become too dangerous, and wanted to isolate him, as he had recently shown extreme prowess, performing a ritual, briefly summoning elementals. After convincing her sister, they both used their powers to seal him away, not on the sun or moon, as that wouldn't hold. They sealed him in the solar eclipse, ensuring he would never return... ... But alas, by banishing him in fear he might become a monster, they created the monster. Sealed away for hundreds of years, his resentment for Celestia has grown along with his power. His name is Solaris Eclips, and he will return*
My oc has a evil counter part that come forth it she can't fight or her confidence is low but even if she think she helping she slowly doing her for the inside out

I'm making a fan season of Total Drama, and your videos are helping me, this one helped me make the villain named Spike, who's a fighter that is super hyped to win the contest, now time to work on the rest
my fav villen is bearglo from Seri! Pixel Biologist!'s warrior cat sims 3 series. he is a large pure white cat, that has a large compelling voice and is definitely a villen from the little clips she has given us. and for some reason starclan (basically heaven of cats but you wouldn't really quite get it unless you read the books), cant talk to him ( bearglo is a medicine cat [basically a doctor for cats] and in warrior cats if starclan needs to talk to a medicine cat then the can but not with bearglo), and he has been seen talking to shadows and such. and his sister has actually killed a cat for giving bearglo a mysterious fish that actually has poison in it and almost killed bearglo.
Scourge from worrier cats he turned evil because his silblyings hated him and so he ran away and grown to be the basest worrier cat. What is he scared of? He is scared of dying or losing. He was killed by firestar I believe. P.S hope you like it if you don't know worrier cats you should look it up then type scourge thank you ~lexiaa
True being bad is good. Without evil what is good? Without villains there is no good,no ones a hero, you could even say everyone's a villain. So you must have the wrong doer for a good doer. Also, villains aren't really villains tbh. They just think, like everypony, they r doing the right thing when thy really aren't
I have a very great antagonist OC named Odium. He's an anthropomorphic grey wolf who has an intense, yet honorable hatred for injustice of any kind, as well as those who cause it. He was tricked into going after the Mane Six, Starlight, and Discord for their perceived misdeeds for years by an old seer before she died of old age right in front of him, traumatizing him. He doesn't have any magical or (in my other antagonist's case) technological abilities, but he does have years of martial arts, experience, skill, and a magic-proof bo-staff, all of which were given to him by the same seer. His motivation for doing any of this is for the greater good of others and to not let them suffer or let those who caused their suffering get away with it. What do you think?
When u said “Outstanding character” I thought: OC HAS A NEW MEANING!!!
It doesn't don't worry. It still means original character.

Sounds cool ^3^
NICE
Thanks for the positive thoughts, It took me some time to figure out a believable and realistic story. I just chose to base this off from the episode I was introduced to the show.
Dark Obsidian it's pretty cool, how it fits in perfectly with the story x3

Dark Obsidian I would totally read or watch that. It sounds soooo cool

Freeze saved his wife by freezing her. Yet he killed her as well. Think if the facts of freezing cells
Wolfee Ya me to! A good example is scourge from warriors

nope! I really enjoy seeing villains way more than heroes and it's just way more fun writing evil characters!
I do to
"They need a reason to me Evil!"
My OC: "Being evil is cool so I became a bad guy." (Edgelord intensifies)
But if everybody become evil? It will not stay as cool to be evil
Paraphrasing Megamind, eh?
Nice! ^_^

*cough* handsome jack *cough, cough*

yeah..
N from Pokemon
+Snazzy That and the fact that literally all of the good guys in the series (Barring the Pre-Sequel) are bandits, or become bandits.
In other words, Jack was ALWAYS right, even when we thought he was the villain.
Nim The Goodra N isn't the antagonist(bad guy). He was just misguided by ghetsis
Evil? Semantics. I consider myself "morally challenged."

