A worthwhile interview to listen to for sure. I've always liked David Gilmore as a guitarist and singer. Never thought much about Roger Waters but paying more attention to him and listening to him expressing his thoughts, I've become more respectful of him.

I discovered this band when I was 14 yrs old, my friend played the album Dark Side of the Moon and I fell in love w/ the album. Then shorty after that, the album The Wall was released. I remember receiving the vinyl album for my birthday that year. I have it on CD now and I listen to it often. I've always been a person who has read many books from the time I began reading as a tot. I know a lot about the way Roger Waters thinks and how he feels, from reading and watching interviews. As a teenager it was Rolling Stone magazine etc and I think Roger's mind is amazing. Pink Floyd was my favorite band b/c they made me think about things like my place in the world. How I can help to make things better in the world etc. How easy it is to follow the dark side b/c of fascist propaganda feeding worms into your brain, etc. All of their work together was phenomenal. And I do wish that David Gilmour and Roger Waters would be able to work things out together and create their mind blowing, collective musical art together. However, I'm anxiously awaiting Roger's tour in the USA. In fact, we have tickets for one of your shows. Considering driving about 8 hours for another show that's in a neighboring State as well. I play all of my Pink Floyd CD's regularly. I listen to Roger's latest work on iHeart and have enjoyed it. I know it's going to be a great show this year. Looking forward to it.

I have never understood the antisemitism thing. Reason being is why are all Semites not regarded as Semitic. The Palestinians ,the Lebanese, the Iraqis and Syrians are all Semitic. They are all from the Semitic region. However those who claim antisemitism are in fact not Semites. They are European, and look European. People seem to be afraid to mention colonialism. Why is that?.

Roger's online store recently released a book "In the Pink" written by Nick Sedgwick (one of Rogers good friends) which talks about the time he spent in childhood with Roger, but also both on holiday and on tour with him in the early seventies, immediately following the release of Dark Side. It's a phenomenally good book for hearing about Roger and the band (they apparently either blocked it from release, or asked the author not to publish in the 70s as no-one liked how they came across), very honest, and includes a lot of handwritten notes by Roger from his rereading before the recent publication. It's one of the best Pink Floyd/Roger Waters books out there if you haven't read it, and it's reasonably unique for having the blessing of (and input from) Roger himself on it's release.

Reminds me of how we sang 'This Land is Our Land' in primary school - never knowing there were additional verses we were never taught that made it clear that in reality America was not 'ours' but rather belongs to the wealthy. Woody would be turning in his grave if he knew that his song was being used instead to indoctrinate American kids into believing their ancestors had some pre-ordained right to occupy the continent.

I think floyd was over anyway. Don't get me wrong. Look at my username. My favourite group but you have to remember that Rick was pretty deep into Cocaine at the time he got fired. Waters and the others had a deadline for the record to be in stores for Christmas. They lost their own money making the wall. And when all was said and done... Roger was painted out as a villain. He probably was difficult to work with?!. Idk. But there's always three sides to the truth. His side. Gilmours side. And then the truth

If We don’t , somebody else will “ . For the whole narrative to be justified by an answer that reminded me of my reply to Miss Whittaker in 1970 as a 6 yr old receiving his first rollocking & having to explain why I’d Pushed Over the concrete mushrooms in the school playground. ...( “ Because Alan had told me to ! “ - to which the Teacher replied “ if Alan told you to stick you head into a bucket of water , would you do that ? “ I could’ve replied “ if I didn’t, someone else would’ve “ - but I’d have got a bigger smack ) 🙄🏴❤️

The Jews are indigenous to Judaea. The Palestinians are Arabs and indigenous to the Arabian gulf region. Even the European Jews are from Judaea but they were taken to Europe as Roman slaves. Most Palestinians arrived as actual settler colonials after 1886 to benefit from new Jewish markets for goods and labor. In earlier centuries the Ottoman often sent groups of Muslims from all over the empire to settle in Palestine. The Bosnians are probably the best known example.
But far more important - this issue is irrelevant. First , the UN helped formally create Israel. The Palestinians could’ve had a state but they said No bc they didn’t want the Jews to gave a state. Plus, unlike the Arabs, the Jews bought their land fair and square. If you buy property it’s yours, just as in every country. The British even offered to set up an Arab equivalent to the Jewish National Fund. They said no.

52:48 Rog explaining when Donald Trump had his own Roger Waters epiphany of self loathing.

