Levels the playing field
Every time Dzeeff mentiones FABLED, I get mini heart and panic attack
in the pack at 10:07, the last card is a huge pickup. It's Dinomorphia Shell. I can read it from memory, it summons a 3k defense token, and your opponent can only attack the token
I actually love that no matter what series it is, Doug and his co-hosts manage to pull at least 1 Yajiro Invader
The fun part is always seeing if I know how a card works just off the image, as I’ve used a lot of stupid cards
The packs limit made it really fun. I saw Mordshlag a million times but couldn’t remember the effect and I was POGging when it reduced the attack to 0.
That is exactly the kind of moments this series is for!
Imagine if Doug had attacked the vampire and just lost right there.
If only Gage pulled Verdant Sanctuary, the best field spell of all time
Yeah, verdant sanctuary is a field spell that, when his monster is destroyed by battle, allows him to special summon a zombie monster, such as newdoria, from the deck.
It's really funny and enjoyable to see both players just looking at the art and trying to figure out what the card does based on that lol
What's crazy is Doug played mordschlag perfectly after looking at the art. Only works on special summoned monsters lol

The issue with 20 packs is that you have even less playable cards and no chances of pulling a “combo”.

30 would be perfect middle of the ground imo
I know I have a different perspective because I'm building the deck but with 30 packs the deck building was way less interesting because I could easily put together a deck full of 1700+ ATK monsters. With 20 packs it forced me to look at tons of cards I probably would've passed up if there were 10 more packs.
I will mention that it's difficult pleasing everybody, and I hope you give 20 packs a chance! On all of the previous episodes you can find tons of comments complaining about how long the pack opening takes (which were completely understandable comments, some of them have 25 minutes of pack opening).
I have considered 30 packs but cut out the 'boring' ones, but I think part of the fun as a viewer is seeing what we miss as we're opening packs so I like leaving all the cards in the video.

Idk 20 packs seem a little too small for an actually interesting deck. Seems like it’ll devolve into big beat sticks just hitting over each other, though that was kinda what it was already. 30 seems better since you’ll at least get to add some spice.
I think a lot of the funny moments come from playing cards you think you know incorrectly. I get where you would be coming from in terms of wanting to avoid playing 1900 vanilla yugioh, but I think the issue isn't the amount of cards but the lack of strategy. I think doing 10 master then 10 or 20 secrets would produce some funnier lines. You can't blow up your own board if you can't make a board. Either way, will keep watching the content! love the series

A small tournament in this style might be something you could consider.
I love these no reading videos. Shows how little of the cards competitive players know when something isn't considered meta.
This has become one of my favorite series, love how it showcases your prior knowledge while also giving room to improvise new strategies, whether intentionally or not lol.
Might be cool to try 10 master pack and 10 secret pack pulled from the master pack, like saga. Might allow a few combos if you can remember the cards

I never understood why The Tricky had the "The" in the name, but seeing it's called "THE Tricky" in (what I think is) Japanese really makes me even more confused.

Mordschlag (the equip card) is actually crazy especially if your opponent doesn't read card effects. I've used it in Duel Links and it's always funny watching the opponent just waste effects and crash into the monster.
20 packs seems dope! I almost kinda wish it was like Roulette where you select a secret pack so you guys would be forced to play a strategy without knowing what the cards do but maybe that's another series....

This really should be an ongoing series where both players open 10-20 new master packs every episode, but they keep the cards from previous weeks.

I already dislike even less packs. Please go back to 30. The fun part of the first few episodes is getting some random combo. Farfa not realizing he had targets for one of his cards was amazing.

