To be honest this would actually be great when doing twitch streams. Just to keep track of the chat. or having OBS on a separate screen to see that the stream is running smoothly.
Throw out? Never! Dude, I still have a Newton Message Pad in my closet. Lol P.S. 20 year old Newton has better hand writing recognition than my new Surface Pro. Amazing.
@@NovaspiritTech I still have the old Nokia brick phone in like-new condition. And for an Andriod preferred guy, I still also have the very first iPhone tucked away 😉
This is perfect, I want to keep my setup clean so adding a second monitor didn't feel right so this is the solution i needed, thanks for making a video about it
Works hassle-free, and there's even less lag than with software that's doing the opposite. Thank you for this! edit: And my god, even the touchscreen works, I don't have to drag the mouse over! This is absolutely perfect!
This video was shown by my colleague, tried it and this right here, made my day. Thank you, you just got a subscriber today. Next task, finding old devices. Yeay you!
Kind of amazed by this. Wanted to find a use for an old iPad mini which can't be updated past iOS9 and this worked, as shown, seemlessly. Aside from the [iPad] hardware limitations which makes it a little slower, it's amazing. When downloaded with NZXT Cam software I have a dedicated PC montoring screen now! Thanks for sharing!
I am actually watching this video on my extended screen (MiPad) which is USB tethered. So, no noticeable delay, acceptable smooth video (off youtube) playing on the Mipad. In fact, I had to use the lower resolution to keep the text legible on the Mipad!! :) Thank you so much. Watching tutorials and following on whatever program just became easier on my the laptop.
I usually run 3 x 24 inch displays. I will add this to my tool box in future and see how it works with my older Samsung 6 and Nexus 7 to display my HWinfo graphs. Thanks.
I found this video because my laptop screen was damaged so, I could use my phone as the screen of my laptop... This was very useful for, thanks bro... ♥️
This is the solution I was looking for. I always had the need to use a second-monitor with my laptop on the go. but couldn't do it (because I didn't have a second phone to do so.) Thank you so much, you saved me.
A while back I tried this with Spashtop wired free, performance was rather good and it would run on a tablet or phone via cable; I believe that program has become naggy and has problems though according to more recent reviews. The wired versions were quite a bit faster than wifi based ones with the added benefit of not running the remote screen device down as it's powering from the laptop (presumably plugged in), there are also some big security benefits if you're running the laptop's wifi on, say, a library's wifi network. Overall I'd defer to a cabled connection for this type of use, the advantages over things like dedicated external screens are numerous including less to carry and dual use devices; if you're working on a static image in that type of environment (e.g. putting your chat or FB or email client in that window) it makes an awful lot of sense without any more to really carry if you carry a tablet already.
Great video! I think it is great to be able to use old devices again. Thanks for explaining so well. I am sure that they're many ways I will use this hack.
While it's cool, I believe it's still much more practical to have a proper second monitor directly connected to the system. Also for my personal setup, having some sort of resource monitor up on a secondary display is not needed as I have a VFD display connected to my serial port, which uses LCDSmartie to drive the display. It shows things like CPU/GPU usage, RAM/Swap usage, time and date, storage space used, uptime, and if any music is playing, it shows the title and artist, along with timecode.
im doing my architectural thesis right now and im glad i found this 😂 used my phone as a second monitor for spotify/browsing window while modelling on my main monitor.
this helps me a lot and use my one Top of the Line cellphone unit (Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G) as my 2nd monitor and my gaming laptop as my Main Screen. Thank You.
i don't know why my tablet shows connected but display off. and my pc doesn't detect it as a second screen. i'm so confuse. no idea how to fix it. any idea?

You could use MSI afterburner and Afterburner server statistics, then you can use the app on your phone to display computer stats on your phone screen while gaming. It's how I do it
Yes it does, I just installed and tried this out. Works sooo great and I was supprised when I started using the dispaly on my android phone and controlled my PC, Great!
@@Chris_Love , cool! Thanks for confirming! So if you put the task bar on the phone screen, you could effectively have PC apps on your phone if you leave the connection up. I bet a blue tooth keyboard, connected to the phone, would also work. I'm going to make a video showing "Windows8 on an old Android phone"!
On your phone when you drag a screen onto it, can you touch screen the phone to change setting. Much like taking the phone into another room to edit things like cubase start record delete etc...
This is awesome. I'm not a huge multitasker, just want to do things like check discord and look something up sometimes. That doesn't justify spending in excess of 100 pounds.
Thank you for this great video!!! With so many people working remotely, this is immensely helpful. I have an extra tablet and do not need to buy another monitor now 😁
Is there a way to do this with a phone? Basically use an older phone as a second screen for a newer phone. I'd like to do that since I don't have a laptop, but I have 2 phones, it would be great if I could use the older one as a second screen
If that's all what you need to display on the second screen, then you really need to get your hands on a Logitech G19 keyboard and AIDA64. That's how I display all of my system stats (ie temperature, clocks, utilization, etc.). Never upgraded/replaced it because it's so useful and I'm not a huge fan of mechanical keyboards anyways.
Awesome software, I’ll definitely check this out. I had used duet display which is a near lag free to use an iPhone or iPad as a second screen, but this is way more powerful! (Minus windows server only)
iv tried it now, have a old 10 inch tab i want test with this productively, tables picks up the server app and pc ip, when connect i get a message saying Connected - Display OFF
Interesting, but I am not sure if I would ever use the software. My one and only phone is too small to be useful as a display, and if I am going to boot up a laptop to follow a tutorial, for example, then there would be no need to run that tutorial on the desktop and stream to the laptop. In any case, thanks for making the video and showing us the possibilities.
I still have a Motorola Z2 Force with a projector attachment. It would be pretty neat to have a second screen projected on to the wall. It's to bad I have a macbook...
i connected two external displays, one via hdmi 17in screen and one through spacedesk, my hdmi display started to blink continuously after that wireless (mobile phone)was connected but stopped blinking when i turned off that connection, what is the solution?
Doesn't work on newer Nvidia drivers.. it also states it on their website before downloading.. says "nvidia drivers are broken" .. ?! Interesting statement.
What if one android phone is recording a video and I want the feed from the first phone to show wirelessly on my second android phone? Is there an app for that?
