I like the 2 MKBHD idea, but the other one needs to play a completely different character. You should be able to tell them apart just by audio without the video. If you close your eyes and just listen, its really a mess.
I know this wasn’t your intention but you’ve just created the PERFECT, engaging and relevant, example for this English teacher to use when teaching students how to format argument. Plus, you’ve completely persuaded me not to be distracted by “new and shiny”. Awesome job, man!
i was about to comment the exact same thing ! minus the english teacher part hahaha the content , creation , production and editing was SO on point . not only was it educational and really well written , the videography was killer and the editing was astounding . super catching video . totally following you MK because holy hell you are talented . if you put this together yourself . . . . (even if you didn’t) . . seriously wowza
I remember when I made this same comment about headphone jacks 3 years ago on MKBHD's iPod touch video lol You're about to be top comment, since my comment i speak of is top on that video with like 35k likes or something
We really need to appreciate how well marques has played the roles, it seems pretty natural and believable that these are two different characters discussing. I have no idea how they did it to be so natural, but it’s fantastic!
I would guess he had one of his studio mates say that dialog to him, while he reacted live to the lines. (The entire dialog being prewritten ofcourse). So they just had to switch places and switch dialog.
@@neondemon5137 god its so boring at this point, the only people saying 'isheep' or clowns about apple users are just bitter android users. Literally no one cares what product you use.
since nobody mentioned anything about this, I'm only considering the m2 because I don't wanna let go of the touchbar. It's been extremely useful in my day to day and if only they made a version of it in the new M1's then I would just go with that.
I just purchased the M2 MBP 8gb 256ssd coming from a Surface Pro 3i7. I bought it from best buy for 1000 bucks. Should I return it or is that a good purchase? I will be doing graphic design and some minor video editing.
In my opinion, and it seems like a lot of comments agree. This is my favorite MKBHD style of video I have ever seen. Forget trying to remain unbiased embrace it on both sides. While I assume this was much more difficult to plan, execute, and edit, it was brilliant.
Marques has never claimed to be "unbiased" and has talked about how every reviewer has their own biases and that's what we typically calibrate ourselves to when following specific reviewers over time (they're based on opinions and personal experiences after all). But I agree this is a good way of weighing two sides of an argument, albeit it might confuse people who just see two valid arguments instead of getting clearer opinions on whether to make a purchase decision.
@@tubester358 I’d say that’s for the best. If the consumer population is looking for someone to tell them which is the clear cut best option, then they’re just looking to be lied to and manipulate. It should be standard that people have to think and weigh pros and cons on all sides before making a purchase decision
He knows he doesn't HAVE to take videos to this insanely clever and high quality level to be success, earn a comfortable living, etc. Pushing it to this level to just blow everything out of the water in quality and creativity. That's a choice. There are easier roads and this team doesn't take them. And that's why I'll always respect this channel.
but unfortunately, they are only creative when it comes to review of Apple products. Any other tech review is done with lack of interest. But they go all out for Apple. Its no secret that Apple may be sponsoring this guy.
This is why I chose the base M2 Macbook Pro over the air: - probably last macbook to ever have a touchbar - cooling fans - obnoxiously long battery life - incredible speakers that you can't even put next to the mb air - I thought it was the perfect way to get into MB pro ownership without having to sell a kidney - there will always be enthusiasts willing to pay for a used touchbar model and this one is the best of them, which will drastically slow down its depreciation - with the superfast and super efficient M2 chip, even 8gb storage feels enough even during more demanding tasks - in the age of iCloud, dropbox etc you really don't need more than 256gb of storage unless you are a content creator or similar - SSD might be slower than the last gen, but it is the equivalent of a car doing 3.5 sec 0-60 instead of 2.5 (still faster than pretty much anything else) Of course, it is not as powerful as the M1 pro and max laptops and yes, for a serious developer/content creator/similar, these specs are laughable. But for an average person who wants that little bit of extra performance over the air or just wants to try out what a macbook pro is like, it is absolutely perfect.
I just don’t get it, why apple got that ssd problem? It’s a shame a company this cannot fix this problem. I’m a student and most of time doing some file works or presentations, sometimes need to video editing or photo editing, so the M2 MBP 13’ will be a best option….. but the ssd problem smh i just want to buy a laptop could last long as my MBP 13’ 2014.
