If you had not shown the email and made us all aware of the issue (and also put some "pressure" on them to resolve it) you bet it would go on for a long time. It was a bully tactic by them and you handled it perfectly. Any email you receive is YOURS to do anything you like with it anyway, so if you decided to show it it's your decision and if they are ashamed of the contents of the email well... that says more about them than about you :) Keep going strong! As many others have said, you have revived my interest for chess after a long time, and now I watch chess not only on your channel but also on other platforms, and that is thanks to the FREE advertisement you do for chess. They should be thanking you, not threatening you!
@ actually that doesn't hold up in court. Legally you don't have a right to privacy in the messages you send to others unless you get a non disclosure agreement. And you can't get a nda on legal threats.
I searched Peter Svidler and agadmator together and 14 videos turned up. I've always noticed the high esteem you hold for Svidler as a brilliant chess commentator and also as a nice person. Calling names isn't something expected of him.
let's acknowledge the fact that none of this would have happened had STL communicated clearly in their first email. The first mistake was initiated by their end. One doesn't get to make a mistake and whine about the ramifications.
Wouldn't worry about Svidler. I've otherwise got a lot of respect for the guy, but he doesn't know what he's on about here. His tweets show a complete lack of awareness of the threat presented by a copyright claim for someone who makes a living off TH-cam or any similar such platform. You were right to play hardball with them.

Actually, I tend to agree with him a bit here. Publishing the email was certainly okay, and probably sensible, but agad should have filtered out the address, because it's not unlikely that Tammy has been subject to personal abuse in the last 24 hours.

I'm glad that STLCC stepped up and admitted the mistake. Overall it seems like one person who had STLCC's best interests in mind took action without consulting experts and without considering the consequences. You're the 'little guy' in this scenario, Antonio - and little guys get squashed by large organizations all the time when they don't defend themselves. You did the right thing to preserve your livelihood and public image. Now it's over and we can all be friends in the shared spirit of supporting this game we love.

To agadmator: Just so you know, I found the Saint Louis Chess Club through your channel. I now watch and subscribe to them, as well. It is clear that you are not in competition with them. I have watched many games on both, first on SLCC and then on your channel to hear your opinions and commentary. MANY. A guess that it may have been in reverse order, occasionally, too. I am a subscriber to their channel because of you. I hope that YT and the good advertisers will realize that yours is just another route to SLCC, and not a detour. A big institution would abuse its powers and assets and threaten people, unless they turnout to have a decent fan base on social media and they expose the misstreatment. I saw similar videos on youtube of youtubers being wrongfully treated and only gotten justice when they spoke about it to the media. So unsubscribing from SLCC's youtube channel is really saying, I don't like people who boss around less resourceful individuals.

No there is no need to esclate the situation that way, simply email them and say "you will no longer watch the live feed of StLCC b/c of how they threaten copyright claims of smaller channels. A channel that promotes your tournaments amd live broadcasts." Keep it civil and realize don't they can't just be the only group to talk about this.

Amongst all chess channels I have experienced I like yours the most, right intended and with lot of homework, It's a great channel. Please never put it down.
Peter Svidler might be a nice guy and we respect him for his talent but talent doesn't mean you can say anything to anyone. His tweet is inappropriate. May be he didn't know the whole issue or what the Fair Use policy is but commenting without knowing is just being stupid. These players should be role models and stand up for chess and justice, seems like money has changed his loyalties in favor of St. Louis Chess Club. He should take that tweet down...he is doing harm to himself and no one else. We are all avid followers of Antonio and we respect him for his actions. You can't threaten someone and then complain about exposing you. They should think twice before making fool of themselves again.

If the Club wanted then they could have found the person behind this on their own when they investigated the issue. Secondly the mail is self explanatory. He doesn't need to explain the copyright issue. It is very well explained in the mail. Thirdly such mails should not be sent without consulting the attorney. One should accept their mistakes as they are. If her livelihood is threatened it is because of her own actions as she sent the mail without consulting the attorney. Now the douche move incident. When the Club itself has accepted that there is no substance in the case and Antonio has not done any violation then the matter has ended. Again flaring it up with derogatory tweets like the ones of Svidler is not appropriate. Everybody has a right to their own opinion and you may agree with Svidler and I can disagree.

I'm new to chess and I wouldn't have even known something like the Sinquefield Cup was a thing. But this channel actually got me interested in chess enough that I checked in on the live stream on the site during the tournament, which I have never done for a chess tournament before I started watching this channel. If their move was a clean and fair one, why is making it public a dush move? If they were the real victims, making it public only would add to their case, not yours. Chris Hyde I never read the actual books. The term "alpha male" gets thrown around too commonly these days, though. Every schmuck out there is convinced that he's something special. Bond should be bigger than alpha maleness, I think. I like the idea of a proven, sophisticated, chess master getting the position. The current dude they're looking at is black. Your second point about Bond being portrayed by a black actor. George Takei is gay in real life but Lt Sulu was not in the series. If the producers want to create a new character who is gay, that’s fine. George Takei, himself, criticized the new portrayal of the character he created. Another point, if someone produced a new movie about Muhammad Ali and chose a white actor to play him, it would be equally ludicrous. Enough gay people have accomplished great things and their stories should be portrayed accurately. Identity politics ultimately celebrates facile or innate traits rather than character. Being Chinese or 6’10” tall are all determined by birth. No one should be proud or ashamed with what they born to be. What a person does with what they have is the salient point.

