    Let me introduce you to the Brazilian turbocharged Montaer MC01. With Brazil becoming a major player in the aviation industry, it's no surprise that the Montaer MC01 is a great example of their airplane manufacturing expertise.
    Drawing inspiration from the popular Paradise LSA and Tecnam high wing series, the Montaer boasts a unique design that offers enhanced comfort, safety, and performance. Its 141hp turbocharged Rotax 915is engine and DUC 4-bladed propeller deliver impressive power and a smooth ride. With a steel tubing frame and lightweight aluminum skin, you can feel the quality and craftsmanship that has gone into the MC01. And a detail I personally love, the montaer incorporated yokes from top-of-the-line Beechcraft airplanes, which just adds to its premium feel.
    The Montaer MC01's interior is simple yet luxurious, which provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience for pilots. The dual Garmin G3X glass cockpit is the centerpiece of the airplane's impressive technology, making it a serious contender for both light sport pilots and hard IFR cross-country aviators alike.

      @phillp7777 the new rules when made law in 2024 will mean that lifhtbsport pilots will be able to fly aircraft with a max weight of 3000lbs plus. No longer limited to 120knots but can go up to 250knots. No longer limited to fixed prop but can fly constant speed prop. No longer limited to fixed gear aircraft but can fly retractable gear. I own an LSA and have inspected most models available in the USA. This airplane seems to have found a way to reduce it's weight while still giving a huge cabin. I am not sure that I believe their numbers, particularly when compared to a Bristell that has gone to exotic materials to reduce weight, has a simpler design, and is still heavier.

      @gmonnig ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yep, which is exactly what an O-360 lycoming puts out at max cruise setting (75% of 180hp= 135hp). The benefit of the 915/916 is holding that power above where the lycoming starts wheezing out. Basically anything above 10k feet, the Rotax makes more power.

      @@phillp7777 A NACA duct as he calls it is efficient in redirecting low pressure air inside the cowling or air frame. However, for an intercooler it requires high pressure air, a NACA duct would simply have the air flow over it, not into it. The intercooler would have to be much larger to accommodate the lack of flow that a NACA duct provides. Intercoolers are very restrictive in air flow so they need pressure, hence the scoop.

    That is a top-of-the-line VFR panel. For IFR you need a certified navigator such as a 175,375,650 or 750. The salesman mentioned that they have space for the navigator, but I don’t think a certified Light Sport can be IFR rated unless the owner
    converts it to Experimental.
    I’d love to be wrong about this, so please chime in!

    • @BonanzaPilot
      @BonanzaPilot ปีที่แล้ว

      A single G3X with a 650 would cost pretty much the exact same amount and make the plane substantially more capable. I don't understand the dual G3X thing in single pilot airplanes

    • @glenwoodriverresidentsgrou136
      @glenwoodriverresidentsgrou136 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be used as an IFR trainer, but can’t fly actual IMC as a light sport. Once designated as a light sport, you can’t re-designate it as an experimental. Once designated, forever designated. It must be designated an experimental initially. If homebuilt, that’s easy, if manufactured and purchased, it must be designated for racing and air show use only and paperwork is more complex to be experimental. “Normal” flights are then treated as “training and proficiency flights” in the racing and air show category. IMC is theoretically doable in this configuration, but as light sports may not be certified for lightning, it may or may not be wise. Also, light sports are speed limited, experimentals are not. Talk to a Pipistrel deal for details on this.

      @mauriceevans6546 Yes Mosaic. August? Sure. It's way behind schedule. The people who started it in FAA have left, and the new people are clueless, maybe DE&I hires. The past dead-lines have come and gone before. They BIT OFF more than they could chew, tried to have ONE umbrella for UAV's and LSA and general aviation and more all in one, They NOW are trying to untangle all of that, separate them.
      However a LSA airplane is and will still be a LSA. If you exceed current limits, then you will not be an LSA. LSA is still going to be LSA's. This yet undefined enhanced category above LSA (passably retract gear, controllable prop, higher weight, faster speeds) amd below Certified Standard Category planes, will likely require additional pilot requirements and medical requirements, plus other rules and Regs. It is a MESS.
      WHO KNOWS. We have not seen it and been promised it for a long time. I doubt we will see anything soon. It is like Positive ID of Drones with beacons over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi anyone can access. Without it you are limited to ONLY flying in a designate flying zone. That deadline is near and still no standard to comply. The GOV is full of dumb underworked over paid incompetent bureaucrats, and sadly now woke socialist neo Marxist beholding to China, who paid them off. They are too lazy and lack discipline and focus. Their brains have been rewired by TikTok short videos for dopamine rushes. I have little faith in Giv now and expect FBI will raid my home for disagreeing and criticism of Gov tyrants.

    LSA cannot fly faster than 120 mph so what would be the need for a 4 bladed prop? LSA is limited to 1320 lbs gross weight, so that means with 2 people you could not have full fuel without being over the gross weight. If the plane weighs more than 800 lbs., there is nothing left for any people. Light Sport in Europe and South America is quite different than the USA.

      It makes it more universal, I had to drop down to light sport, hopefully temp, I could buy this, be light sport legal then when I can get a medical, it would have better performance that I would want to be able to access

      Light sport rules announcement expected by August.
      Increase weight
      Increase speed
      Constant speed prop
      Four place aircraft
      Possible retractable gear

      The number of blades on a prop has nothing to do with max speed. In a very general sense, more blades often give you better acceleration and climb performance at slower speeds along with less noise. It used to be that more blades meant you needed those because you couldn't fit a max diameter two blade prop due to ground clearance, and those props weren't very efficient and hurt performance. These days there are so many caveats to prop and blade design that the number of blades a prop has is near meaningless now that composite blades are available that offer radically different profiles than traditional metal or wood blades. Two blade props used to be the gold standard for efficiency back when all blades had the same basic design, but these days they're able to get three, four, and five blade props with better efficiency and fewer drawbacks than those two blade props. The high aspect ratio blade profiles of composite props are far more efficient but need more blades to absorb the same amount of power as a chunky aluminum two blade prop. So the answer to your question is because that particular prop offer better performance across the entire flight regime, not just top speed.

      @@flyinghigh5031 I can see this being viable if one is willing to do a lease-back with a responsible FBO training enterprise. What a great platform for three things: 1. Training students through the Sport Pilot exam; 2. Ab-initio training for first few hours in order to vet students' ability to receive in-flight training and 3. Transition pilots into glass panels as an affordable practium on modern flight directors.

      All of these higher performance, light sport aircraft are designed to technically be flown legally under the light sport certificate, but the unwritten rule is, it will definitely be flown at a higher weight.