With just 20 packs is very funny, you should challenge youtubers you already played with for a rematch!
This is unironically the best format
I think 20 packs might be a bit too tight, the series already favors a specific building style of big bungus turbo, so having more cards to at least try to figure out an "engine" or get a boss monster/removal might be worth it.
Super cool duels tho, Gage is always a blast

Love the series. Have you considered forcing the minimum deckcount to be 50 or 60 cards? Feels like that would force you guys to be more uncomfortable, but the series is still great!
most of the time there are just legit not enough cards that can activate. forcing the higher deck count would just make it so they are all dead drawing most of the time.
Everyone's sleeping on Mordschlag. That card is a fun little anti-special summon gimmick card
Dracoon Lamp would have been such a funny card specifically for this format, if only anyone knew what it did.

Dracoon Lamp is a great 500/2000 that can discard a card to gain 1000 Defense and can make damagecal ulation with both monsters original Defense. It is fantastic.
i feel like the best part of the series is trying to guess the small synergies (having multiple effects that trigger).would there be anyway to force more archetypal pulls by doing some amount of secret packs?

Yay! More Fortune Ladies! ^_^ Fortune Lady Earth is the one that does burn damage every turn. Fortune Lady Dark essentially does nothing in sealed format outside of gain ATK and Levels. I do not recommend playing any other Fortune Lady cards in sealed format, except maybe for Future Visions. That's an SR though. Great floodgate for this format if you can pull it though. Monsters get banished on normal summon until the standby phase of your next turn.
Doug, you always mention Battle Pack 3 with such joy. Is there anyway we could get some BP3 content on the channel? I know you made a video about why you love it, but I would be cool to see a Bo3 with you and like MBT playing Battle Pack 3.
He had the out to the fortune lady in turn 1. Summon or set black metal dragon, when sent to grave grab the redeyes fang with chain. Then use chains effect to equip the fortune lady

A alas Lady of Fortune who is dark. The Lone fortune wanes its power so, but thy power still shone bright. (Special summons a fortune lady monster from the gy when it destroys a monster by battle)
30 packs would've helped make these games less fast/blow-outs. Purely a numbers game to help balance the card pool. Still entertaining, but 30 packs would be more fair for each duelist
I would really love to see a version of this series where you can read your own cards in the pack opening, but switch the language to japanese during the duels & deck building only. That way each player would vaguely remember what their cards did, while the opponent would have no idea at all. Could be fun :)

I think a better approach than less packs would be forcing a deck limit, like forcing both players to pay a 20:10:10 ratio. I think that might help these stop devolving into who summons a bigger monster first. It would also hopefully lead to more random spell and traps being activated which is definitely where the fun is with the series
You're gonna just end up with dead spells and traps that do nothing but clog the deck because they're archetype specific and won't activate
Honestly I'd encourage you to check out the VOD for the deck building from one of these episodes. I include like 80% of the non-archetype spells/traps that I pull, it's just that the vast majority of spells/traps out there are for archetypes (especially in the Master Pack)
@@Dzeeff actually yeah that's fair, I hadn't really thought about how many spell traps would be archetype-specific and thus completely unactivatable - maybe the fixed ratio would lead to a lot of boring whiffs and that's the last thing you want. I think I just loved the equip spell part of this episode so much, I want that over and over hahaha
I have a request for Dzeeff, to keep a scoreboard for the current match on the screen, for like who won game one, who won game two, and then who wins the match because I, personally, watch these videos high as dUtysake and get lost in whos winning or losing the match.

I dont know if im in the majority or not, but I personally prefer when it was 30 packs and not 20. 20 seems like if anyone gets any sort of combo they'll win. It's also very likely someone will be playing with completely unplayable scrap 😔 I also like the pack openings, so having less packs to open is big sad
once again blackfalcon gets pulled and no one uses it to its full ability, get a token on attack declaration so it cannot die as a result of it, so relative free extra body, also it is a book of moon for attack position monsters

You took 4 episodes to notice. In the episode with TheDuelLogs, the title cards for round numbers were in Korean, because the cards were in Korean that episode since TDL knows a bit of Japanese.
might try with secret packs, a lot of the effects need monsters in archetype to even be functional, and having random triggers just happen while you play seems more interesting if you actually might be able to make the boss monsters. Just be sure you don't know the archetypes you're pulling