  • @newtonfirefly3584
    @newtonfirefly3584 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Roger seems to portray as proper, correct, meaningful, "human" concepts, ideas, ideals, thoughts, views, perspectives, perceptions.
However, though they have validity, the actual stance on many issue is based upon false information.
    A few specific examples:
    A. "Palestinian" definition: inhabitants of Palestine. Area/Region of Palestine was defined by Greece, continued by Rome, Ottoman Empires then Britain post WWI (given control post war via L.N., Balfour). There is NO history of a single people called Palestinians until Yasser Arafat, born in Egypt, directed by his father to undermine the existence of The State of Israel, initiated the use of the name of Falsti for the Arabs. These Arabs are in "indigenous" and only arrived in The Holy Land after more significant numbers of Yidden came to inhabit the desolate land.
    B. His connections with U.N. are his connections with the Globalists/Elite who formed the N.L., U.N., funded both sides of WWI, II; they are those who benefit with Wars, and military equipment.
    C. The portrayal of the situations in [G]Aza, Genine, inhumane behavior if Israel, its behavior against the Arabs.
Live here, and see, know of these false stories, information, portrayal is obvious.
The Hamas, Fatah, Hezbollah, etc., are showing their actual inhumane actions upon their own people (e.g. public executions), "brain washing", against Israel inhabitants, Yidden/Jews, especially civilians.
    D. Peace plan mentioned, date 50 years, is not implemented, accepted, etc., is completely false! Actually, Arafat, Fatah, Hamas have never accepted any proposed peace plan, rather only a complete removal of Yidden/Jews having habitation and existence in their given Holy Land.
These Arabs are not indigenous to the Holy Land, and only came from the surrounding regions, some were portions of Palestine; Syria, Jordan, Lebanon.
Their statements are completely FALSE, proven.
They continue the Fake, False portrayal shown well, explicitly, exactly by BBC, CNN.
The local inhabitants come to this reporter, with a purpose; to participate in the false portrayal.
These men are despicable, appalling, disgusting people hiding behind the false mask, disguise, guise of human existence, humanity, humanism, humane behavior intertwined with the agenda of the UN/Globalists/Elite.

Today it’s worse, countless Palestinian kids including mentally impaired kids have had suicide bombs strapped to them. Then afterwards the mother has to pretend to be *happy* that her kid was just blown up. I’m a martyrs mother, jack god! So to summarize, Meir doesn’t even want to kill Palestinian children while Palestinians kill their own kids in bids to kill Jewish kids.

