Tim also fails to mention that he would not have his camper or truck to haul it, had it not been for his EIDL for a business that we are pretty sure he did NOT have a business. If he had to pay out of his pocket for a monthly camper payment, truck payment, etc, etc, there is no way in heck he would afford to survive. Tim is a grifter, he is a liar, he uses God as a way to recieve "coffee money" from vunerable people & he doesn't care who gets hurt, as long as he gets what he wants. He is a Narcissist. I can not stand liars and deceptive people.
Spot on in your description of that e-beggar. He's physically capable 65 year old man that could support himself...instead cons retired seniors out of their last dollar. A hypocrite using the bible to pull at the heartstrings of our most vulnerable elderly citizens. I believe in Karma...and he will get his.
Good video. I would argue that taking SS @ 62 turned out disastrous for Sarasota Tim. He has little freedom in his life, his choices are dictated by what little he can afford. He can’t afford a real home and is only a major accident, illness or breakdown away from ruin. He has no safety net because he didn’t plan for retirement. His “side hustle” locked him into a full time job where he is ridiculed and mocked daily. He destroyed his own reputation and privacy in the process. He is a cautionary tale for anyone looking to retire.
You are so right. Can you imagine having to put out 5-6 video's a day even if it's low quality. Everybody he walks buy thinks he is a big dumb ass for filming everything. He has no friends because he insists on filming their every move.
I survive on $1700/mo but I absolutely, positively do NOT recommend that anyone do it if they have any other choice. There are *some* who make fun of me counting my pennies, but you gotta do what you gotta do to make it work.
I'd love to get $1700 a month. I only get $1063, but I work part time at the easiest job in the world, so I'm a little over $1800. I live and take care of my aunt, so I'm in a 2-income household.
you just backed up what ive been saying all along, Tim, makes it sound like if you take SS @ 62 you will be on easy street, do you need a 401K? not according to Tim,, Insurance is a waste of money according to Tim, just take the SS and get out and live, sounds great!!,, remember this, never take advise from Broke people, set a Budget, talk to a expert before quiting your job, I retired at 63, I didnt have much of a choice,, I was helping in taking care of my Father, and my dear wife ,,,at 63 you get about 200 extra bucks,, I was lucky, 401K nas a pension,, I mean, you retire to get away from work,, not to go out and find another job,,
Sue and I started by reading The Total Money Makeover. This got us started in the path to getting our finances under control. Dave encourages people to learn as much as they can, so we took that advice and over 100 books later we have gone from being in the financial toilet to really good shape. Having said this, Sue wanted conformation that we were headed in the right direction so we hired a fiduciary to review our plan and after many weeks of review she basically informed us that she doesn't have to worry about us. My point is, this is an important thing but the basics of managing our finances is really just common sense. Yes learning how to invest in a way that suits us is an ongoing project, that is true. Where Sarasota Tim really goes off the rails is not that he didn't take this seriously but when he started making money on YT instead of banking some of that money and making good decisions, he continues to act the child and spend it all recklessly.
I found ST around a year ago. From the first video I could see the reckless advice he was giving. I’m a nurse who works with a lot of the public, and I know that some of us are more vulnerable with decision making than others. My biggest fear is that a vulnerable person will be influenced by ST to make very bad and irreversible decisions about their future.
I feel the same. I couldn't care less about his personal lifestyle of lying and cheating. It was the incorrect and misinformation concerning taking SS at 62...which is a bad decision for many. Giving back 30% of what someone is entitled when times are hard for the elderly is a horrible recommendation. Could cost someone $100k in their 30 years of retirement.
Tim has lost credibility due to inconsistency on his channel and essentially mocking his subscriber base with his flippancy. It’s a clown act and his personal life is a joke. Not what I’m looking for in a retirement channel.
Tim just bought a car on debt. At 47, you have much less runway, too. Our issue with Tim, first, he lives larger than his intake. Second, he reverses his stories. So we really don't know what the truth is.
he was broke and promoting minimalism till he got in tammys pocket book...then he contradicted himself by the day...i just watched for a while to see if he got to spend all her money or she wised up
He bragged he was now at a different pay grade and didn’t need the RV life because of Tammy his collaborator this past Summer. Now his tune has changed once again.
