Hello Miss K. Do "certfied trainers" operating as a training center or affiliated with a training center NEED to register with the local gov or state as a business BEFORE striking out on their own and collecting money (tax obligations and such) for conducting classes?
Hi i have Question for you dear Like if i become CPR and AED Instructor from Red Cross Canada or Rescue 7 … After that i started my business.. I Teach others about CPR and AED But how can i provide them Certificate? Or Completion Number or CPR
I contacted my local community college and they were part of the AHA network. I completed the requirements on the AHA website, now I go in and monitor the class, and after that I will teach one and get observed. Once that is completed you get your instructor provider card and are free to teach.
Thank you so much. I'm so nervous because I have my first class teaching CPR coming up. Also you mentioned you charge 50 or 60 dollars per person. Did you have to pay any additional fee out side of the ecards. This AHA get a percentage of your pay at all?
Great question! No, they don't get a percentage. You only pay for the cards. So whatever you charge your clients, just know that $10-$20 of that will go into the purchase of the card. This is if you're independent. If you do classes for a company, they will simply pay you an hourly or contracted rate.
Can I email you with more questions? Also working in cardiology as a tech but me and hubby ready to instruct. He’s already a instructor in pharmacy but the heart is my passion and something I know we can help our community.
Hi there! Quick question, When you do become an instructor and are 1099, what website do you use to certify people? Just say you got your instructor certification through AHS or Red Cross but don't work for that company anymore, how do you give people their certification? Thanks so much!
Hi sorry for the late response as I’m just seeing your question. As far as certifying people when you are no longer with the company… you will need to always be aligned with a training center when it comes to AHA. I’m not sure how the Red Cross works but with AHA you cannot do certifications if you are not aligned with a center. I’m guessing this is what you mean by company…
Hey, sorry I’m just seeing your question… But it depends on the training center so it’s hard to say. I would call around to some in your area. My former training center charged us $25 per CPR card but the one before that only charged $10. So it’s hard to say until you call.
Absolutely! I made great money when I was regularly doing classes. The biggest challenge is carrying your equipment from place to place as those mannequins are heavy. Ideally, you’d have a space to do your classes and have people come to you. If not, just know that you will be lugging your equipment from place to place. I used to just keep it in my trunk so I wouldn’t have to take it in and out the house. Outside of that, I loved it and because I worked in an office with so many employees, and I worked in a building with many other offices, I always had clients. If that’s not the case for you, you would just need to make sure you are really marketing your business by giving out business cards and creating flyers.

Thanks for the info. As far as insurance, what are the limit amounts you would want for general and professional liability?
I can't even remember how much I chose... I know it wasn't a lot, though. Maybe 25-50K I can't even begin to guess lol

When you're monitoring high performance teams, do you recommend a particular stop watch and/ or a good app? Thanks in advance.
Hey I don’t know if you’re an Apple user, but I usually use my Apple Watch as a stopwatch. I’m sure there are some apps but I’m not familiar with any.

Looking to get CPR instructor certified as a side hustle, do you think it’s worth it?
