I suffer with depression and anxiety, I've lost everything. I'm going to be homeless soon, but I don't look at it as a bad thing. Bushcraft and wild camping has given me the skills to be able to live and live well. When I go out camping in the woods it allows me to be me. If im honest, being homeless and living in the woods and off the land is going to be a perfect opportunity for me to reset / reboot if you get me. We never know what life is going to throw at us, we can only play with the cards we are dealt. I intend to play my cards to the fullest and treat my hopefully temporary homelessness as a trump card to getting back on track. Keep doing what you are doing pal....you are an inspiration!!

@@EastAnglianBushcraft What you said about not being able to shift a mood, I used to have that. Mostly affected by a lack of energy and motivation. When I finally had enough I decided to try something really controversial that would alienate me if people found out, but I didn't care and it actually ended up working. I ate nothing, and I mean nothing, but raw beef and raw eggs for about 3 weeks. I got it all from a good butcher/online organic shops and made sure the eggs were proper farm eggs not from a supermarket. The first 5 days I had diarrhea I'll be honest, but I didn't feel bad. Then I started sleeping for 5 hours a night and woke up instantly, refreshed and ready. I could cycle further without getting breathless. My senses improved, especially when I tried raw lambs liver. I realised that I wasn't really depressed, I was malnourished! The only thing affecting my mental state was the world around me. They've tried to scrub as much as they can about Aajonus Vonderplanitz off the web, but he's where I got the idea from. No I wouldn't eat a person. If you try it, dab! Don't wipe!

Life is bleak for a while when your best buddy is no longer with you, but if you can make room in your heart for another canine pal, perhaps one in desperate need of a loving for ever home, you will mend more quickly by way of the love you will be given.
Worked for me, and as all dogs need a job, you will see your new dog swiftly take on the role of cheering and consoling you. Doing so will not be a betrayal of your erstwhile companion, but in fact will be a memorial to all the joy that she/he gave you both. God bless, and may the sun soon shine again for you and a new companion brightening your lives.

MY BEST time out this summer was when I took my mate out for his birthday in late July, I cooked us big ribeye steaks with jacket potatoes onions & French ratpack canned cheese, washed down with a big bottle of Leffe, then we lay on our bedrolls sipping dark rum & smoking cigars. Was the best night in the woods I have had in ages.

One pan cooking over a wood fire, it’s the best! Your meal looks great too... It’s the contact with the natural world that helps keep our small brains on an even keel in my humble opinion. Good mates and communication help too . ... and cutting yourself some slack, not always listening to the negative criticism we can subject ourselves too... Obviously, a modest consumption of good ale is an additional tonic! Keep up the good work boi !

Was great to see you at the community camp, some awesome people there, again. Alex and Richie legends as always.
Answer to a bad mood is a walk in the woods with my four legged buddy, 🐕 stopping to make a brew. The worries of the world go on hold for a while.

I definitely struggle to pull myself out of a bad mood, I've gotten a little better at it as I've gotten older and recognised it as a problem. I'm very fortunate that my wife is a true optimist, she often helps to bring me out of a bad mood.
I find going for a walk tends to help lift my mood, even if it's just into our local town to run a few errands. I work from home so I think getting outside and having a change of scenery is what does it.

Greetings, my favorite camping moment this summer was along the Yellowstone River between Livingston Montana and Yellowstone NP. I was the only one camping at this spot along the river. Watched an eagle swooping down into the river catching trout. Deer were coming out to feed in fields. As the sun was setting I had snow capped peaks of the Rocky Mountain range to take in in the most beautiful wild place. Awsome!

I used to really suffer from feeling how you described, like you've gotta sleep off the bad feeling. If I'm in a bad mood that I can't seem to shift I find I need to get lost in something. Bushcraft videos work really well for me, but so does getting on the exercise bike and watching a few episodes of a TV series. My mind is then thinking about the TV and the exercise, which means there's not much capacity left to mull on what's got me in a bad mood. Alternatively, sometimes I just go hard on things I'm thankful for, think about good times with the kids, nice stuff I've got coming up, the important people in my life. It sounds cheesy but sometimes it does the trick. Finally, sometimes the classic 'have a word with yourself' works, do you really wanna spend the next 6 hours being miserable and waste another little bit of your life being unhappy, not always easy but sometimes does the trick.

Best camp this summer for me was at the top of the Falls of glomach on the Cape Wrath Trail during a 260 mile hike in the highlands of Scotland, epic sunset was like something out of middle earth. Storm clouds burning many shades of red and Orange, 10 minutes later the heavens opened with torrential downpours and sketchy thunder and lightning. Slightly scared by mother nature's wrath but cosy under my tarp tucked into my bivvy, feeling alive and in a happy place. Thanks for the awesome vids you put out dude, your openness with mental health and being outdoors has helped and inspired me to cope and come to terms and seek help with my own issues dealing with trauma. Good luck on your hike bro.

I do love a thunderstorm. Shaka! I took a walk in a wood I'd never seen before. I was on a recce and saw a lot of deep floor litter and not much evidence of man. It was just 500 metres from a local B road and couldn't hear anything but birds and distant deer. Magical. I'll go back there soon, check it out. I reckon a plough point would be the wtg.

@@EastAnglianBushcraft will update you. Will be trying to get out more soon, work gets in the way unavoidably, civil service is shit sometimes but working from home is boss. Warm and dry without other people's germs and bs or office politics which I can't stand. Worst than a guard room mate. I keep telling myself 4 years to pension and I'm gone. Van, travel.

Awesome channel brudda. Keep up the good work man. I'm from New Zealand if ever your down these ways so much remote wild camping in the South island. Amazing scenery here. Best camping trip this summer me and a mate bikepacked across the width of the North island cape to cape (the kopiko trail) 1300kms over 15 days wild camping in the bush and by rivers cooking on the fire. Good times.
Hope your hike goes well. Take it easy Jonno

    Another fantastic video Craig.
I totally get what said about those moods. You pretty much hit the nail as to how I've been the past week or so.
I know because of the type of work I do, it is something that is very common. But unfortunately not enough people feel comfortable enough to talk about it and sadly suffer in silence.
I've found that being outdoors and nature has been something thats good for both physical and mental wellbeing. I've promised myself a bushwalk after work today.
My best outdoor experience this year has been my first trip out on my kayak on my local river.
I've lived in my area for 10 years, but realised there is still so much fot me to explore. 🤟