Tim's simplistic and reckless SS advise would normally be dismissed as harmless, but Tim has the gift of a smooth talking salesman that draws people into his channel and I fear that some, take Him as a serious financial adisor.
That grifter, failed used car salesman, deadbeat dad, and self proclaimed “king” of social security at 62 videos should be looked upon as a bad example and a terrible warning that he is.
Sarasota Tims channel should be always viewed with scepticism. He lacks critical thinking skills, his one size fits all approach is poor as we all have our own personal circumstances. I would not do anything he recommends when I witness his life that he liberally shows on his channel.
$1,700 a month is doable if you own your home, have low taxes, no debt and a healthy emergency fund. I get $2,500 between ss and a part-time job and I save at least $800 per month. It is getting a little more difficult with this inflation but I still live a full life and I don't have to stress about unexpected expenses. God is good. But I unsubscribed to Sarasota Tim a while back because his channel is boring.
I unsubscribed too because he's constantly repeating the same content. How many Wal-Mart videos do we need to see, how many times do we need to see him go get coffee, why do we need to watch him play golf, all the beach videos seem to run together, etc.?
I think his 1730 SS came from a divorced wife, he never worked to get that amount, that's why he uses people, even relationships, unfortunately , always a user since he married 26 yo, when he supposedly 16. SAD, VERY SAD
Just got a recommendation for your channel. I will definitely check out your other videos. I retired 18 months ago because of vision issues. In my last job I came in contact with many, MANY seniors. It was gut wrenching to see widows (and widowers) trying to make ends meet, so many on just social security. It dd give me a fire inside to not wind up like them. Fortunate for me as I retired 1 to 2 years earlier than expected.
Great advise. I’m 61 and still have a mortgage & debt. There is no way I can retire at 62 on $1,700 a month. You mention you are not touching your 401k till you are 73. Is this because you won’t get taxed on the money you take out at this age? Please keep giving more retirement advise.
Sarasota Tim was fun at first but eventually wore off quickly. All the comments in this video is exactly what ST is. When he went to travel, there was no content other than Walmarts, coffee truck stops, parking lot space where ever its free, etc No Whites Sands NM, no Grand Canyon content, you get the picture. Boring as it went along. ST always looking for freebies. ST likes nice things, how he is able to afford it is another thing. Don't know. Its obvious he's using his YT channel as his side hustle. Stopped watching a long time ago.
When ST did a video (I think last week?) about him having NO debt, I asked in a comment on it if he had loans for his vehicles and camper. Tim replied that he had plenty of money. So I suppose that means he has these loans. That's certainly debt.
Nice video. No one with any common sense would listen to Sarasota Dim about anything. He hit the TH-cam jackpot when he got 2 million views on his "Take Social Security at 62" video. Since then, he's tried almost every way possible to regain that windfall. He is just a sad and broke guy. Watch Darling's videos for context on the misadventures of Dim.
Make sure you know your break even point as far as if you get your SS at 62 as opposed to getting it at 70. If you take SS at 62 then you will have 96 payments hitting your bank account before you reach age 70. My break even point is about 80 years old if I take SS at 62. Of course you can take it in between too, just break out a calculator to figure it out. Thx Jim I just subscribed
I strongly agree with you. I am planning on doing the same as you are doing in retirement. I still have another year and a half left to work, but it will be worth it. When you retire you will also probably be paying for some type of supplement and drug plan. I also will not be taking any of money from my retirement accounts until required to when I reach 73. By working a little longer my wife will have a bigger social security check if I end up passing away before she does. I believe in looking out for my significant other even when I am gone if I can!
Even his runway theory is false, I've known many who flew high performance acrobatic planes at a young age and they crashed and terminated (life analogy) - just saying. It's just another deceptive tactic of fear mongering to lure viewers imo.
