you dont have to use a hook you just have to keep the handle push outside when you take out the screw :))

I need help I have BMW x3 3.0i 2004.
I want to how to remove the door lock cylinder. So that I can fix the problem in the cylinder.

Wait it’s that easy !!!!? I thought I had to remove the whole door. I kept one light not working

One key element missing is to make sure the interior "assembly" hasn't shifted. I couldn't get the LED light back into the correct place because the whole assembly got pushed (about 5mm) in while I was trying to get the spring hooked onto the handle. Key observation is the screw hole "square" is not proud of the door trim... it was recessed, and the entire assembly wiggled and moved (so not your typical German engineering!). Pushing on the screw from the back and wiggling it, got it "popped" back into place and the led fit back in properly.
Despite the apologetic camera-work, this video was crucial for me to get it re-assembled, that pesky spring is not intuitive!
