      I do like them! They come in several different sizes and I have them scattered all over the property! They are Vego. Here is a link: a.co/d/gKuHWTf

    This is my first time raising chickens (6 in my flock). In the fall I started waterglassing the extra abundance until I reached 12 dozen stored in gallon jars in my basement. I’d love to hear more about your spacing and pruning for your fruit trees. I’m eager to actually grow a decent crop of fruit but our dwarf trees aren’t cutting it. I’m heavily debating on getting some semi-dwarfs but I can’t find info on how to keep them smaller to manage the size better. I’d love to hear how to prune them to keep them smaller while not compromising on production 🤩

    • @Alisorganics

      Thank you for that! That will help me plan my orchard tour! I think I’ll include what you are looking for 🥰. Keeping semi dwarf tree are what’s in my garden area (except fig) and they can be kept to whatever size you need them with a little work.

    We had milking goats many years ago and I found that if you keep the Billy with them it taints the milk. So keep your milking goats well away from a Billy and the milk tastes so much better

    Have you ever tried dairy sheep? I have a similar space as you for milking animals. I was learning towards goats but I LOVE sheep so much more. Plus wool. Just curious your thoughts on sheep in a dry lot. We don't have pasture.

    • @Alisorganics
      @Alisorganics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have thought about sheep but never done much with them. We raised a bummer lamb and he was never friendly like our goats. Maybe it was just him. I am loving spinning and a little obsessed with wool right now , but I have the goats and no extra room. I don’t have any background on raising them and wouldn’t be much help to you. Maybe someday. I do have angora goats and they fit nicely. they are dirty little piglets! But sooo cute. Do you spin?

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel
      @alternativehomesteadingchannel 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Alisorganics I'm in Western NC outside of Asheville so this is a huge angora, alpaca, and wool area for fiber. I haven't begun spinning...yet...but I want to! I was at a friends this week getting all the details to start my dairy goats and fell in love with her dairy sheep. The sheep were so sweet and gentle and not as naughty....plus wool...so now I'm diving into the research. My space seems more suited for goats but I'm learning there could be many benefits to a small sheep flock of 3 in a smaller space. I love your channel! It's challenging me to uplevel my space. I have to get creative with our homestead space but the Lord provides!

    Do you have a hard time finding homes for your kids that’s the only reason and the only reason we don’t do dairy goats becuz we only have 3.25 acres here in Illinois and already have 5 mini horses so we can’t take on much more animal wise, but. Nigerian goats yes, but the kids no🙁

    • @Alisorganics
      @Alisorganics  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve haven’t had any problems selling my kids. The bucklings are generally slower to go, but the last few years they have been the first to go.

    • @jeffkey3158
      @jeffkey3158 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s very interesting to hear as I know a lady who breeds, shows and sells goats here near Chicago and she said the same thing that last yr the bucklings sold first which she also said was unusual…wonder what that’s all about 🤔thanks for replying back.

    Do you/have you fermented your chicken feed? Does it help or add benefit for y'all?

    • @Alisorganics
      @Alisorganics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      YES! I do it a lot in the summer months. I feel the extra moisture in their feed keeps them better hydrated in the hot summer months and the egg production does not drop. Plus, it good for them.
