Just got into Aeon's End this week. It is amazing. It has rocketed to one of my top 4-ish games. Maybe top 2 even. Can't praise it enough. I hope to begin picking up expansions like War Eternal here and there when I get the chance!

Bad example for the rule ambiguities...the card literally says "Focus". That's a well-defined keyword in the context of the game so I don't think there's any reason think you could open a breach with it. I have run into some other ambiguities in the base game though so you do have a point!
Thanks for the overview though, very helpful in deciding to back this on KS.

Strangely enough, your comment proves our point. We got a headsup on boardgame geek that it actually can open the breach, via page 14 of the rulebook. We're not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that there are cards where the text doesn't explain certain aspects in the depth a player might expect. Thanks for watching!

Haha, really? That's hilarious. I stand corrected, then. :)

I mean, I have never played one of these before (Voidwalker pledge coming my way), but if I understand it, to "focus" a breach is just to turn it to the next level, yes? So the question is whether or not the final act of opening a breach counts as the final focus? I can see how that needs some clarity. Hopefully that rulebook provides.

Yeah that was my thinking as well, but OP is correct that Kevin Riley, the game's designer, has confirmed on boardgamegeek that you can use a "focus" card to open a breach (see boardgamegeek.com/thread/1675972/focusing-orb-questions). His word is law! :D

I don't like the word "GAIN" they use in Aeon's end. With some cards you "GAIN" when you buy, some cards you "GAIN" when you cast. I guess you could figure out yourself but why not make it easy?
