Celebrating 'MADtv'

  • Here's my tribute to the incredibly talent cast from MADtv. I never watched the 'rebooted' series, so I focused on the first nine seasons which created such memorable characters that, in my opinion, eclipsed what SNL has delivered.
    I salute this show for not being afraid of 'rocking the boat' by emulating politically incorrect characters, who represented the low-mindedness in today's culture. They triumphed by always remaining hilarious despite the shock value.
    This segment focuses on Michael MacDonald ("Stuart"), Alex Borstein ("Ms. Swan"), Debra Wilson ( "Whitney Houston"), Keegan-Michael Key ("Coach Hines"), Nicole Sullivan ("Vancome Lady'), Mo Collins ("Lorraine"), Stephnie Weir ("Dot") and many others who contributed as the original cast.
    Some of the amazing material was very difficult to find. I did my best to find the highest quality, but some were impossible to find. They were such classic episodes that I included them in this segment, as corrected the image/sound as much as I could. Hope you can still appreciate these hysterical clips.

      Straight up. Smaller cast due to a smaller show I assume but that’s what makes it better than SNL to me. Their entire cast has to be on point, always. No room for dead weight. My favorite comedians and comediennes come from this show. Will Sasso, to me, is hands down the funniest fuckin’ guy on the planet.

    • @markuse3472
      @markuse3472 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarrettLoganGriffin Nah, SNL is better. Their acting is about acting and being as versatile as much as possible and they both show. I can't say that about MadTv. Some acts and scripts/skits surely were very good, but not all. SNL is jam-packed with much talent. Usually.

      I think madTV ended well when it did, before political correctness was all that mattered. They knew when to walk away. In this decade it would definitely either be bogged down and muddled by new producers and comedians or just tasteless comedy, their ratings started to plummet so they decided to quit while it was still hot instead of wring every last drop they had until it sucked. I think the last season was the worst, it just wasn’t funny to me. I’m glad they went out with dignity and now they’re hailed as legends. Mad TV will forever be a favorite of mine and hold a place in my heart. IDC what anyone says: MadTv puts SNL to shame any day! Yes SNL has had it's funny characters/sketches but in my opinion MadTv showcased funnier, more talented people far more consistently. Plus, there is a certain "brand" of wildly inappropriate and bizarrely hilarious humor that MadTv NAILED and that is my sense of humor 100%!
    These characters remain with me still and always will and are still- all these years later-a huge part of my life...the references, quotes, quips, re-enactments and goofy inside jokes that me and my sister make constantly are never ending! Lol TO THIS DAY there's not a winter that goes by where I don't say "Look how little my gloves are" every. time. I. wear. gloves. 😂 We are also prone to busting out with an impromptu "look what I can do!" often. So here's to MadTv for the memories that last forever. I miss this show so much. They never got the recognition they deserved, dammit! And here's to Mad Magazine, too. I'm proud to be able to have passed my love of the show and magazine collection onto my own teen daughter.

    Paul Vogt and Danielle Gaither are both seriously underrated.
    Good to find original fans like myself, as well as newcomers!!
    I say original because when I used to watch this circa '97, a lot of those newcomers were just being born 😆

      It's true that America is way too sensitive. You can't tell a joke without hurting someone's feelings now. Last night Kim Kardashian hosted SNL and though I cannot stand her, I thought it was brilliant the way she and her family we're good sports about all the jokes that they wrote about Chloe Kanye Kendall Kylie and Chris. It's the only time I've ever liked or wanted to keep up with the Kardashians

    Thank you for compiling this! I hope MADtv is brought back on another channel or streaming platform. I believe both MAD and SNL has their own strengths in terms of comedy, but MAD would go where SNL couldn't, and that's why I miss the show.