I'm a volly firefighter in a semi-rural area. We are tasked from time to time to assist the coroner with the removal of a deceased individual when the location is more than they can handle. Also we assist EMS because we are able to get on scene faster than they can and many of us are EMTs. Either way it is usually a sad day when we get those calls but sadder all the more when the subject of the call is living their last days in a camper. If life circumstances dictate such a living arrangement ok, but to run as fast as you can eyes wide open into a situation such as this is tragic. As Jonathan Clements, a well know financial writer has said, "why do some people live as if they expect to die the minute they turn 62?" The real problem isn't dying at 62 or 65, no, the real problem is living well past that age and being broke because you didn't properly prepare. Retire when you can afford to retire, not when you hit a certain age. Warren Buffett is 94 years old and not retired. Does anyone think Sarasota Tim has words of retirement wisdom for Warren Buffett?
Absolutely agree with retiring at 62...or even earlier if you can afford it financially. But...I do not agree with taking social security at 62 unless that 30% reduced monthly check is required for you to eat and shelter yourself. Otherwise...IMO waiting until at least full retirement age (around 67) is financially beneficial. It can potentially be a $100k decision.
I need to get married. 54, home paid off entirely but it's really REALLY needs a kitchen. Less than $50k in my 401K. Been making a 60-80K salary for 30 years, I should be retired but I made some horrible decisions with women. Double SS check you might could live on, a single guy, I'm not so sure. I'm just trying to get my 401K to $800 in the next 8-10 years if it's even possible.
After watching 2 or 3 of his videos it was pretty clear he does not really know what he is talking about. He reminds me a lot of my Dad who didn’t know anything about retirement and never thought things through. He was always living “on the edge” through retirement, just scraping by. He managed to die with nothing in his bank accounts and a reverse mortgage on the house my Mom worked her whole life to pay for. Not a plan I am looking to repeat. I am on track to retire early (57 maybe) with enough to basically replace my salary and projected to die leaving my kids with 7 figures in the bank.
I have heard that working after age 62 is very enjoyable if you dont have to work. Each of us I think can do the simple math to see if taking SS at 62 is ok. Example 1 You need 3000 per month to live a high quality life. Social Security if taken at 62=1500 Investment income=2000 per month Your fine taking SS at 62 and enjoying your freedom. Example 2 You need 3000 per month to live a high quality life Social security if taken at 62=1500 Investment income=100 per month You must work say 20 hours per week =1400 per month You are not fine taking SS at 62 Because that 20 hours of work per week you will feel forced to do the rest of your life.Working 20 hours per week might be fine age 62 til 70 but what about age 75,80 or 85? Not fun.
My general manager at work is 70 , compared to most people in Ohio hes wealthy..what's the reason people like him keep at it? Do they just love the grind that much and those big checks? I'm sure he probably gets 5 or 6 wks vacation though
It's not as much about money as it is about TIME. I am about to work one, maybe two days a week and collect a reduced amount. But spent most of my TIME doing what I want to do while I still can. I don't know how I will feel about doing things in 5 years. I do know that I had more stamina 5 years ago....
@wigawaga1 well you can say to yourself that you have more say/control over your time. It's nice to still make money and have social interaction, you may find that you only want to work and additional year or two because you just want all of your time and your body as a way of telling you it's time to quit.
I retired at 63. I have a pension and a 401k. I’m deferring SS until my FRA at 66and 8 months. I will get my first SS check next April. I went with an AARP United Health Care supplemental plan. I have had shoulder surgery with PT and I haven’t paid anything out of pocket. My meds cost .50 cents a month. I planned my retirement for a long time. I do ok even with Bidenomics.
I think ST retired because he had enough of working. It was the right decision from that point of view. From there he went on to say that he did it on purpose for logical reasons. In reality he is fed up and burnt out and his eyesight is going. If your eyesight is going, it’s pretty impossible to get any kind of job. I think he had less choice than it seems.
Social Security was never meant to be your sole supply of retirement income. I wish I had that money to invest with my IRA. I have three legs on my retirement stool. Pension, IRA and SS and no debt. ✌️
Hi Jim your page popped up my timeline. Looks beautiful where you are. Far from hurricane in Florida? Looks like a horrible situation on west coast there. Tim forgets to say he is getting 1700 now that isnt what he got at 62.... And all the negativity about age is a big downer not sure why people enjoy hearing him talk about death at 73 and declines ..biden/trump/pelosi/sanders etc all past 73 as well as many actors still working in tv and movies (Stallone, Arnold, jane fonda etc) guess i try to find encouraging words not the chicken little mantra lol.