It was incredibly tone deaf for SLCSC to file a TH-cam complaint without the courtesy of a prior communication. They should be ashamed and embarrassed. Furthermore, I find it very telling that they did not address the issue with you until they were positively slaughtered by a deluge of online comments during and after the Round 9 broadcast. All of us want to see a strong and healthy internet chess community. That requires good citizenship behavior. Tammy was caught speeding and got ticketed by several thousand internet chess citizens. That's not a private matter. Tammy and SLCSC owe a quarter million of us an apology. #GetRealPeter

If you had not shown the email and made us all aware of the issue (and also put some "pressure" on them to resolve it) you bet it would go on for a long time.
It was a bully tactic by them and you handled it perfectly.
Any email you receive is YOURS to do anything you like with it anyway, so if you decided to show it it's your decision and if they are ashamed of the contents of the email well... that says more about them than about you :)

I searched Peter Svidler and agadmator together and 14 videos turned up. I've always noticed the high esteem you hold for Svidler as a brilliant chess commentator and also as a nice person. Calling names isn't something expected of him.
let's acknowledge the fact that none of this would have happened had STL communicated clearly in their first email. The first mistake was initiated by their end. One doesn't get to make a mistake and whine about the ramifications.

Wouldn't worry about Svidler. I've otherwise got a lot of respect for the guy, but he doesn't know what he's on about here. His tweets show a complete lack of awareness of the threat presented by a copyright claim for someone who makes a living off TH-cam or any similar such platform. You were right to play hardball with them.

I'm glad that STLCC stepped up and admitted the mistake. Overall it seems like one person who had STLCC's best interests in mind took action without consulting experts and without considering the consequences. You're the 'little guy' in this scenario, Antonio - and little guys get squashed by large organizations all the time when they don't defend themselves. You did the right thing to preserve your livelihood and public image. Now it's over and we can all be friends in the shared spirit of supporting this game we love.

To agadmator: Just so you know, I found the Saint Louis Chess Club through your channel. I now watch and subscribe to them, as well. It is clear that you are not in competition with them. I have watched many games on both, first on SLCC and then on your channel to hear your opinions and commentary. MANY. A guess that it may have been in reverse order, occasionally, too. I am a subscriber to their channel because of you. I hope that YT and the good advertisers will realize that yours is just another route to SLCC, and not a detour. A big institution would abuse its powers and assets and threaten people, unless they turnout to have a decent fan base on social media and they expose the misstreatment. I saw similar videos on youtube of youtubers being wrongfully treated and only gotten justice when they spoke about it to the media. So unsubscribing from SLCC's youtube channel is really saying, I don't like people who boss around less resourceful individuals.
Antonio has the stamina, nerves, and other qualities he attributes to Magnus and RJF. He stared down St. Louis Chess Club and called out Svidler for talking trash. An Absolute Legend.

Amongst all chess channels I have experienced I like yours the most, right intended and with lot of homework, It's a great channel. Please never put it down.
Peter Svidler might be a nice guy and we respect him for his talent but talent doesn't mean you can say anything to anyone. His tweet is inappropriate. May be he didn't know the whole issue or what the Fair Use policy is but commenting without knowing is just being stupid. These players should be role models and stand up for chess and justice, seems like money has changed his loyalties in favor of St. Louis Chess Club. He should take that tweet down...he is doing harm to himself and no one else. We are all avid followers of Antonio and we respect him for his actions. You can't threaten someone and then complain about exposing you. They should think twice before making fool of themselves again.

If the Club wanted then they could have found the person behind this on their own when they investigated the issue. Secondly the mail is self explanatory. He doesn't need to explain the copyright issue. It is very well explained in the mail. Thirdly such mails should not be sent without consulting the attorney. One should accept their mistakes as they are. If her livelihood is threatened it is because of her own actions as she sent the mail without consulting the attorney. Now the douche move incident. When the Club itself has accepted that there is no substance in the case and Antonio has not done any violation then the matter has ended. Again flaring it up with derogatory tweets like the ones of Svidler is not appropriate. Everybody has a right to their own opinion and you may agree with Svidler and I can disagree.

But this channel actually got me interested in chess enough that I checked in on the live stream on the site during the tournament, which I have never done for a chess tournament before I started watching this channel.

Your second point about Bond being portrayed by a black actor. George Takei is gay in real life but Lt Sulu was not in the series. If the producers want to create a new character who is gay, that’s fine. George Takei, himself, criticized the new portrayal of the character he created. Another point, if someone produced a new movie about Muhammad Ali and chose a white actor to play him, it would be equally ludicrous. Enough gay people have accomplished great things and their stories should be portrayed accurately. Identity politics ultimately celebrates facile or innate traits rather than character. Being Chinese or 6’10” tall are all determined by birth. No one should be proud or ashamed with what they born to be. What a person does with what they have is the salient point.

I like Peter Svidler a lot as well. But I think he was wrong. Close to a quarter million chess enthusiasts rely daily on the Agadmator channel for chess education and news. It was incredibly tone deaf for SLCSC to file a TH-cam complaint without the courtesy of a prior communication. They should be ashamed and embarrassed. Furthermore, I find it very telling that they did not address the issue with you until they were positively slaughtered by a deluge of online comments during and after the Round 9 broadcast. All of us want to see a strong and healthy internet chess community. That requires good citizenship behavior. Tammy was caught speeding and got ticketed by several thousand internet chess citizens. That's not a private matter. Tammy and SLCSC owe a quarter million of us an apology. #GetRealPeter
