    My friend has a 2009 in red. Steering wheel looks a little more revised than this one but radio seems same. She likes it and it really picks up speed. She’s got a 170,000 on it and hasn’t had any issues as far as I know. Her check engine light is on but I think it’s a tire sensor

      If it drives without a problem it’s likely an oxygen sensor. That happened to my car.

    Here sounds like Pontiac wasn’t planning to go away any time soon. With a future planned.

    it really, really, REALLY sucks that GM favored Chevy and Buick over Pontiac. This, the g8, the Grand am, and the Firebird could really have made a comeback after the recession of 2008, maybe with a more tasteful rear end and better engine.

    Technically the G6 was the Gran Am, just all new with a new name.

      @samsquantch14 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it was the replacement for the grand am ...it had zero similar parts

      Oh I thought they had just changed the name like they did with the Pursuit - G5 and the Wave - G3. My bad

    ~now I'm feeling so fly, like a G6~
    3:15: It's leaning like an SUV!
    4:50: "With high gas prices..." LOL. In November 2004 (assuming the date given at the beginning of this vid is when the episode containing this road test aired), gas prices were barely above $1.50 in my area. Hurricane Katrina, which drove them above $2 for the first time, hadn't even happened yet! Now as I write this, we're finally coming down from over $4 a gallon! 😁
    5:25: ...and you get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car...!

    I had two G6's. A silver 06 GTP and blue 08 GT. Not bad cars but damn even in up level trims, these things were built cheap and the materials sucked, the dash was brick hard, the numbers on the dials for the radio and climate control wore off and worst of all (lol this is funny) One day i was home in Detroit visiting and a strong wind was enough to blow my door open and apparently off-track, so when it rained, i would have wet, eventually stinky carpet the rest of the time i had the car.

      How was the reliability of the g6?

  • @Ferraridude13
    @Ferraridude13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Classic GM platform, comparable to the Altima with similar features but a little less sophisticated. Larger standard engine but making less power than the optional V6 in the Altima.

    I owned a 2005 G6 GT for a number of years. I liked most of the exterior design and the wheels (but the rear end was awful -- like so many GM vehicles of the time). The interior was roomy thanks to the long wheelbase but there was too much bland and cheap plastic and the seats weren't comfortable for long journeys. The drivetrain was primitive and weak compared to Japanese and European competitors (200HP with a big 3.5L engine and a 4-speed automatic? Bleh!). My car needed many repairs once the 3-year warranty was up. Busted CD loading mechanism, engine oil leak, coolant leak, and fuel tank leak (and I didn't abuse the car!). I did like the remote start feature, so few cars had such a thing at that time. And the Monsoon sound system was nice. My car didn't have the panoramic roof but that looked like a great feature. After all that bailout nonsense and the miserable quality of my G6 I decided to jump ship and I've never looked back. I don't plan to ever buy a GM vehicle again.

      I owned a 2005 G6 GT for a few years, too. If I didn't have the pana-roof it would have been a super reliable car. The thing rattled, leaked, then finally stopped working one day. Only fix was to replace at $2000. Truly ruined my ownership experience cause nothing else went wrong with it. Besides the ball joints and suspension, but that was my fault for driving it on a rough, back mountain road. Definitely not a car for those roads and best left for pavement travel. My mother-in-law has a base 2008 G6 with the 3.5L and its been super awesome for her.

      Pontiac fixed the powertrain problems starting in 2006. We had a 2012 Malibu 2.4 which is extremely similar to the G6, and we loved it. I admit the seats both front and rear weren't very comfortable. Malibu and G6 have the exact same seats. Interior trim is pretty similar on both cars, the Malibu just has a more upscale look but materials quality is pretty much identical.

      CharlesP2009, hey, if you don't like Pontiacs, buy something else, stop knocking American cars and worshipping Asian/Euro cars! Give me a flipping break!

    how is this car just as fast as the Chevy Cavalier. By 0 to 60 mph iv driven both and that G6 feels way faster

    • @redspeeder9848
      @redspeeder9848 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Zuehlke Its because of the placebo effect. That Pontiac badge make whatever you drive sportier (also, a twin cam cavalier will keep up with a base g6 at least in the beginning).

      Looks nothing like a Grand Am. But very similar to the related Saturn Aura and '08 Chevy Malibu.

    I have an 06' G6 GT. And I'm modding it.
    Aftermarket head lights, new headers, new exhaust, maybe a performance camshaft, rims and tires, and decals. Also a few more maybe. It's a really nice car in my opinion.