I agree 100%, this is the last great MacBook pro IMO. I just got the 512gb model of the 2022 m2 13.3", upgrading from the 2016 and its night and day difference in speed, it's been amazing. Also, 8gb memory* not storage lol.
This was a really cool review format! You can tell that Marques actually went through this line of thinking himself, and it translated really well into a video! Great job, Marques!
@@pieceofshitzu2 You think she was the first to do it? Having 2 of yourself debate something on video isn't a new idea, it has been done before even the internet existed. Just because someone has done a format doesn't mean someone else can't.
Point of correction he has been doing tech reviews since 2009 the I say this is because Brownlee joined TH-cam on March 21, 2008. He first started uploading technology videos in January 2009, while still in high school, about new products or reviews of products he already owned. He produced his first videos through screencasting.
I've never been more attentive, than while watching 2 MKBHDs have an understandable conversation. I just bought the M2 literally 2 days ago and love it. BUT! This is really interesting to hear the 2 sides tho. like... maybe i should have waited for the m2 air to come out...
return it (edit) I want to add some substance to my post. Rather than just saying return it , here's why. the m2 pro 13 inch just doesn't have enough good about it to justify spending the money for it. For someone who really needs sustained performance they'll also be needing 16gb of ram which is another cost added on the the 13 inch pro and with storage starting only at 256gb thats another upgrade to pay for. At that point this user should go for the m1 pro base model 14 inch which offers great sustained performance with the baseline m1 pro chip and comes with 16gb of ram and 512gb of ssd to start. If this user only pushes the machine hard sometimes but still wants decent performance without the high cost then the m2 air or m1 air on a discount would be the way to go. I just CAN NOT recommend the 13 inch pro m2 to anyone as it makes no sense as a product to me. Some will argue its stellar battery life to which I say all apple silicon MacBooks have amazing battery life anyways (better than any windows based machine) so I wouldn't make a purchase based on battery life alone as many other feature will Impact the experience more so.
I think this could have been solved years ago by re-introducing the “Macbook” as the budget laptop and moving the Air to the mid tier. I think price and performance wise there’s way to big of a price gap between the new Air and the real “Pro” laptops. I can imagine it now a 11/13” Macbook, 13”/15” Air and 14”/16” Pro.
They did reintroduce the Macbook a couple years after they introduced the Air, and it was an absolute dog of a machine (source: my company bought one because we had a user who wanted the ports they couldn't get on the Air.)
I was Just thinking that maybe apple make a budget friendly like close to 700 for a new laptop for people who don't want to pay 1k plus for a computer might would get more sales from a lot of people maybe have a Mac for 700 then step up to air then pro
You know you reached the next level when most of the comments are about the video editing quality rather than the great information in the content. Congrats to the team ! hope to see more of this
First Mac I've bought and the only reason I bought it was because of the touch bar, if the higher models included the bar I would consider those too. Honestly, it's the only thing that differentiates the look of the macs from the 2010 versions, which I feel the higher models look similar to.
100% on enterprise - when launched the 1st thought I had was 'cool, that's probably going to be my next work computer', since companies seem to be only getting 13in MBP, for some reason.
Macs generally last longer than Windows laptops. Windows is a more capable OS, but it runs like crap compared to Mac. I’ve never owned a Windows machine that doesn’t end up with the BSOD, driver problems or a virus. Never had issues with MacOS.
@@Spazza42 That's rubbish. Butterfly keyboard have problems all the time and it' the most unreliable one. If you know how to install antivirus, virus is just not a problem. You're just comparing a cheap windows machine to expensive macbook. The problem is cheap windows laptops comes with hdd which is slow and make everything run like crap as you mentioned.
@@clickbaitpro this. If windows pull a Google pixel and put out a quality branded laptop I’ll be happy. So done with brand x with this issues and brand y with that issues etc
@@Spazza42 Honestly, others seem to have problems with Windows a lot. I've never had these issues with any of the devices I've used. The Windows PC that I custom built years ago still kicks today, never had virus issues even without any proprietary AV, just your Windows Defender and some common sense. But a lot of others, including my friends, have had their Windows (mostly laptops) run into some or the other issue either 1 or 2 years down the line.