I agree with what is being said about Sarasota Tim. It annoyed me initially that he had that moniker but was in Boynton Beach and not Sarasota. I do my research with skepticism and always viewed Tim that way. And took none of his advice seriously. What I find amazing is how many TH-camrs do videos about him. Could they be trying to capitalize on his popularity? I get more than a few anti ST video suggestions in my feed regularly. Maybe I should do one?
I wouldn't be surprised if he has something extra that he doesn't disclose..he just bought a 60k ford super duty truck...to buy that vehicle you're doing way above average or a complete moron..I check Tim's videos out from time to time ,don't have a Problem with him..but personally I think hes probably a swindler,he leaves out the information he doesn't want you to hear for sure...
I didn’t make a good living in my life so I’m waiting till full retirement age for me 66 and 8 months. I need every dime. Forget what Tim says. I don’t care about break even’s 🙄
I couldn’t see a couple retiring on that $1500 a month social security. I receive $3,900 a month from my army retirement pay and veterans disability combo tax free. At the same time I receive another $1700 a month tax free for social security disability income (SSDI) and with Medicare and my Army Retirement Medical insurance (TRICARE) and my VA Hospital Medical care I far free medical and dental care for life. As a single man at age 62 the combined income and free medical and dental care allows me to live my final years worry free of income and medical care as I travel the country and rent my house out for my “Bucket List” travels. Sarasota Tim has about one third of my income yet he often runs into financial problems in his videos. It’s significant you pointed out that he gets to stay on a property rent free in exchange for work and that his surgery expenses will be more expensive than he lets on. I think this was a good and informative video. Folks do your own research on what’s financially best for you during your retirement years. 🇺🇸💵💰😊
Tomorrow is promised to know one! Your health can change anytime! I knew Sooo many people who died and NEVER got one check from retirement! They all had plans. I agree with most of what ST says! All The Best Everyone!
I wonder if many people really take Sarasota Tim seriously. He seems not understand the absurdity of teaching almost everyone should collect Social Security at age 62. I used to try to correct some of his presuppositions and statements of facts. He doesn't grasp a lot of the consequences of what he teaches. But my suggestions ended soon because he blocked me!
Yes, he is the greatest Con man there is! He is phony, dishonest and disgusting! That’s why old Tammy left him once again. No one can live with this jerk!
How do you know, you don’t. All speculation. He has to do 10 redundant videos a day and beg for other money. Pretty sad life. His best friend is his IPhone. Really needs to seek help.
according to social blade, at the top end he is making $30K from YT probably less. At best with his SS he is grossing $50K that is not enough to buy brand new cars all the stuff he buys including a new 2024 Honda at +$40K and travel all over and take cruses and gamble in casinos. As other have mentioned he has to pay $185/month for part B plus his supplemental policy and his EIDL loan is $300/month given all that the man is certainly not crushing it. I spend less of my time working my prison job of 40 hours per week than Sarasota Tim does videotaping his every fascinating move and uploading for all the world to see and I make a lot more than $50K.
Tim also fails to mention that he would not have his camper or truck to haul it, had it not been for his EIDL for a business that we are pretty sure he did NOT have a business.
@@thomaschew2191 Well said and "No" Sarasota Tim does not give words of retirement wisdom.
The right time to retire if you have the wealth is 55, unless you have an amazing career then you may never retire like some lawyers! Lol
Excellent video Jim!
Tim is nothing but a grifter, grifting is all he knows. Pity the retiree that seeks to emulate his lifestyle.
Great for you, good job!!
I have heard that working after age 62 is very enjoyable if you dont have to work. Each of us I think can do the simple math to see if taking SS at 62 is ok.
Example 1
You need 3000 per month to live a high quality life.
Social Security if taken at 62=1500
Investment income=2000 per month
Your fine taking SS at 62 and enjoying your freedom.
