For 48 years my Dad and I have spoken Cricket EVERY hour. The same man’s name pops up. “Son, you just don’t know how good he was…” My dad’s favourite player so of course, I’ll take his wisdom. From St Helens, Lancashire.
Scored 180 in test for world 11 took 8 wickets with left arm swing ,,leg spin and off break what other cricketer in history could do that, most say greatest all rounder ,,greatest cricketer ever full stop!
Excellent Interview with Sir Garfield Sobers, one of the Greatest, if Not the Greatest All Round Cricketer. I remember when I was in England and he was the Captain for the first time in 1966 and Sir Frank Worrell was the Manager when the West Indies won the match @ Lord's. That was the last time that I saw him "in person" It is truly a blessing that he is still Alive and you were able to conduct this interview. Kudos to you.👏👏👍👍
We're truly blessed to still have Sir Garfield around still to share his experiences of his career. It will be a sad day when the time comes when he has to go and I hope the cricketing world will honour him for the achievements and contributions he has made to cricket.
Sir Garfield's 100 percent correct game is much easier today. Not only cricket . All sports were much more interesting and better to watch back then. Real skill.
Thank You, for uploading this, one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of Cricket. If Sir Don is praising someone trust me, you got to be something unique. I as a 2000 born regard him a lot. he's motivation as well.
Never saw him play but read a lot about him as a young teenager. By the time I turned 18 I had read enough to know that he was the greatest all rounder to have ever played the game. I even branded my bat Sir Gary Sobers when I was 15 to honour the great man. I grew up in Zimbabwe.
Looking at this great interview brought back memories of Sir Garfield playing at the Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Seeing him dispatch Truman for fours and sixes was just sublime for me, a fifth form student. He was impeccable as a batsman, bowler and most of all as a human being. He was so humble.
The date when two cricket greats, Gary Sobers and Ian Smith met and sat together in Rhodesia, a country of all races which welcomed him, is a day never to be forgotten.
I was in fact fortunate to meet Gary Sobers the greatest ever allrounder. I don't remember exactly the year. I think it was in 2006....07 in Mumbai. Super human being. Felt we should be like him. Can't be possible for everyone.
The #quintessential West Indian cricketer who is the living #embodiment of West Indian cricket history, Meeting this legend personally some years ago at the QP Oval remains simply a #surreal experience..
The greatest all rounder of all time could bowl 3 different ways fast , medium and slow left arm and as a fielder lighting quick and fantastic batsman and no helmets in his day my hero.
His one of the greatest batting was against Australia and Sobers was skipper for Rest of World. Sobers scored 254 in second innings, a match winning performance. Sir Don Bradman said "The best batting ever seen on Australian soil"
Sir Garfield Sobers is my idol and an iconic figure very attacking player to be so at a time when they had played without any gear as compared to the present time a great guy fun loving and a gentleman cricketer.
My favourite cricket player...is rahul dravid... Garry sobers is a great cricketer... A living legend... I salute him... God bless him with happiness and prosperity
B S Chandra from India was a great spin bowler during those days. BS Bedi, E R Prasanna, and B S Chandrasekhar great spinners. Once pioneers India lost spin. After many years, only Shane Warne came out as top class spinner

It's too difficult to construct an all time great team. Far too many 'great' players have laced them up. I think it would have to be a pre 1980 team and post 1980. Before Sobers was also George Bradley who was an outstanding talent.

The two greatest cricketers to walk the field Sir Don Bradman and Sir Garfield Sobers.

As a Barbadian.,thank you so much for posting this interview. He is a great source of pride for Barbados and the Caribbean.

The date when two cricket greats, Gary Sobers and Ian Smith met and sat together in Rhodesia, a country of all races which welcomed him, is a day never to be forgotten.
was privileged to see Wes and Sir Garfield and Charlie G play at the Gabba, with my dad
I was in fact fortunate to meet Gary Sobers the greatest ever allrounder. I don't remember exactly the year. I think it was in 2006....07 in Mumbai. Super human being. Felt we should be like him. Can't be possible for everyone.
That Donald Bradman story is epic 😂
The #quintessential West Indian cricketer who is the living #embodiment of West Indian cricket history,
Meeting this legend personally some years ago at the QP Oval remains simply a #surreal experience..
What a legend!
The greatest all rounder of all time could bowl 3 different ways fast , medium and slow left arm and as a fielder lighting quick and fantastic batsman and no helmets in his day my hero.
Great at wicketkeeping too....but that would be wasting talent 😂
Opinions may differ but being a good man being is most important
Such a humble gentleman
Observe and learn 🏏 🎒 📚
Long live Sir Gary
Just terrific
Fascinating interview. Dont miss the bit abt Chandra
Proper old school interview.
A great cricketer.
In my opinion the greatest cricketer ever.

BS Bedi, E R Prasanna, and B S Chandrasekhar great spinners. Once pioneers India lost spin. After many years, only Shane Warne came out as top class spinner
We love sir sobers
#Respect🎉🎉
The BOSS
Watch the elbow bend at point of delivery of delivery …. Frank Tyson , Larwood both did that from time to time … you can see yourself
The great Viv Richards so envious of Lara kept him carrying towels for two years how petty.
what happened ?
Never heard that said about Brian Statham before. Statham had hyperextension in his arm. Would argue that Charlie Griffith was the man who threw it!
World's greatest all rounder ever. Some call him the greatest batsman too. Boycott and Ian Chappel both consider him the greatest batsman.
Greatest Test XI
Sunil Gavaskar
Jack Hobbs
Don Bradman
Sachin Tendulkar
Kumara Sangakkara(wk)
Garfield Sobers(c)
Ian Botham
Shane Warne

Sir Sobers sorry for not mentioning
Yes Lara never played alongside Viv glad to hear Sobers refer to the nonsense he was told of having to wait his turn
🙏

discovered your channel only today and thank you for uploading! incredible videos and immediate +1 sub from me!!!!
Awesome, thank you! Please spread the word - we aren't dependent on subscribers and viewers
Arguably the greatest player ever even better than Kallis .
As popular as KFC! $500 per public appearances and loves golf as well.
Good effort, but Lara had to be in there.
Of course.
Tendulkar, what his he doing there....Laras 9 double centuries at tests level can not be beat ...
Bradman is the greatest. But Sobers is next. Everyone who says otherwise is delusional.