Psychocupcakes I like it good job
Binh Tn, thank you ^u^
That is a very well thought-out backstory, but I thought of a few things you could improve upon. The names your OC has are fitting for her character, but they're a bit... obvious, I suppose? What I mean is that being a bit more creative would sound better. The idea for the names themselves are good (I'm actually learning Latin) but could be improved if you used the Latin word as a base, or combined more than one word without it being too long or awkward.
Cool backstory, it's sad tho. ):
Oh thank you. ^-^ Im glad you like it. sorry its sad, i couldn't help it XD but thanks again.

It's not very solid and it still hasn't have a final design but I'm working on it
Reminds me of Peril from wings of fire
How?
i read the book
I am a sick sick person...
So I ship it.
(I'm sure if I knew both of their stories/personalities I'd probably change my mind or probably not)
Keep working on the story!
MSOR Agreed ^u^
Oh absolutely, but at the same time, as a video maker, I have to make the video more interesting for people to click on it ;p. "How to make a great antagonist" doesn't have the same appeal as "How to make a great villain" or "How to make a great evil character" ;p
Either way it gets the point across. You could explain it within the video as well but, again, it still works
@Tyandaga
"Wanting more views" simply isn't a good enough excuse to use a less accurate title, which means you fail.

My favourite villain is from warrior cats:
*Tiger Star*
ScorchingLizard Also scourge is a great villain
ScorchingLizard Scourge was attacked by Tigerclaw after he ran away from home because his siblings bullied him and called him Tiny because he was the smallest
Mind you he was a kit
My favourite villain ? I think flowey
This is because I think that he has one of the simplest yet compelling backstory he is also not entirely evil in the end of the true pacifist we find out that he is actually Asriel Dreemurr the prince of the underground and he just wants to keep you here with him because he thinks your his Best Friend showing that he does have some good in him he just shows it wrongly and also cuz he's soulless and can't feel love another thing is that he remembers everything from his past life and therefore blamed himself for not fighting back and getting killed and making him adapt the kill or be killed outlook of life
But is is my opinion like if u agree but if u don't then that's alright we all got our opinions
PuppyDog Productions *insert killer TV*

I'm Flower! Flower the Flowey! Wait-
I have a villain oc, and he pretty much goes along with all the tips you pointed out here; strengths, weaknesses, a backstory, reason to be evil, etc.
My OC was neglected and forgotten by her parents, which caused her to want to inflict the same pain on others.
As you can see, I have very good experience when it comes to making Antagonists.
o.O
Jake Pulley
Wow
OMG I CAN'T even think XD
^.^
Tyandaga You like what I wrote about her? Her name is Scarlet, by the way.
Honestly, I plan on a series which questions who's "good". After all clans think what their doing is right. But a quote from a character, icicle, "who's right if we can't-and will never decide who's right?"
Since how do you know if you're the good one, if others think your bad...
Rorrx u read wings of fire
" We hiss when we see the villian! "
*coughtotallynotscreamingandfangirlingtrixiecoughcoughcough*
Am I the only one not seeing Trixie as a villian?
I'm was super surprised when school (not art collage) taught us how to make a good villain and hero!
^.^
My favorite villain is probably Starscream from Transformers Prime :3
I'm currently in the process of making a villainous oc, im making the background, their motivation, why they turned evil, and their weakness
My villain has the greatest name
The waffle of death she's so evil
o3o
I do have an evil character, my normal oc lightning heart is a pegasus and is happy and kind, her dark side lightning strike is her evil side, she is cruel and has her weaknesses, she is evil and only comes out because of lightning hearts back story lightning shrink when she comes out wants revenge on the world so lightning heart tries to keep her contained inside of her and doesn't want lightning strike to come out
This is very helpful. I'll make sure to use these tips in the future! ;)
Love your videos :D
Thanks! I really like your videos too ^.^ Very good voice acting, keep being awesome x3
It is truly sad and villain worthy
xD
My villain is a BUNNY SHARK!
No it's not I only did that because I'm a carrotfish k.
Alright then xD
Omg, you mean the carrot fish that seri! Pixel biologist made up?
granny smith is the best villian XP
Finley May HAHAHAHAHA Yeah!! That part was funny
Finley May YES FEAR THY GRANNY
You'll see! You'll *alllll* see! ;p
Finley May Trixie may think so after the latest episode
What an oddly timed video considering my evil OC is running rampant over my channel right now
x3
Tyandaga Wait! What?! You actually replied?! That's not supposed to happen!
Blackbird26155 It's not? o.O
I usually just leave a comment and that's that. Especially weird when the much bigger names in the Brony community respond.
Lol
I forgot to say she hates deep water and water that is not frozen over.
Great idea! Seems very spooky! I do like that you can prevent being killed, not making her over powered!
Ooo spoopy
My favourite villian is Tyandaga! Do you guys remember that one time he stole the cookies from the cookie jar!? He's so awesome!! And that other time he Put holes in peoples' Socks?! He's my favourite villian!
x3
Ty! Teach me your Evil ways!
TrixieVSgaming D: *runs*

