This was their first original, released back in 2014, and iirc it was a top 10 song in Japan. They still to this day always end their concerts with this song. I think all Dirty Loops fans would be deeply disappointed if they didn't. :) They truly are rhythm wizards. Most of their songs are in 4/4 or 12/8 all the way through, but they play around with displacement, polyrhythm, and syncopation in a way that totally messes with your perception of time. Gotta love the way they're thinking outside of the box.
You're absolutely right Jonahs singing style and tone is a blend of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson and yet his own. All of them in a league of their own!
You’re analysis and your quotes are priceless…. ☺️ ‘Who gave him permission to flex? :)’ such a good question. Their time signature wizardry 🧙♂️🧙♂️🧙♂️ and lastly ‘they’re playing 4-D chess whilst the rest of us play checkers 🤣’ it’s the bomb haha :D This tune slays you. There’s nothing that can be said about it, it’s just too damn brilliant. I’m glad you’ve found this one. And thanks again for a stellar reaction, Phil 👍☺️🙏