I chose the M2 Pro over the M2 air and M1 Pro because i needed something inbetween. I had a 2017 Macbook Pro 13inch and A. I didn't want to miss the touch bar without ever using it (and i really do like it over the keys), the fans which help run programs better and speakers. Also there are so many apps that cut off the top of the screen because of the notch which i was fine with on the iphone and would even be fine with on the ipad but not on the macbook
@@oozly9291 it does everything the normal keys do plus things like shortcuts and the slider for music and stuff. Also it’s just more satisfying for a keyboard
im in the same situation as you, lol but i figured id rather just get the M2 Pro 14 inch because the specs are insane (i dont like the touchbar on the 13 either). i just have to save up a couple more hundred for a little longer but it's worth it in the long run
@@tofupowda yeah it’s seems like the extra ports are the only good selling point for me but by then I had enough adapters and I didn’t really care much about the frames
The only way I can think to describe this video is virtuosic. It worked on every level. Having two Marqueses in dialogue was really effective and saved some money by not having to have a second person in studio. Great and informative review and an incredibly skillful production.
Saving some money? Bruh. This two-person effect is way more time consuming than just bring second person. Its not effective, it just looks good, its innovative, creative and done well.
How do you save money, you have to film for a minimum of two times the original. You more than likely have multiple takes (to get the timing just right), you have to script out literally everything (to ensure you respond to each point correctly). Alternatively, you could just do a single take where you respond to the guests points in real time. Maybe you do another take if you don't nail the response, but you can at least react in real time to the other parties points without having to script it, or "time" your responses. And as others have pointed out, you probably end up having to have a second person sitting in the seat "pretending" to be your clone to allow you to actually converse. So you end up using another persons time anyway.
Wow! You've hit it out of the park for the video and editing. I completely forgot both are same person. There were no awkward moments. With very natural pause, responses between the characters!! Hats off to your editing team. Even movies find it hard to pull this off!
THe only reason I‘d consider this model is the Touch Bar…if you’re typing a lot its really helpful…I wished apple had a 14/16 inch version with the Touch Bar
That comment just made me feel better!! I just purchased a m2 macbook pro touchbar yesterday, I was starting to doubt my decision. Now can't wait for it to arrive :D
The creativity, and production that went into creating this is by far the best I have ever seen on TH-cam!!! The inter-dialogue between yourself is simply flawless, I literally thought you had a doppelganger in the studio hahaha . Great job Marques!!!!! 🐐
This is a new level of production and honestly I've never seen this pulled off so well. And the review needed that pro/con way of looking at it to so it wasn't just a schtick. Well done!
I got the M2 Pro yesterday, better battery and cooling. 90% of the time I will only use it for minimal tasks but it's nice to know when I need it to perform harder it won't fail me.
I have already contemplated upgradeing to the M2 Pro 16-inch MacBook Pro because my current 2015 i7 MacBook Pro just cannot compete with Apple silicon. Plus, my 2015 MacBook Pro doesn't support Ventura.
Hey guys. I had no MacBook before and want now my first but i see so much about the touchbar and I like it. But should I buy it only because I love the touchbar or it is not so important that it’s better to buy the new pro m2 pro???
@@pitrohde8847 Go for it if you like the touch bar functionality. The M2 14inch and 16inch are just too expensive that the only justification for it is that you are really using it for professional work.
One thing both of you guys (MKBHD and Marques Brownlee) have in common that you could not resist is folding of arms and placing your hand under or side your cheek when you are listening. That’s awesome how we accustoms to being relaxed using certain body gesture that even ourselves are not aware of. Great editing
The 6 year old MBP 13" with touch bar probably never sold as well as Apple hoped (probably also thanks to the unpopular touch bar, an expensive component most didn't want but which increased the overall price of that machine nonetheless; and lack of physical F-keys), so Apple had thousands of 6 year old parts for the MBP 13" either in shelfs or still locked in production contracts. And to get rid of all the parts that are either lying on the shelf or still have to be ordered obligatorily, they frankensteined this M2 MacBook Pro 13" as an "exit strategy" basically. I suspect that this machine will be available for as long as the pent-up parts/contracts last. This could be a year or several years. This product could very well be the kind of product that in a few years' time we will still be wondering why it is still being offered, like the non-Retina MacBook Air (2008 design) that was still sold well into 2019.
I think the solution could be a ‘MacBook SE’ much like the IPhone SE line. Modern day components in an old shell, priced down and aimed at the budget market E.g students.
The MacBook with a Touch bar was such a smart move to make it stand out from the crowd. That was something new that we haven't seen till the date. The touch bar was so easy to use and was extremely useful in editing. It should be back with some changes but disappearing immediately from Mac is kind of disappointing for those who actually loved that feature.
