    I really enjoyed that. Thanks. We did our own variation on the NC500 in 2021, going up via Edinburgh, Auchterarder and the Cairngorms to visit friends and family. Glad to see that you took the time to see Castle Sinclair, my old ancestral pile is looking the worse for wear these days. I'll need to get a man in to have a look at it.
    When we were planning it we thought, since we are up here we should go over to Orkney, which we were so glad we did. Such an alien landscape compared to the mainland, also so much history. Your mind gets blown away a bit when you visit places such as Skara Brae and the Ring of Brogdar.
    Also good to see you took in Sandwood Bay. I remember looking for really remote beaches years and years ago on Google Earth and finding this. As you say, well worth the hike out there. That whole little bit from Rhiconich to Sheigra is stunning. Sitting at the Old School House, having chips and a beer, as the sun twinkles on Inchard is ingrained in my memories.
    We also took the ferry over to Handa Island Nature Reserve, so many birds!
    Other little detours were to Altandu, with views over the Summer Isles and late night whisky drinking with the local lads in the Fuaran Bar, then over to Skye and down to Glencoe and Loch Fyne for a lunch consisting of all of the oysters on the menu.
    A wee stop over in Glasgow to visit some of my old haunts then off to Ayr to visit more family before heading south again.
    What a trip it is. I would find myself being overcome with emotion on some stretches of road.

      Graeme Foxworthy: Many thanks for your response. I’m really glad you enjoyed this trip of mine. Reading your comments has sparked more enthusiasm in me to 1- so it again. But in a little more detail. And 2- to go and visit Orkney and Shetland as they are on my list of to do’s. You have also given me some ideas of places I’d not thought of. So a huge thank you in return.

    I remember before the bridge thumbnail. There was a ferry. Always a queue made worse when I turned up in a motorhome. Coach built body on a Transit chassis cab. Normally 4 cars per trip. But because of the need proper weight distribution the I had to be in the middle of the turntable. Ferryman & other people in queue not happy.

    • @thecowboycamper1195
      @thecowboycamper1195  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @davecoooer3238 : I would say. It doesn’t matter! There are no rules to how you go about enjoying your time. Whilst you are there you are bringing well needed funds to an economy. And more importantly…. Enjoying yourself. Thank you for watching.

    • @davecooper3238
      @davecooper3238 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thecowboycamper1195 But it did matter. I not one for causing problems for people. But as they say. What goes around comes around. My five year old daughter received a bite from a donkey. It went septic.
      Also these days some of the locals are not keen on the NC500. People have been causing mess. I photographed a sign & trowel in a lay-by put there by the council. It asked that people use the trowel to bury their excrement but take their toilet paper home.
      One section of society that is pleased about the route is the motor trade. People in vehicles without spare wheels are needing recovery. Just dropping a wheel off the road can end up needing recovery. High end sports cars sports car with suspension damage are also a nice little earner. On single track with with passing place sections just getting the recovery vehicle to the incident can cause further holdups.
      Don’t get the locals started on homes being purchased by outsiders at prices they can’t afford. Then going as short term let’s. Forcing locals out of the market. Which in turn raises the average age of residents. That brings it’s own problems. It’s not just people in Barcelona, Amalfi Coast etc who are fed up.

There were wild stag feeding on the heather and the view over the loch with the mountains in the distance were just stunning . I want to live there the wife said she would go mad not me keep up the filming , think I should buy a drone for on the bike when we tour ? which to buy and is it easy enough thanks again.

      It depends on if you are cycling or on a motorbike. I used the mavic 2 on this journey as it is a lot more sturdy in tougher conditions and is easier to control. When I’m doing a walk or smaller trip I use my mavic mini. ( when I can remember to pack it!) The mini2 is a better option as it’s the upgrade.

    • @thecowboycamper1195
      @thecowboycamper1195  ปีที่แล้ว

      Emma Liz: thank you for watching. The reason for this is down to when I actually traveled. Which was this time last year. Just before the tourist season. ( which is when I tend to do my van journeys) and more importantly just before midge season- which I can do without in all honesty. By travelling out of season I am able to enjoy the environment a little better. Hope that answers your query.
