This is a Galaxy, not a Fairlane, 500 or otherwise. The Fairlanes had much slimmer rear corner posts and a much different wrap-around back window. I am 69 years old. I remember these cars when they were new.
Mainly in 1959 the Ford galaxie and the Fairlane 500 were labeled together in 1959 the top of the line Fairlane models were called the Fairlane 500 galaxie meaning both Fairlane and galaxie badges were present on the car this marked the introduction of the galaxie nameplate as a separate model in the Fairlane line.
@@chrisheyer1 I am fully aware of what you are saying - I remember these cars when they were new - but Ford NEVER publicly referred to or advertised the Galaxy as a "Fairlane 500 Galaxy", just "Ford Galaxie". The reason being that they wanted to more closely associate it with the Thunderbird, whose recessed rear window and wide rear corner posts it imitated. It came out a few months after the Customs and Fairlanes. The "regular" Fairlanes, both base and 500, had the same rear window and rear corner posts as the cheaper Custom 300. Check out the period advertising for the 59 Ford Galaxy if you don't believe me. PS: I don't believe in revisionism.
That's a nice car ! I love to get em in that condition and tinker and work out all the bugs, then buff her till she shines. Good job guys !
What a lovely car!
You could use a choke cable for that hood release if you can't find a factory hood release. One. ?
Drill a vent hole in that plastic gas cap, it should be vented. For that tank ?

You need to get a better camera. I don't know if you have noticed, but everything is reversed.
