Bernie is pretty active for about 2 hours in the day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the early evening. He sleeps for about 8 hours during the day and again at night-kind of like a baby. He needs a lot of rest at his age (over 30). Thanks for watching.

I've watched a lot of your Bernie videos because he seems like a happy little bird. Thanks a bunch. Just out of curiosity, can he not fly anymore or does he just choose not to?

He is a pretty happy bird. He can fly and has never had his wings clipped. Nowadays, he sometimes misses a landing and flutters down. We’re not sure if it’s his eyesight, his slow response due to age, or if it hurts his arthritic feet to stick a landing. However, even as a 1-year-old, he used to walk about 60 feet down a long hall and up 2 half flights of stairs to get from the kitchen to the bedroom instead of flying. I guess he prefers the slow, scenic route. Thanks for watching!