Seems like Apple has just introduced a “middle option” to get people to buy up to the 14” M1 MacBook Pro. Probably a good way to make sure they clear out any excess inventory they have of that model before introducing the M2 Pro chips in the next iteration of those laptops
I love how he’s able to be neutral and argue for both sides. Really helps in the decision making process. I can’t afford either tho, so I’ll stick with my 13in Intel 8th Gen MacBook Pro from 2020 lol.
In my opinion, the MacBook Pro 13 exists to serve a single purpose in Apple's vision. To bait people into buying the more expensive 14" Macbook because as you said, when you spec out the 13" to the point where it actually makes sense, it comes dangerously close to the base tier 14" and at that point, you are already around $1800 in, so might as well put another $200 and get the more expensive machine. Probably a lot similar to the Starbucks ploy of having Tall, Grande, Venti where if you're looking to order Grande, most of the times you'd be tempted to spend +$2 and get the bigger Venti. I am not saying that MacBook 13" is bad in any sense, it is still a very capable machine, but the current MacBook line-up is a weirdly wide and unequal coverage for how much Value you can get for your Money.
This is pretty common pricing strategy. You introduce a middle option and it usually drives more customers to spend more money for the higher priced option as its perceived to be a better deal.
Businesses do it all the effin timess !! APPLE has been extra notorious with the iphone 12, pro and pro max, base iPad, Air and Pro and this time it's Macbooks turn! Far closer in price range than ever before
@@liveahappylife1 honestly you cannot go wrong with either. If the M2 MacBook Pro 13” meets all your requirements, you should absolutely go ahead and buy it. There’s no point in spending more and more money on incremental upgrades because then only top-of-the-line stuff makes sense. Measure the device’s features against your requirements and if it ticks all the boxes, buy it without regret. There’s always new & better tech around the corner so whatever we buy today will become old tomorrow.
I have to say I loved this concept and going over the pros and cons comparing the two, rather the conventional way of listing ‘em and wow I just couldn’t unsee that video clip of the Tesla’s shatterproof glass cracking which was played briefly during this video! MKBHD is definitely scaling up with new video concepts and still keeping that minimalist touch to it!
The one on the left was recorded first, you can actually hear his lines in the background while speaking, probably the right one was listening to a recording 😊
I absolutely love this video. Your conversation is exactly what’s inside my head for the 2 weeks. I just don’t know which decision is the best. BUT: We really need a behind the scenes!! 😂
The only thing I can think is that this is the result of current supply chain issues. They didn't have enough of the new shells, screens, etc, -- and couldn't get them made as quickly as they used to in a post Covid-world -- but they looked around had plenty of the old ones sitting around. Thats... that's all i got.
Or they just want something to massively differentiate between their Pro models. They want a pro which has the name and several professional features and a pro which is for the most demanding of professionals. Price difference is perfect
@@bigmac22ify and air is made less powerful to distinguish it from the smaller Pro. They should just make a MacBook, MacBook Air to replace THIS Pro, and reserve the MacBook Pro name for their most powerful laptops.
It is so Apple could keep the manufacturing lines EXACTLY the same to keep up supply. The M2 Air isn't here yet and will be incredibly constrained for months I'd assume.
I am an It student and here's why I choose the 13 " MB p over the m2 13" air . On first glance, i thought the m2 air was a great deal at $999 ( student discount) but then i was sure 8 gigs wasn't enough so i pressed the 16 option . Then i noticed the m2 chip in the air is not really m2 , it has 2 less GPU cores so just for fun i selected the 10 core model . With those 2 upgrades i was sitting at $1279 ( with student discount) . Then I glossed over to the 13" MB p . It has a fan, better speakers , and the 16GB model would cost me 1379$ ( with discount) . The SSD gate isn't really a thing unless you're moving very large files which i won't be doing on a 256 GB MacBook . I already know I'll have to buy some sort of dongle so not having the magsafe ain't really a big deal for me . The reason i can't go for the 14" is because it starts at $1850 ( with student discount) . $1500 is already stretching my budget so $1900 is out of my options. So yea, if you're a student but do video editing and want a bit more oomph , 13" mac book is a good option . Marquess glossed over this saying upgrades to the 13" will net you 1900$ but the only upgrade that is a "need" for someone in my shoes is the RAM and by the time i upgrade RAM on the air , it's almost at a similar price
Well, I do change from Windows based laptop to MacBook Pro M2 13inch now, and.... I am really happy with it ! Active cooling sys., Touch bar, fast speed working, better microphones, 0% percentage credit option.... It is worth to buy at all !!!