I need a review on a villain I'm developing, please:
So, her name's Kara and she is evil because THE THING that pretends to be her mother raised her to be this way and thus Kara can't differ right from wrong and is constantly asking THE THING what to do in every situation. Eventually, Kara realizes that what she is doing is wrong, but her "mother" keeps telling her that what momma says is completely right and naturally Kara develops a dependent and controllable personality that only THE THING can control :)
I know THE THING is technically the villain, but even when THE THING's gone Kara keeps doing what she was taught was right.
Is it okay?
Fergie VFCMS I know I'm not a professional but I think it's realistic and makes sense C: I think it's good
Thanks to this my OC Tanatos is ready to commit some little of genocide all over Equestria!!!
But do not worry because he thinks he's morally justified, well nod really, but lying to oneself is easier than saying "I am a damn parasite that is so terrified by death that i kills hundreds of innocents to prolong my existence" :)
JC N yeah and wow that's cool
Yeah sounds like a certain wizard who must not be named *cough* *cough* Voldemort *cough* cough*
That hitler
@FreezerPopGames 07, Harry Potter! :D
Im have a Indoraptor OC witch is half evil but he can be a good guy
MY Favorite villain is a scar from Lion king
YESS i was just about make an evil oc sooo
THANKS SENPAI!!!
^.^
I prefer gene... I dunno why. I think he's mean. And poor Dante! I swear I wouldn't be surprised if in the future he's made in to a villain, I mean, his whole village forgot him.
(I'M A HUUUGE APHMAU FAN!! Sorry)
But my favorite villain of all time is J.D from Heathers: The Musical. He had a hard past and died for love so... yeah
JustAnother Reader He is quite cool in my opinion.
Republicans? Has to be evil x3
Tyandaga
I think good becuse well heck my oc for roleplaying has been in two rebel groups to defend her friends family and kind becuse the group their FIGHTING was tricked into thinking ppl who done nothing wrong are bad well kind XD
I absolutely love that new cartoon network short, Villainous. It focuses more on the villains, which I like.
Me: *sees baby sombruh*
Me: AHH THE CUTENESS! *Falls out of chair*
It twas too much
are you have evil side in you?
I have many of it in one OC
it little bits like pinkie pie
Sunver Rose I'm sorry I laughed XD
Grammar please, thank you
Pfft, he's the cookie lord, didn't you see the titlecard art?
hahahhahahahahahahhahahahahaha. whep! that not me
Play nice ;)
Motives are a hard thing for me, especially when it's on the level I'm trying to go with. He wants nothing more than to see Equestria fall, but I haven't come up with a good reason. A lack of sanity wouldn't make sense, because he's logical most always. Vengeance wouldn't warrant attempted genocide. The best thing I can come up with is fear:
His rampage starts when Nightmare Moon finds attacks him instead of the Mane 6.
She hates what they're doing too.
criticism for your villain: why is this person the villain? she made at least the majority of the population equal, right? maybe there's something to be said about making everyone earth ponies to do this, but that's a whole different can of worms involving supernatural talent and whether it'll be used for good or evil. by making race differences actually matter, you are divorcing the story from reality, and at that point it ceases to be about friendship. now, if you're stretching MLP much beyond its original framework then by all means, write a story about hopelessly depressing hypotheticals where racist rhetoric has scientific backing. just include a disclaimer that your story isn't rooted in reality. the point is, having a fighter for equality be your bad guy sounds like pro-hierarchy propaganda and I'm sure you're not a eugenicist and don't want it to come off that way
I have multiple evil character for different books and stories I made. This information was so helpful for helping me in the past. Thanks!
Evil Tyandaga is going to steal all the cookies! Nooooooo!
