  • Just two chords (D and A) will take you down the road to Joe Clark’s house. Lots of whacky verses keep you wondering what humorous oddity will be sung about next! A short and fairly repetitive melody makes this a great standard in the old-time tradition,

Old Joe Clark is a "golden oldie" from the folk music world. Look up lots of verses online - they are a hoot and kids love them!

I've taken ukulele lessons at the local Senior Center. I have a soprano Makala and a concert Amahi. I went to buy a new soprano for myself, the Makala is my granddaughters and she was sharing it with me for my lessons, and I thought the Amahi was prettier than the sopranos they had. So I picked up and strummed it. The sound was so rich, I said this is the one I want. Didn't play it again or anything. It's a beautiful sounding instrument. To my ears anyway...lol.
I learned a really bad way to try and play a G chord. My hand was twisted the wrong way. So I'd fake it. But one day I looked at how some of the other class members were playing it and I was so off. I have double jointed fingers that tend to lock up when I'm twisting them around. I'd really, REALLY, love to see some videos of the basic chord fingerings you use. You make the D look easy but it's very hard for me. I play out of The Daily Ukulele a lot. It's all chords, I've never learned to play the notes.
    Thank you!!

Gina, I find your comment highly interesting. I immediately thought of using kinesiology tape to stabilize the affected joints as I have doing this lately myself . I did a Google search and turned up the idea of using a mix of oval-8 finger braces and kt tape to help stabilize overly flexible joints. I hope this is helpful.