Hey Marques. I wanted to say that your videos are really fun to watch and at the same time you give a lot of info that helps people buy the right things. It’s as well amazing how your channel keeps growing. I’m a subscriber since
I love the sheer amount of Intel MacBook Pro footage you were able to recycle in this video, it’s so hard to tell them apart other than the keyboard and older version of macOS
Forget the MacBook, this is your best video ever, the continuity alone 🤯 I could watch You do all head to head comparisons like this FOREVER and it won’t get old, trust me, we love hearing pros and cons! Amazing video MKBHD! 🔥
Was literally at bestbuy a couple hours ago trying to make this choice. Thankfully ended up getting the m1 pro Macbook pro. Basically for all the reasons listed here. Ideally would have waited for the m2 pro Macbook pros but unfortunately my old air is dying and I need an upgrade now.
I ended up getting it because I do really like the touch bar. Sure, it's not perfect, but once you get used to it, you almost can't live without it. I love the auto correct in multi languages as a tri lingual person. I love having emojis available there. I love having specific toggles in different apps there. So I even sacrificed going from a 16 inch screen to the M1s 13 inch, just to keep the touchbar.
YESSSSS the auto correct for trilingual people and people that work with 2 or more languages is amazing. I would love to have a MacBook Air with new design and touch bar, until they update the screen and bring Touch Bar I won’t be switching from my 2020 pro
Got an M1 Pro Macbook last month, thought I'd regret buying it after the M2 launch - best laptop I've ever used, hands down. And thanks a lot for this video, now I can justify my decision lol
In a perfect world, the user could choose between a keyboard layout with a touchbar or one without a touchbar, for me the touchbar is great and has a lot of potential. Great video BTW
I've purchased the touchbar one yesterday and just going to YT videos now. I'm not sure whether I made the right choice.. I guess I'll have to find out when it arrives..
Great and detailed video, but I thought of one more reason for sticking with the old design: What if you already own a really nice, and expensive, leather slip cover, or some other accessory like a dongle, that only fits that particular form factor? Maybe you'd like to be able to upgrade to the newest version of Mac, and still be able to keep that stuff.
This is how you should host the waveform podcast, with a little bit more differing opinions for us to see sth from different angles. Waveform has a lot of agreeing with each other leading to delivery of single points. All in all love both channels. 🇰🇪
I’m a broke college kid that finally needs to upgrade from my 2015 MacBook Pro and this helped me so SO much and was such a great summary of literally everything thank you thank you !!
I got the 14-inch Macbook Pro and I'm so happy. I think the new Air would fit me better but damn this machine is a beast and didn't have patient to wait
I've always appreciated this format since the Verge debut it, but I am surprised that no one is talking about the very insightful punchline at the end.... Apple did create this laptop for enterprise. And that is ridiculous for the most "valuable" and "innovative" company in the world.
Honestly I think the they had lots of extra parts hanging around conspiracy is correct. Itll be gone by next refresh cycle or might even fade away mid cycle.
@@BevoFan1883 lots of companies are doing it, when they had to buy in bulk to help avert the supply chain issues of the last few years. Nintendo bought 5 years’ worth of SOCs and screens, for instance, so they’re going to keep selling those models of Switch without an upgrade until they’re almost all gone. Apple can afford at least to put them side by side.
I got this laptop for university over the new M2 air for processing in software like photoshop and premiere pro, but also wanted the Touch Bar for media consumption, communication, and content creation in graphic design programs. This is probably the last MacBook with the Touch Bar (which I love and tend to use quite a bit) so being able to get it at the best possible price with the newest processor was a win for me.
hey, i have a question. I'm soon about to study UX Design and really don't know if the Adobe Apps and some prototyping programs are able to be handled by an m2 or rather an m1 pro. would you recommend me the 14" m1 pro which i currently tend to buy rather than "Just" the New Macbook Air m2..? Pro is definitely gonna last longer. I’m talking 6 years easily. The air will last about 4 years unless you go for a fully spec one, ie. 16gb or 24gb ram. They are both stupid powerful, whichever you choose (as long as you get 16gb ram minimum), you’ll have no problem at all.

