hmmm, we almost there - we just need komrade Putin to shot it up - and we back to mad max androgynous whatever-sexual riding with wigs and killing each other in a post-nuclear desert.
I love how the track is all programmed with one guitar track but the "live" performers have all the requisite "band" instruments...showing us all a view of the present where nothing is real.
SSS Super!
Sigue Sigue Sputnik were way ahead of their time...i actually think their music would make more sense on this age we are living. Truely visionaries the electronic blended with rock the way they did it is just perfect, even the way they looked.
He sure did, many copied him but none have compared! But he had that look working at YaYa before he joined Tony in SSS, Plus he did all of their hair & wardrobe for their performances
I remember I had to import this from Europe when I was a DJ back in the 80's. Not to many people understand this was the start of today's sounds all over the globe.
Fantastiques !! Quel bonheur d avoir retrouvé ce titre... Love New wave !!
They said it wasn't about the music, it never was! It was the image...the EVENT! But even so...they still ended up with a few good songs anyway, i mean hey, flaunt it had some cool catchy stuff on it! The 97 remix of Atari baby is freaking awesome!!
It was said by the manager that played guitar the whole sigue sigue sputnik thing was a piss take. To be honest though the music fitted the era of electro music and futuristic sci-fi
@@izzy_6283 watch the tv am interview their manager was on guitar he said it was all done to take the piss out of the music scene ... In all fairness when love missile f1-11 was released they only knew 3 chords
@@lasergod24833409 that's not exactly the same story Tony James tells. He said when he choose Martin to be in the band,it was for the outrageous look,he couldn't sing at all..(Tony was already a good guitar player(from GenX so was Neal(he played with Adam Ant) but they spent 5 years behind the scenes practicing & preparing to play together as a group. I think Martin even had singing lessons. But i agree,he did say it was a hit on the music industry. All of the sci fi type touches came from Tony as he was a computer science major at university
Because of all the hype, the public ended up hating them, and stopped paying attention to the music. This is a shame, because the music is great when taken on it's own merits.
True punks. Tony James was in Gen X. Neil X was not in gen x, but did play for adam ant. Mick friggin' Jones was their sound engineer. Just because it's not 3 chord of whining doesn't mean it's not punk. In fact, 3 chords and whining is derivative, and therefore NOT PUNK.
The reason some pointed out lip synch errors is why I felt sorry for Martin on this performance. EMI pulled the original mix of the 7" and reissued a new mix. From what I remember at the time TOTP changed the version to what EMI subsequently released so it matched the version that Radio 1 was giving airplay to. Martin basically had to wait to hear what was coming before he could mime it, so got caught out a couple times. BTW EVERYONE mimed on TOTP in those days. It was pre-requisite and the reason Sputnik pulled out of Mid Summers Tube, they hated miming.
30 years later and it still sounds like the future.
Yes like kraftwerk

É uma autêntica verdade! Este conjunto é especial e futurista. Adoro e tenho já 50 anos.
The world is yet to catch up ...
36 years and counting
unbelievable showmen, where have all these crazy days gone? obscenely fantastic
Honestly? I've been so hooked on them lately. I love their look and the sound is really cool. I really enjoy them.
Maravilha...viva os anos 80!!! Ouvindo em 2020 no Brasil!
I love how the track is all programmed with one guitar track but the "live" performers have all the requisite "band" instruments...showing us all a view of the present where nothing is real.
80s the best !

The music you find when just using recommended vids.. At 66, this driving rhythm is cool
One of the best ever band love you then and now.
Paving the way for Lady Gaga's wardrobe, at least. Sounding more "21st Century" in 1986 than most pop acts in 2017.....
gaga didn't do shit.
@@arcadetransylvania2066 agreed she Nicked Leigh bowery's Ideas as well when we doing this way back when she was just a Child
Don't insult SSS!
Gaga copied them and everyone under the sun. Roising Murphy, Bjork, Madonna, Bowie, Elton, Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons… even Cher.
Ah the 80's. Truly the decade of excess which SSS reveled in and celebrated. To this day Martin had the best hawk ever!
yeah his hawk would look like a FREAKFuK today 2016
He sure did, many copied him but none have compared! But he had that look working at YaYa before he joined Tony in SSS, Plus he did all of their hair & wardrobe for their performances
I love it! Much love from 🇵🇭

Two guitar players, two drummers and one synth player to perform the most minimalistic music of the world.
Exactly.

It's the same baseline in every song, shallow, pretentious, nonsensical lyrics, and random movie quotes.

High definition is a relative term. This high definition compared to no monitor at all.

ALL is relative....:)
It was a joke.☺

ETERNAL!!!
Btw. artists performing on TOTP were not allowed to play live. SSP was not an exeption.
love this, everyone else looks crap in the audience compared to SSS
Come back to the 80s please! This time , S XXI looks like a nigthmare, music dissapears.
its top of the pops, nobody sang live, bands werent allowed to play live. it was a 30 minute show on bbc
