I usually do three yards for a top and 5 yards for a dress! That way if I have any mistakes I have a little bit extra.😂

The extra yardage is a good safety net!

The tears come with the memories. Your mom was such a blessing, as you are a blessing for your children. The cake looked beautiful and delicious! Take care.
I generally purchase 3 or 3 1/2 yds. of fabric. I often will purchase fabric because I like it and know I’ll find some garment to make with it.

I know, she was so special. I'm lucky to have had her and to have been loved by her. Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m here for purchasing pretty fabrics!!! They eventually say what they wanna become!

I always buy three metres. That’s generally enough for what I need. I’m short so sometimes I have to shorten dresses and I have some left over. The cake sample always hits differently. Love it

3 seems to be the sweet spot. Lol well I’m hoping the real thing is as good as the sample 😅🤣

I purchase a minimum of three yards. I also pick up the one yard remnants which are typically 75% off plus whatever percent that fabric is on sale for. I can always get a top out of that one yard as it is primarily 60 inches wide.
I'm so happy that you're cake turned out delicious!

Wow thats a great bargain especially if you can make a top from the remnants!!!! thank you so much. I am so proud of myself

2 yards for a top. 3 yards for a dress or trousers. All bets are off if it is a good sale. I have tears in my eyes. You are blessed to have such wonderful memories of your mother. Enjoy them while you are crying your eyes out. You deserve the opportunity.

lol at sale. Sale means you can get more right!!! Thanks so much. I miss her dearly but I know I’m fortunate to even has that time with her!

Thanks for the video. 3 to 5 yards is my jam.
You are making me homesick. Growing up in Panama, my grandmother made her cake by soaking her fruit in a pint of rum every month. On December 26, Grandma got everything together. On January 1, Grandma would add a pint to her fixings. Grandma would continue by adding a pint a month until it was Christmas.

Oh wow. Maybe I should try this from January!!!

That cake looked So good! I love the long music at the end. I'm not sure if you meant to leave that in there, but it was nice to hear. 🥰

I'm glad your cake came out well. Thanks for sharing a longer version of your intro sound. I usually buy two yards of fabric, but if it's a narrow width or on sale, I'll buy more. I love a good fabric sale.

It was definitely a stress baking session! Yes width of fabric is an important factor!!! And thanks re the music 😃

I can tell by the expression on your face that black cake is delicious! I usually purchase three yards. It is better to have a little more than not enough.

I usually buy 3-4 yards unless I’m thinking of a jumpsuit.

    • @unsewcial
      @unsewcial  หลายเดือนก่อน

Oooo how much fabric do you typically use for a jumpsuit?

    • @silverfox70
      @silverfox70 หลายเดือนก่อน

Some say 4 yds if woven not knit

I usually purchase anywhere from 1-5 yards of fabric. I'm like you though, I buy fabrics on a whim if the beautiful fabric catches my eye. I am so happy your cake came out great!

Gahhhh fabric is a real weakness!!! Pretty ones somehow end up in my stash. I don’t even know how 😆🤣🤣🤣🤣

3 meter minimum, but if I think it could be a maxi dress I'll buy more. I'm so happy your cake turned out well! Your mama is smiling down on you!
I liked hearing more of the music at the end. ❤

I’m so glad it turned out ok! I was panicking inside but it’s done!!! Yes 3 meters is a happy minimum I think!

    Cake looks good
    I don't buy fabric online
I'm retired, don't need any clothes, sew to stay sane and have something to do.
I prefer to buy remnants usually .6m or greater, for next to nothing$$$. Love it when I find "buy one bundle get one free". It's usually marked "unknown content", but I can usually figure it out.
I like to see what I can get out of a meter... It's a game, also I enjoy mixing patterns and colors etc in one garment.
I don't sew dresses or slacks. I don't wear dresses and buy all my slacks or bottoms
I do sew skirts and skorts, shorts.
If I'm just adding fabric to stash other than remnants it's usually because it's weird or both weird and on discount. I'm more of a collector.
2M is my go-to for weird
3M if it's heavily discounted for $2/M or less and it's interesting.
I rarely have a plan in mind before buying the fabric.
I recently toke two HUGE lawn& garden garbage bags to the thrift store. To unload "WhatWasIThinking?" fabric. It was great to get rid of it.

It was a good cake! Glad it came out ok. I love the sewing to stay sane. I’ve found that it truly does help ( me) with mental health!!!

That’s a little more than 3 yards but hereabout seems to be the go to for many!
