    AIPaper is a crowdfunding project that promises to deliver a 10.65" 300PPI Android 13 e-ink tablet that has AI integration on almost every level of the system. Let's take a look at their pre-Kickstarter campaign and what this product promises to be.
    I also cover in this video the reason behind why, unfortunately, you will most not be able to see a traditional My Deep Guide In-Depth and on-hands look at this product.
    Thank you for watching and if you liked the video, like and subscribe :)

    Thank you so much for covering this device as a warning for your viewers! I also got burned by TopJoy Butterfly who, as you mentioned, is coincidentally produced by a company named Wiwood...😂. I agree that this device does not seem worth the risk when I can get the Boox Go 10.3 from an established company. For me Reinkstone and TopJoy were more intriguing as they claimed that they would be incorporating DES Slurry which no other company had attempted use, etc. This Viwoods is literally just the Boox Go 10.3 - but with a massive risk attached to it.

    Two out of three, perhaps? I would really like the "always there" buttons on the bottom. But I share your concerns regarding the AI and crowdfunding.
    I'm really enjoying my Boox Go 10.3 -- even more so than my Supernote Nomad. From a practical point of view, I'm going to set the Nomad aside for a while, and work a bit on making my old Boox Nova Air 2 work as the little brother to the Go 10.3. (I'm hoping for a Boox Go 7.8.)
    In the past, the Boox NaviBall seemed to get in the way, but I now have it set up on both notebooks just for Back, Home, Prev Page, and Full Refresh -- which minimizes it's intrusiveness and is kinda like bezel buttons.

    I messaged Viwoods on their Facebook page and asked specifically how they chose which reviewers to send their limited number of test units to, and they said…
    “When we initially reached out to multiple creators, we had only a limited number of sample units available.
    For our early collaborations, we prioritized creators who could produce content quickly, preferably within one week of receiving the device. This was necessary to align with our Kickstarter launch schedule.
    After launching the program on Kickstarter and having a more flexible schedule, we will reach out to more creators for collaboration. Please stay tuned for updates.”

      Yes, they emailed me yesterday as well with the same message. This time they are getting more units and it seems like they will send me both the regular and mini sample devices to test and review on the channel, so we'll see.
      The explanation makes sense, but there was a lack of communication on their side that didn't make sense and that caused a lot of questions to pop up, and I don't feel that any of it was necessary. But, to their credit, they did fully acknowledge that communication shortcoming, they even apologized for it, and the communication that the offer now is on a much better level. • @5idi
    @5idi หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Many AI features work offline. For example, handwriting conversion on the Boox, and many others stuff on modern smartphones, so it's a question of how they implement it, but if it needs constant connection, I don't want it.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Handwriting conversion is not an AI type of a task, despite the labelling used by the companies. It is an OCR algorithm which can be handled by any Processing Unit. True AI tasks are an online service (for devices of this type), simply because they rely on sending data to the AI service of choice and receiving back the results. These are still purely online tasks, and in the case of this device and service, any and all true AI tasks can only be handled online, because they are handled by a 3rd party providing the AI processing services.
      In the near future, portable devices will be equipped with Processing Units that can handle machine learning tasks, and it should be possible to have limited AI functionality while offline, but this is certainly not the case with these devices today.

      @@MyDeepGuideMy teams deployed Tensorflow.js apps on Rasberry Pi devices with no connectivity in the field. You are wrong about all AI going to the back end.
      When we implemented HW Rec. in 1989, we used techniques created by Yann LeCun, who runs AI for FB these days. It was called AI then, not OCR, which scanners did and still use. They’re different because OCR works on raster images, while the LeCun approach requires access to the actual strokes. They’re related by but not the same

We all (or mostly all) of us feel this would be a huge invasion of pricey and a security risk. I only hope that as more and more companies introduce AI, that we don’t become the metaphorical “lobster in the pot of water” where we get used to it everywhere, we are attracted to the benefits and we compromise - setting the disastrous standard. @@MyDeepGuideexactly. Which is how it should be. And WILL be. It’s just that the UX/UI part of ai assistance is still really young. It’s nothing more than an evolution of copy and paste and search imo. And tbf even that data was and is being sent out from your computer since 30y back.

    This lost me at "AI". I am so tired of the so-called AI being forced on me lately. It is a complete turn off.

    Just a note: it's not "wiwoods" like you're pronouncing, it's "viwoods", with the "v" like in ' victory', 'vital', "vile", etc... 😉

    It seems there is no place for creation in the device. Ai does everything. I don't get it and see not so much of human creation's use. You are following a machine creation. There is no point...

    It looks like another scam from the Chinese company. Boja's insight saved my money from the scam last time.

    NEVER! With this device, you might as well just upload your mental content into the intelligence agencies' databases. Horrible. Never in a million years. But, great review as always from Voija.

    Kickstarter as a company is a dumpster fire, they don't care about backers at all.

    Unrelated to this particular product, I think your portrayal of Kickstarter is a little unfair - there is no “risk”, or “spending of money and hoping for the best”. You are making a pledge (no money spent) based on the project being successful. If it fails, it costs you nothing. I think this it’s important to make clear, because many small, independent projects rely upon crowdfunding to survive. Intentional or not, you’re coming across as saying “most crowdfunding projects are scams”. Not the case in my opinion.

      You may have misunderstood what I was referring to. I wasn't talking about the Kickstarter campaign success. I was talking about the actual, real-world end results of backing a Kickstarter project.
      Once a project is funded and money is taken from backers, then you can only hope for the best, because there is absolutely no guarantee of anything.
      Additionally, I never once mentioned a word scam, nor was I implying that in any way. What I was talking about is the objective reality of backing a crowdfunding project. It is a gamble, in the sense, you don't know what, when or if you will receive anything, and people absolutely have to be aware of it, because some are not.
      I am not against crowdfunding in any way, but it always has to come with at least a yellow warning flag, because that's the reality of it.

      but also many successful campaigns fail to deliver on their promises or in the worst case nothing at all.

      Until the 21st Sept when the campaign finishes. Then you get charged the amount you pledged