Seems lots of people are simply sold on the Touch Bar and fans. Having had my fans regularly turn on even just running a second screen on my 2017 MacBook Pro, I was nervous to go the Air without fans.

One of the maybe under-appreciated things about MKBHD lately is his continued interest in visual experimentation. It's no longer just a guy talking to a camera, and hasn't been for several years now. It hit me when I watched the intro to his iOS 16 video. He didn't have to do any of that, and it was only 4-5 seconds long, but it's really nice and I appreciate the craftsmanship.

@@perkyoracles7534 okay so heres what i can tell you since i dont have any idea about your needs. Based on my experience with both, if you want something fresh and good looking that is more about aesthetics with balanced performance and good battery life then Air is the go to however if you dont care about the aesthetics and you are concerned about performance then MB pro is better choice here since it has a slightly longer battery life and an active cooling to run the M2 at higher power consumption (which is half for the Air) which results in better performance. It is good to note that both share the same display, ports , speakers , mics except the webcam is better on the Air with 1080p and 720p on the Pro model unless you decide to go for MBP 14 or 16 which are on different category and hardware. I think they should keep this core idea of the same chip as the mba but with a fan, but square it off (while keeping the Touch Bar ) to keep the design language coherent and rename it to MacBook Studio. It just makes sense : the Touch Bar was most useful for the creative uses, so it would be an option for those who need the Touch Bar.
Hey right on you're bringing back Lauren Goode's series from the Verge. Never understood why more people didn't attempt the style. It's a fantastic storytelling device for iterative devices.
For Business grads, they might know a term called "Decoying" MacBook Pro M2 is basically a decoy product. Its a product that is supposed to make the MacBook Pro 14inch too good and for budget customers, make MacBook Air M2 too good. No one is supposed to buy this, but its existence will increase the sales of M2 14 inch as people with Air in mind will see Pro M2 and say, why not buy MacBook Pro for 200$ more.
I think you'd be right if it was $200 more. But it's not. It's $700 more. That's base price, but I don't buy that the machine is useless without $500 in upgrades, even if it's not an optimal configuration.
The 13" MacBook Pro isn't really a decoy product. It is Apple's #2 selling Mac, after the MacBook Air. Why? Because of pricing. The pricing of the 14" MacBook Pro is much, much higher.

It’s a nice format, but everyone and their mother has done the „two point of view“ style whenit comes to reviewing things
What clearly helped him is having a M1 MacBook Pro.
It was embarrassing...
@@tubester358 I’d say that’s for the best. If the consumer population is looking for someone to tell them which is the clear cut best option, then they’re just looking to be lied to and manipulate. No, raising the stakes and quality is how a channel grows. He’s not looking to stop at being a TH-camr with 16M subs.
This is why I chose the base M2 Macbook Pro over the air:
- probably last macbook to ever have a touchbar
- cooling fans
- obnoxiously long battery life
- incredible speakers that you can't even put next to the mb air
- I thought it was the perfect way to get into MB pro ownership without having to sell a kidney
- there will always be enthusiasts willing to pay for a used touchbar model and this one is the best of them, which will drastically slow down its depreciation
- with the superfast and super efficient M2 chip, even 8gb storage feels enough even during more demanding tasks
- in the age of iCloud, dropbox etc you really don't need more than 256gb of storage unless you are a content creator or similar
- SSD might be slower than the last gen, but it is the equivalent of a car doing 3.5 sec 0-60 instead of 2.5 (still faster than pretty much anything else)
Of course, it is not as powerful as the M1 pro and max laptops and yes, for a serious developer/content creator/similar, these specs are laughable. But for an average person who wants that little bit of extra performance over the air or just wants to try out what a macbook pro is like, it is absolutely perfect.
256 gb isn’t enough for most people now a days though, cloud services have their limits and carrying external drives is a pain.
This is actually a great point...mac enthusiasts still go wild over the last unibody iteration of the Macbook Pro...def has collector item potential

I’d definitely return it if I were you buddy
Must say I agree with Chris, while you can return it. Unless you’re happy with it, I guess
return it (edit) I want to add some substance to my post.
Not me, I'm waiting for the M8 with 2GB of RAM and 128GB SSD! Oh and 1 port!