Example 2
You need 3000 per month to live a high quality life
Social security if taken at 62=1500
Investment income=100 per month
You must work say 20 hours per week =1400 per month
You are not fine taking SS at 62
Because that 20 hours of work per week you will feel forced to do the rest of your life.Working 20 hours per week might be fine age 62 til 70 but what about age 75,80 or 85?
@@retirementwithjim thanks again
I retired at 63. I have a pension and a 401k. I’m deferring SS until my FRA at 66and 8 months. I will get my first SS check next April.
I went with an AARP United Health Care supplemental plan. I have had shoulder surgery with PT and I haven’t paid anything out of pocket. My meds cost .50 cents a month.
I planned my retirement for a long time. I do ok even with Bidenomics.
Sounds great
Buyer beware…..very true.
I am grateful for the time you have allocated to share your knowledge! I find your commentary balanced and informative! Take Care
All of these are fair points. Good video. Based on your surroundings, it looks like you followed your own advice.
Where is Tami? How can he afford a new car? He said when he was in advertising he worked 2 or 3 days a week. Wish he’d write a how to book
And all the negativity about age is a big downer not sure why people enjoy hearing him talk about death at 73 and declines
..biden/trump/pelosi/sanders etc all past 73 as well as many actors still working in tv and movies (Stallone, Arnold, jane fonda etc) guess i try to find encouraging words not the chicken little mantra lol.
ST is going to need money to Uber as with his vision issues, he won't be seeing well in years to come.
@@retirementwithjim ahh got it. saw the palm trees and immediately thought of Florida 🙂
If he failed to mention these things about his life, how do you know about them?
Tim didn't plan for retirement so he wants everyone to be in the same boat.
Does Sarasota Tim have retirement savings? Unknown.
@airbourne2 in one of his videos he stated he has no money saved
I wouldn't be surprised if he has something extra that he doesn't disclose..he just bought a 60k ford super duty truck...to buy that vehicle you're doing way above average or a complete moron..I check Tim's videos out from time to time ,don't have a Problem with him..but personally I think hes probably a swindler,he leaves out the information he doesn't want you to hear for sure...
I didn’t make a good living in my life so I’m waiting till full retirement age for me 66 and 8 months. I need every dime. Forget what Tim says. I don’t care about break even’s 🙄
Are you located in AZ? If so what over 55 community are you in? I'm looking into some over55 communities in the Phoenix area. Thanks
@marke2959 i live in chandler az. I would tell you to google 55 retirement community in this area there are more then I could list.
why would anyone take advice from a.guy who dispenses it from a camper! Like.taking advice from a guy at a,Dairy Queen on weight loss!
Folks with no life are obsessed with Saratoga Tim
I wonder if many people really take Sarasota Tim seriously. He seems not understand the absurdity of teaching almost everyone should collect Social Security at age 62. I used to try to correct some of his presuppositions and statements of facts. He doesn't grasp a lot of the consequences of what he teaches. But my suggestions ended soon because he blocked me!
Yo Dude Sarasota Tim is a player and grifter he’s got more than you think
He has nothing, I know him.
@@mrechotv for having nothing he seems to be enjoying his life
Hes just letting you see what he wants you to see on utube.... I don't trust that conman any further than I could throw him..
No offense, Jim, but you’re a couple years behind on Sarasota Tim
TIMAAAAAAAA is the goat, your should golf with him
Yes, he is the greatest Con man there is! He is phony, dishonest and disgusting! That’s why old Tammy left him once again. No one can live with this jerk!
Timmay the grifter, conman and deceiver!
“Your” should send Timaaaaa some more coffee money
@@rovvt1284 he is the greatest conman!!!
He is making great money on TH-cam…
How do you know, you don’t. All speculation. He has to do 10 redundant videos a day and beg for other money. Pretty sad life. His best friend is his IPhone. Really needs to seek help.
He makes great money with his dry begging and grifting.
according to social blade, at the top end he is making $30K from YT probably less.
@@TarHeels4Ever if you have 25K subscribers you can make $1500 per month..,
@@thomaschew2191 Social Blade is just a wild guess. Proven that their numbers are not even close to reality
