We should take no critics serious. Music is subjective and old heads only know how to judge 1 style.
People want to have fun so the listen to that kind of music

The sad part is that the streamers are not true fans of music, in particular hip-hop. For example, if I listen to Top 40 pop music all the time and some classical musician asks me to give my honest opinion on their music, I’m not going to be able to because all classical music sounds the same to me and it's not in my expertise. I think this is what is going on with the streamers (when Kai listens to Earl Sweatshirt vs listening to Drake or Lil Uzi). I think the other issue is many younger people listen to a wide variety of music giving music reviews and telling someone their song is bad or okay is not what the artists or the audience want to see. Nobody wants real criticism anymore and that's why it seems like Joe Budden or Funk Master Flex are “just hating.” Artists today want their egos stroked for mid music. Streamers are becoming the new yes-men. Sorry, this is so long. It’s just a thought.

@@goosebased I think they are good critics because Joe Budden (a rapper himself and a very good lyricist ) and Funk Master Flex know the history of hip-hop and they’ve studied hip-hop. There’s a passion you need for music, in this case hip-hop, to be able to critique it. Streamers do not have this tool in their belt and can't give an honest answer. Joe and Funk are good to have around to talk about the state of hip-hop. You have to study the genre and be able to give an opinion about a song or album no matter who likes your opinion. Anthony Fantano has always been good at giving fair and honest critiques and if you want a calmer setting he’s the guy. Imstilldontai is also a good critic for new-school hip-hop, he streams more now but he still reviews music. There's also Shawn Cee. He reviews albums and songs in hip-hop and I like his commentary. Knox Hill and Scru Face Jean are good at doing lyrical breakdowns (both are also rappers and are students of hip-hop). There are a lot of good channels out here you just have to find them.

@@Feelingfruity most of what i disagree with them being good critics is that they favor old school stuff and completely hate one the new style rappers or if someone tries to diverge from the normal hip hop style
