Elizabeth Masterson.....It sounds like you are very good at growing "Prince of Orange" philodendron. I've had one for a month and so far it has thrived in my house. I do have a question as the unfurling of new leaves though. Is it a normal process of them to take a long time to unfurl or what? Can I do something on my end to maybe help my plant to unfurl quicker?? Thanks!
@@jackiewhitney5031 The leaves do take their time opening up but as far as I know there isn't a way to accelerate the process. They do like humidity and bright, indirect light. The bathroom with natural light is an ideal location. That may encourage faster growth. This time of year the growth will slow down. You'll see faster growth in the Spring. Enjoy your plant baby!
This is great to read!! I’ve just moved into my forever home so I’m filling it with plants that have a longer general life span!! Just purchased a “POO”😂 and I’m excited to watch its life evolve!!
I love his example of the Prince, wow! Beautiful. I just got all 3 colored Philos. The Prince of Orange, Pink Princess and Royal Red. They're lovely. Maybe I can share pics. Good luck everyone!!
I just saw this plant at the nursery and didn’t get it, now I’m regretting it what a BEAUTY!! Happy I found your channel, I’ve been looking for more plant lovers!!
I have one that’s just been sitting on my patio for a year, the damn thing wont die!! I regret treating her so badly!! I’m gonna bring her in and baby her now 😢
My prince of orange doesn't get a bushy compact shape, it basically grew a lot upwards with a tall central stem and very big leaves, which is creating balance problems. Anyone in the comments has any advice on this? The stem seems to grow about an inch every time a new leaf comes and will eventually not be enough to support the weight of the leaves.
Do you know why my POO is all green now? When I first bought it, it was the same color of yours. A few days ago, I noticed that it was all green. It’s healthy, but it’s green, only the petioles still have color. Please help!🙏
Hi, Mary. It sounds like it could be a few problems. Number one I would say your humidity might be a little too low. Make sure you do not have it near an air vent or a heat vent. I would also ensure that you have it in a very bright indirect light environment. Sometimes smaller new leaves would indicate having too little light. Also make sure that you are not fertilizing too often. I would look at the roots and make sure they look white and healthy.
I got a baby one at a nursery on vacation. I’ve kept it next to the humidifier and close to my back door window. I water whenever necessary and it just doesn’t seem to like me:(
mines actually have like specs of orange on the edges and middle of the leaves what does that mean? Its not drying like it's literally the color! ive been looking around and haven't found anyone with a similar prince of orange like mine
I had 2 of them and brown little holes start to appear on the larger leaves . I had to prune therm all. Anyone knows why this happened? They recieved good indirect light and no overwater
Like many of your houseplants, you want to repot when you see any kind of root growth coming from the bottom of the pot. You can also pull the plant out of its pot and see. If the roots are beginning to circle around the inside of the pot and intertwine with not much soil left, it's time to repot! You can chose to wait and let it acclimate to your home before doing so, which may be wise. Maybe a month or so. Just be cautious of repotting during the winter months.
Granted your plant is long enough, you can take some cuttings and water propagate them and then put them into soil. It will promote growth at different chutes, but the new growth will be quite smaller.
Yes. Similar to really any self heading plant, meaning ones that grow upright similarly to a tree. Cut the main stem below some leaves. Make sure you can get a cutting that will have at least 2-4” or stem before any leaves. This way it will be easier to submerge in water, and it will have more root and stem to anchor it into the soil once you transfer it. I have a propagation guide playlist if you have more specific Q’s about the process. I haven’t filmed a guide for any self heading plants, but the same principles apply.
Aerial roots come out as the plant matures. They also have off shoots as the plant matures. I’ve gotten three generations from one plant!

Having two in one pot looks 10x better! Mine has so few leaves & its' newest one came out awful--twisted, crispy, and tiny. Any suggestions?

what kind of tree is that behind you left shoulder
Just got one!! Thank your for your videos!
Soo im confused. With 0othos, each vine is one plant right? So with philodendron or this one, is each leaf its own plant?
How big do they get??
The new leaves of our Prince of Orange curl and don't open up fully. What is wrong?
Sounds like not enough humidity
Hey,.. I just bought this plant yesterday... Thanks for your vedio
Most welcome 😊
Kade you are very decent.
Mines drooping, how do I save him? ;(
I had 2 of them and brown little holes start to appear on the larger leaves . I had to prune therm all. Anyone knows why this happened? They recieved good indirect light and no overwater
Could be pests or fungal infection. Try washing the leaves or use an insecticide soap!
Awesome video...great production.
Are you in a funer?
How can I order one?
Mine always get yellow with dry brown crisp. And some leaves fall off. I’m now on my second one. I’m not sure what it’s telling me.
could be humidity, they need higher humidity.
Beautiful plant i❤ i hevet just the same.
How soon do you repot after buying it from the nursery?
I brought one in a 4 inc pots .

What fertlizer can i use..
You are informative and good thank you
Hi. My philo is leaning to one side, what should I do to make it upright? Will rotating the pot fix it?
Yep rotate it a quarter turn every time you water it
Nice vid but bit heavy on the piano
How to propagate this plant?
Granted your plant is long enough, you can take some cuttings and water propagate them and then put them into soil. It will promote growth at different chutes, but the new growth will be quite smaller.
Thankyou.You mean the stem?