When shock rock DJ Howard Stern called out Roger Waters - bassist and song writer of the famous rock band Pink Floyd on his call for an Israeli boycott, Mr. Stern talked of Israel being a tiny piece of desert no one wants - where Jews can go live and be accepted. What Mr. Stern didn't point out is that if the Middle East were shrunk down and fit into a scale model the size of a football stadium, Israel would be the size of a carton of cigarettes.
In arguing for an Israeli boycott, Roger Waters finally provides the evidence that he not only is a huge antisemite, but that he has no idea what it's like to be Jewish and an Israeli. He shows he knows nothing of the Jewish religion and culture and doesn't understand that it is a religion all about perseverance and survival in the face of total annihilation - that the vast majority of Jewish religious holidays are about overcoming persecution and annihilation - stretching back millenniums to biblical times.
    1. Passover - a holiday about overcoming Egyptian slavery and persecution
    2. Purim - a holiday about the story of the book of Esther - a king and prime minister bent on killing all the Jews in their country
    3. Chanukah - a holiday created during the Spanish Inquisition about the destruction of the Jewish temple and annihilation of the Biblical Jewish state.
    4. Yom Hashoa - a 20th Century religious holiday commemorating the 6 million Jews who died in Nazi ovens and gas chambers.
Mr Waters knows nothing about being part of a people who have lived and survived for thousands of years with a blade at your throat - And with all the hatred of the world - worldwide - heaped on the Jews for their different way of life and their simple belief that the messiah has not come yet.
He obviously knows nothing about how the Palestinians continue to foment the total destruction of the Jewish State thru their terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. Organizations that have been recognized the world over as terrorist organizations involved with violent activities. He doesn't see how the Palestinians continue to accept funds and weapons from Iran - a country that is led by religious zealots bent on israel's total destruction - and whose former president was quoted as saying the holocaust never happened.
Roger Waters David Gilmour and Nick Mason point their fingers at Israel and blame them for the deaths of innocent Palestinians. They accuse Israel of persecuting Palestinians - of occupying Palestinian lands. They accuse Israel of the same Apartheid that took place in South Africa. Let me ask you this, Mr. Waters - were the South African blacks backed by another country that was bent on the total destruction of the south African whites? Did they receive thousands of soviet-made missiles to fire upon their south African white counterparts? If not, how on Earth can you have the gall to attempt to make that connection, that comparison? To coin a title of one of your band's earlier songs - it's "Apples and Oranges."
Mr. Waters then goes a step further and compares Israel to Nazi Germany - not just a slap in the face - but a spit in the face. And this is from the "King of Empathy" who wrote so many songs about human empathy on Dark Side of The Moon? This man is a self-aggrandising hypocrite who thinks that writing some hit songs gives him the privilege of running his mouth and weighing in on matters he knows nothing of - that he's now some kind of expert on the human condition who doesn't have to do any due diligence or research - doesn't have to take both sides into consideration - That by writing his songs, it makes him important and relevant and that people will listen to him and he can arrogantly insert himself into the world dialogue in his vain attempt to shape it to his liking in his image.
By arguing for an Israeli boycott, Roger Waters proves he's nothing but a blowhard who loves to hear himself pontificate even when he's on the wrong side. His arrogant overly verbose nature can be easily seen in the Pink Floyd movie, "Live at Pompeii." He is ignorant of the Israeli prediciment that continues to weave itself deeply into Jewish life the world over. And he proves what an insensitive arrogant antisemetic boob he really is.
Mr Waters - why don't you and your BDS organization use some of that influence and spend some of your funding and time campaigning the Palestinians on how they should stop accepting monies from Iran and stop firing their missiles into Israeli cities and stop digging tunnels into Israel so they can pop up and ambush and murder unsuspecting Israeli civilians?
Why is it all Israel's fault?
Don't you and the Palestinians realize that when the Palestinians dismantle Hamas and Hezbollah, accept and recognize Israel's right to exist, and lay down their sword that they've held at Israel's throat since its creation in 1948, the occupation will end? The Arab states and the Palestinians have had opportunity after opportunity to wipe Israel off the map in countless wars after wars - wars that weren't started by Israel - 1948 war - 1956 war - 1967 war - 1973 war - 1982 war, etc. they even attacked Israel on Yom Kippur - the holiest holiday for Jews, when Jews all over the world are fasting and atoning for sins. Attacked and bombed. And yet - Israel persevered. Like it has done for centuries.
So I say this to Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, all their Palestinian friends, and anyone else bent on Israel's destruction: despite all your efforts to the contrary, Israel is going nowhere. And until such a time when Israel's many enemies lay down their swords, Israel and the Jewish people have every right to defend themselves and defend their right to survive and exist. To do whatever it takes to persevere in the face of total annihilation, as they have done for millennia.
P.S. I'll never purchase another Pink Floyd product again. I suggest everyone do the same and boycott the band.

The Palestinians weren't consulted about the creation of Israel. It was imposed on them and effectively was an invasion and continues to be so. The settlements, which have made a two state solution impossible, have nothing to do with Hamas, which only runs Gaza and was not created until 1987. The problem with the creation of the Zionist state was that there were already people living there. Since then the Palestinians have lost more and more land. A Palestinian family goes on holiday and finds a Jewish family living in their home, and the Israeli courts find in the Jewish family's favor. Palestinians have to put up with restrictions on their movements and check points. Gaza is a concentration camp, with Israel controlling its borders and sea coast.
Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Israeli's own major human rights organization, B'Tselem, have designated Israel an apartheid state. When Desmond Tutu visited the West Bank and Gaza Strip he said the way the Israelis treat the Palestinians was WORSE than the way white South Africans treated blacks under apartheid. Even David Cameron, the then Conservative British PM, described Gaza as a prison camp. As for the "antisemitism" nonsense, there are plenty of anti Zionist Jews, including some famous ones such as Miriam Margoyles, Alexie Sayle, and the historian (now deceased) Tony Judt, whose book of essays, which I have, documents his gradual disillusionment with Zionism. If you are going to equate anti Zionism with antisemitism you put yourself in the bizarre situation of labeling Jews as antisemitic. If anything, YOU are antisemitic, as you are reducing all Jews with the apartheid state.
