What happens if the brushes don’t come out that easy. Or at all. I’ve got the same saw but my brother in-law left it in the rain. And now I can’t remove the brushes
Too bad nobody responded because i have the same problem. I am going to try pushing the brushes through once i remove the rotor. The rotor is not coming out easily BTW.
Would have been useful info. I freed one with a light tap with a screwdriver. I broke the other up in situ with a screwdriver, they are soft but one doesn't want to damage the commutator underneath.
On my makita mitre saw LS1013 which I bought new maybe 15 maybe 20 years ago and never changed brushes on it. the brusshes are stuck. I removed the caps and pull on the brushes but they won't budge. Both of them. Anyone had this happen to them?
I ended up using s tool to break the brushes inside and plucking the broken pieces out. Then installed new brushes. The new ones slide in easily, no problem. The old one must've gotten swollen and seized up inside.
I’d be lost without you. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for sharing! Now (in conjunction with other vids+reading) I think I know all I need to feel comfortable servicing my new used saw. 🙂
Wish there was an example of a worn out brush to compare with the replacement so we could tell when it was time to replace it.

I put a dot of wd-40 after removing the caps, tapped a bit on the metal and was able to then pull the rotors. Runs much better.
The video is good but you need to chill out a bit with the music volume at some points.
Thanks for sharing was very helpful God bless you
