Hello. I want to install the saw head into a caged automated machine. And start and stop saw using a 15A contactor. But this gives an issue with the brake not functioning. I presume one side of switch is powered all the time for this to work. Any ideas?
Thanks. I have the same Makita Mitar saw and lately been having an issue. After I finish my cut and release the switch lever, the motor does not stop immediately or at least as it used to be. The motor continues running and the blade spinning for about 10 - 20 seconds. Do you think this is a switch problem that needs to be replaced?
I have a Makita LS 1013 mitre saw. Its blade is a little rusty and dull and the wood I was cutting was rather hard - so the blade stalled. I let go of the trigger but when I pressed it again the saw made no sound. I tried few times and got nothing. Th3e stall was very brief. I don't think the motor got damaged. Can anyone advise?

Thank you for this very helpful video which enabled me to rewire and reassemble my saw in England.
Interesting - my LS1040 (2002) has a second safety switch fitted in the handle...

So what do you do to fix the brake after replacing the switch and brushes. Mine still won't brake thanks for your time.
Found at scrap yard paid 20 dollars for it , maybe a new switch & switch button mite get it going again .

How can you tell if it’s the switch that has broken?
You can test them with a multimeter set to test continiuity...
I did that and still not working!! Do you know what else I can check for?