M2 air > m2 mbp
I think this could have been solved years ago by re-introducing the “Macbook” as the budget laptop and moving the Air to the mid tier. I think price and performance wise there’s way to big of a price gap between the new Air and the real “Pro” laptops. I can imagine it now a 11/13” Macbook, 13”/15” Air and 14”/16” Pro.
They did reintroduce the Macbook a couple years after they introduced the Air, and it was an absolute dog of a machine (source: my company bought one because we had a user who wanted the ports they couldn't get on the Air.)

The only way I can think to describe this video is virtuosic. It worked on every level. Having two Marqueses in dialogue was really effective and saved some money by not having to have a second person in studio. Great and informative review and an incredibly skillful production.
Agreed on all accounts, yes! :-)
you definitely need a second person when filming these as a reference

@@pitrohde8847 think of the pro 13" as basically an air with better performance and fans.

are you telling me these two folks are actually the same person?????? no way
The 6 year old MBP 13" with touch bar probably never sold as well as Apple hoped (probably also thanks to the unpopular touch bar, an expensive component most didn't want but which increased the overall price of that machine nonetheless; and lack of physical F-keys), so Apple had thousands of 6 year old parts for the MBP 13" either in shelfs or still locked in production contracts.

Far closer in price range than ever before
does that mean its better to buy the MacBook pro 13 or 14?
@@liveahappylife1 honestly you cannot go wrong with either. If the M2 MacBook Pro 13” meets all your requirements, you should absolutely go ahead and buy it. There’s no point in spending more and more money on incremental upgrades because then only top-of-the-line stuff makes sense.
Measure the device’s features against your requirements and if it ticks all the boxes, buy it without regret. There’s always new & better tech around the corner so whatever we buy today will become old tomorrow.
It exists because people like me hate the notch. I would rather buy this than a laptop with a notch.
I have to say I loved this concept and going over the pros and cons comparing the two, rather the conventional way of listing ‘em and wow I just couldn’t unsee that video clip of the Tesla’s shatterproof glass cracking which was played briefly during this video!

Return it in 29 days. Pickup new MacBook.
15 day return policy this jit is tripping
@@1stea1sou1s it varies from store to store. My local one said they would take it before a month alongside a receipt and item in good condition.
Lets not for get to mention the skip ads feature
I got it because i HATE the fact that the Air is not flat lol ..its the the flatness and the fans for me haha😁
YESSSSS the auto correct for trilingual people and people that work with 2 or more languages is amazing. I would love to have a MacBook Air with new design and touch bar, until they update the screen and bring Touch Bar I won’t be switching from my 2020 pro
I love Marques intros, always so clever and unique. Thank you for another insightful video, Brownlee!
@Don't Read My Profile Photo i can promise you i wont
@Don't Read My Profile Photo ha lmao
@@MbitaChizi not really, I mean literally in this video he said he wasn’t a fan. If he really was, he would be promoting it, you dont think?
Though Marques made some good points, I'm gonna have to side with Marques on this one.
Got an M1 Pro Macbook last month, thought I'd regret buying it after the M2 launch - best laptop I've ever used, hands down. And thanks a lot for this video, now I can justify my decision lol
I bought the m2 pro and iPad 12.9 pro thanks to all of the indecisive reviews lol
I've tried this format more than once. I couldn't pull it off. Bravo!
Glad to see that you've figured out the cloning process. Multiple Marqueses, that must make filming so much easier!
isn't the plural marquees?
Xd
God I feel like I learned so much just from the video style. It fits so well for a complicated topic simplified down to a conversation. LOVE IT!!
@@missjellykaren the Touch Bar is very useful
Imo. You’ll love it
I like how he twinned himself and the left one is blue like the light side and the right is red like the dark side😂
No, it's because it saves them money. Everything is about money to apple.
I'm speechless, I mean he presented that so well I forgot it was am edit
Apple clearly doesn't get that you have to wait a while before you can release a 'retro' version of something
I got the 14-inch Macbook Pro and I'm so happy. I think the new Air would fit me better but damn this machine is a beast and didn't have patient to wait
Love the side by side weigh-in! Would love to see more of this format for future comparisons!
…and one of the most profitable. I think that explains that decision
Ridiculous why? Enterprise makes Apple a shit ton of money. Corporations only care about money.
Marquess doesn’t have problems making videos again, he is now at the level of adding spice to make his video better as he makes em. Legend🔥❤️
after listening to both of you, I agree with Marques
I don't think a six-year-old design matters at all. At the end of the day, it's about what the individual consumer wants and needs.