Also, history is written by the winners, so villains could actually be the actual good person, being correct to the reader's ethical beliefs. Because of this, all history and most stories with a villain is biased. The writer, usually on the protagonist's side, will be biased and make the villain look bad.
Unless your talking about Scar because we all end up feeling like him and the hynas in the first film.
remember how everyone else's characters in the brony analysis communtiy have evil sides to themselves? well, only some do, but there is one kind analyst in the fandom who is also known as the Psychologist of the fandom, The Doc/DRWolf001.
I personally like Starlight Glimmer. Becoming equal is an understandable challange for me.
Yes, I have a evil character
His name his Cosmic, he's the ruler of the Comic Dimension in my story.
His Friends with the other rulers of the Dimensions, but then something happened.
A new assistant was made for the Rulers of the Dimensions, her name is Ohshe
Then over time, Cosmic got jealous, then this is when Cosmic Snapped
He got really jealous and angry at the Rulers of the Dimensions for Liking
Ohshe and not caring about him at all, so then Cosmic decided to use his power
to curse her (aka Corrupt her)
But then when Ohshe gets Corrupted by Cosmic, his plan immediately backfires
Because when Ohshe was Corrupted she banished the rulers to their own Dimensions,
So then they couldn't go out of their Dimensions to help on another
But now since Cosmic is having all of the time in the world, he'll return for revenge
I'm still working on the story, let me know what I should change
Also, I make animations to further tell the story
Also, I'll link a playlist of the animations and art I made to tell the story
There's entire story after the story I just said, so watch this playlist to see what happens
th-cam.com/play/PL3kYBR8jyzQinhn4QscGtsr6BAd8eO09Z.html
Here's the playlist I made of the Important story of my series
Okay, that's all I had to say, bye!
My favorite evil villain is...
Hillary Clinton.
I look to her for all of my inspiration.
LunarLynx lol
LunarLynx Trump's my evil motivation.
LunarLynx TRUMPS EVILER
The election is the Wicked Witch vs Lex Luther.
I like the joker from the dark knight rises, and I am using that as an inspiration for Renaldo in FNaF Wonderland.
Interesting story ^.^
I had an idea for an evil caracter in MLP. Here's the backstory:
*2000 years ago there lived a young colt named Solar Constellation in a city then outside of Equestria. he showed a great interest in the sun, moon, and the stars, and would map out every constellation he could see with a telescope.
Ferretzim 86 that's sombra's backstory
I love that story! ^3^
Did you seriously write that?!
I wont read a such long text xD
my top 3 fav villains (cos I cant decide) have got to be Mxyzptlk from super girl, Rumpelstiltskin from once upon a time and sunset shimmer from mlp.
My oc has a evil counter part that come forth it she can't fight or her confidence is low but even if she think she helping she slowly doing her for the inside out
Awww :((
I was going to make a villain character based on my ex friend but idk why she was mean/manipulative so can anyone give me a random reason thx 😄
My fav villian is Chrysalis
^.^
my bad guy was abused as a kid by everyone he knew Evan his siblings they even whoud trow stones at him he didn't, see him self as a bay gay but he afraid of spiders
Is this in Egyptian Hieroglyphics or something??
Fav Villain: Bill Cipher 🎩
Scourge from worrier cats he turned evil because his silblyings hated him and so he ran away and grown to be the basest worrier cat. What is he scared of? He is scared of dying or losing. He was killed by firestar I believe.
P.S hope you like it if you don't know worrier cats you should look it up then type scourge thank you ~lexiaa
YAAAAAASSSSSSS!
You following this
I also have a video idea!
The creativity of your character!
It's all about the perspective ;p

Ohhh and and tge tool tmlin
I have a weird favriote villain...