I guess i will need 16gb ram and AT least 512gb ssd which make me think "Just get the m1 Pro and you will be fine".. 😢
@@Bluevite if you buy a “m” something Mac you will have no problems for prototyping UX, I do it with the older version. Adobe works perfectly with both Mac and some apps with the touchbar as well.
If you only need it for UX you can probably choose whatever you want ahah
@@deja1994x i would probably need it for prototyping in Adobe XD or Sketch and obviously numerous other Adobe Apps like Photoshop Illustrator and maybe some InDesign compared with some PremierePro projects. I don't know if the missing Fan of the air Models is a Problem. Thanks for your answer :)
@@Bluevite im not a huge expert, but I’d probably go with the M1 Pro just because of your graphically intense programs you’ll have to run. I’m sure the M2 Air will do the trick, but if you’re planning on getting the pro, then get the pro, mainly for the longevity of it (plus storage and ram)
I love my 14" just got it and its fantastic. The size is perfection. This video answered all the questions I kept wonder about this M2. I had no idea all this stuff, thank you.
Using two MKBHDs is a great idea that makes the video much more engaging by giving us to listen to more ideas. I have seen some old videos you are doing the same thing, but this is on another level. Wish I could see the same effect in later videos
I just got the M2 MacBook Pro, base model as I don't need much storage. Just came in here to say, thanks for all the comments which simply support the M2 MacBook Pro! Seems lots of people are simply sold on the Touch Bar and fans. Having had my fans regularly turn on even just running a second screen on my 2017 MacBook Pro, I was nervous to go the Air without fans.
How are you liking the labtop so far?
it's great! No regrets. Though there is a better Air out since I wrote this comment....@@Burger_fort
I purchased the M1 Pro 14" three months ago which I'm using now and trust me it is flawless. I agree with his argument on not buying the M2. Awesome review!👍
@Daniel Schmidt runs on macOS Monterey, Apple M1 Pro chip 16 GB memory, liquid Retina XDR Display 3024x1964, 500 GB flash storage, SDXC card slot card reader, HDMI port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, MagSafe 3 port charging, Three Thunderbolt 4 usb-c ports, 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Touch ID to unlock. This was a base model I didn't upgrade anything.
I love the puppy painting!! Mac was the star of this video :-).
Mac
One of the maybe under-appreciated things about MKBHD lately is his continued interest in visual experimentation. It's no longer just a guy talking to a camera, and hasn't been for several years now. It hit me when I watched the intro to his iOS 16 video. He didn't have to do any of that, and it was only 4-5 seconds long, but it's really nice and I appreciate the craftsmanship.
I am buying the MacBook pro 13 M2 within one week, I can care less what other people say about it.
I like the MacBook Pro 13 design better than the other newer models.
I don’t think you get a lot of credit for the type of videos you do. This is an amazing video, well done to you and your team!
i was this close to buy the M2 Macbook pro and i was skeptical about it at first since i iliked the design of the new AIR more but then i was like "wasnt pro always the best in the line up?" and here comes this video, im glad im pulling off on this one. thanks Marques!
Hi! I'm still confused to which macbook should i buy (the Air or Pro). Would you like to share your experience with M2 MBP after a few months?
Conclusion :
Air M2 : Light to mid tasks , thin , long battery life and sleek looking and good camera
MB Pro: Mid to High tasks, thin , longer battery life and old looking device with worse camera.
I hope this helped and if you need more you can just ask me
Was waiting for the other MKBHDs to come walking in with the shoe & say “ but are they fly as these kicks or can they feel cooler like these kicks or can they make you feel comfy like these kicks? “
Genius
Hey right on you're bringing back Lauren Goode's series from the Verge. Never understood why more people didn't attempt the style. It's a fantastic storytelling device for iterative devices.
FIrst thing that came to mind was: Lauren Goode
For Business grads, they might know a term called "Decoying"
MacBook Pro M2 is basically a decoy product.
Cracked my 14 inch MacBook Ori and ended up getting this. Hope I don't regret it
I demand a Studio Video for how you did what you just did in this incredible Video!
If it’s how he created such effect-
I think it’s just two video recordings in either side just fused together, i don’t think it’s as complicated as people think but nevertheless still arduous
Hardest part is him thinking when is the time to start talking. I think he pre recorded his review and listened to it before responding on video.
