This Celtics team has no weakness that you can exploit like the other teams the Mavs faced in the postseason. The only way the Mavs win is if Luka AND KYRIE are at their absolute best….
That's the thing, the margin for error is so much smaller for Dallas. Boston can play a sloppy game, their stars can have mediocre performances, and they still give themselves a chance. The only way Dallas grabs a dub is if they play a damn near perfect game, and that means Luka and Kyrie going simultaneously nuclear if this is the most they're going to get out of their roleplayers.
Not a single one of you criticizing Tatum are actually paying attention to the games. Tatum is doing what Kyrie should be doing by default if he doesn't have it offensively that night. He's doubling down on defense, getting assists, and guarding in the post to get rebounds. He's facilitating and drawing double sometimes triple coverage to open it up for his teammates. Unselfish play. Kyrie can absolutely facilitate, he just doesn't.
This was the game the Mavs needed. Celtics always give one away and this one was it, just like Game1 vs. Indy. Celtics' shooting gave you your chance, you didn't take it, now we shut the door. Hey, you know Boston hasn't lost on the road in the playoffs!? Celtics in 4. Sweep!!!!
I get what u mean by Tatum and brown don’t have to what Luka and Kyrie have to offensively but you are literally losing the series because you don’t have a prayer of staying infront of those two guys and they’re playing defense
I thought I’d be happy they made it this far after considering the expectations entering the season, but watching them lose a winnable game tonight was hella frustrating. I’m sure people will come to his defense, but Kyrie needs to do some soul searching. Sure, they’re playing him 1 on 1 well, but dude is like 0-8 from 3 and he’s missing shots when he does get open. Luka played well on offense, but that last JB layup that essentially iced the game he stood under the rim and watched. He could have at least put a hard foul on him, try to take a charge, try to…. I don’t know, CONTEST!?! Nope. He just conceded a layup up that iced the game. Pathetic.
Just know that u are gonna look back at this run incredibly fondly even if we lose. Every playoff team in the league’s season ends with sadness besides one.

I just see them not being aggressive going after lose balls, making crucial mental mistakes and just not playing like they want it bad enough. Kind of my call back to the Luka effort on the JB layup…
On a bird's eye view, the real problem for the Mavs against the Celtics is the huge talent gap. Tatum - All star, All NBA Brown - All star, All NBA Tingus Pingus - All star White - All defensive Holiday - All star, All defensive Luka - All star, All NBA Kyrie - All star, All NBA Role players from Boston are worth $30M on other teams while our role players are good, but cannot create shot or make plays on their own. Kidd has maximized this roster. We are just simply not enough against this powerhouse of a team. I can see us winning 1 game but that's it.
You can't believe it? This series has been the 11th and 12th consecutive Kyrie stinkers against Boston. If you could've predicted anything, it would've been this.
Kyrie isn't a main centerpiece to the team's offense. His scoring is a tell of two stories. He went 7-18 out there with 6 assists which isn't bad. Some of it is because the Defense is forcing him to pass. He got jitters out there but it isn't as bad as people are making it seem as he is only missing 3s. That's the bottom line as he is missing 3s but that is a rhythm thing.
Boston has clear mental lapses each game where they settle for jump shots late in the shot clock. Dallas needs to up the intensity when that happens, especially in terms of rebounding.
The only positive about Kyrie is that he hasn’t stopped shooting. At the very least he still has some confidence. If the crowd is actually getting him off his game as a 10+ year vet then that’s honestly pathetic. Kyrie has been ridiculed most of his career and has to be able to not let boo’s get him off his game
I mean let’s just be real, the Celtics have constantly been a better team than the Mavs. Everytime they’ve beaten us in the regular season it’s never looked close, it always looked like the Celtics beating a team they’re supposed to beat. In this series the mavs look like they’re working so hard on both ends while the Celtics look like everything they do is effortless for them. We’re just outclassed man. I’m not saying we can’t win cause I’ll always have faith in Luka’s ability to carry a team, but the series is over let’s be real.
Kyrie is the KAT of this series. There were so many lob opportunities that Luka & Kyrie blew and instead dribbled into double teams & turned it over. Sometimes they even ran into Lively or other guys at the rim instead of lobbing it up for a score or a foul
His defense is literally killing us. You guys focus too much on those 30 points. How many points are we giving up just cause he can't put any resistance on penetration or rotation?
The coaching staff aka Kidd is going to have to do what they haven’t done all year and draw up actual plays (good luck) for Kyrie. ISO ain’t working he’s to small.
I've been stalking Denver content creators throughout the season: If 80% of your All-World superstar's team success depends on a point guard basically being an uber efficient Kobe? You've got a problem.
A third scorer is what Mavs needs if Kyrie or Luka struggles. Celtics are so deep anyone of their stars can have a bad night and they still have someone else to make up for it.
The Celtics are just too deep. They play defense extremely well and on any given night, 5+ guys can go off and score 25. Hence, there's ultimately no pressure on Tatum and Brown because, Holiday, Porzingis, White...can easily step up. Gawd forbid Hauser or even Pritchard has a good game as well. Luka can only do so much and so far, he has no help. The truly scary thing is that the Celtics play better on the road than at home. I'd argue that , aside from parts in the first half of game one, the Celtics offense really hasn't gone off yet.
Good for Kidd to get Gaff involved in the 2nd half. Kudos to Luka for being a warrior and delivering despite being banged up. We are not a good free throw shhoting team and tonight it really mattered. Boston is really good.
I've been screaming to play Gafford when everyone's been doubting... I hope Kidd realized how important Gaff will be and pumps up those minutes and for the love of god, STOP PLAYING MAXI over having no bigs. We have to have Lively or Gaff out their all the time and honestly, i would throw Powel out their over MAXI at this point if Gaff and lively need a couple minute breather! Sorry if you like MAXI and nothing against him, but check the box scores... play Hardy, Exum, but MAXI is clearly scared to shoot
A problem is using maxi is not an option with the way they’re playing. Maxi does not stretch the floor because there’s a 2% chance he’ll ever shoot the ball so they can easily help off of him. There’s about an even chance of either big taking a wide open 3 as Maxi doing it

I've also been telling people all year that still having Porzingis would be way better than having Kyrie.

Full disclosure: I've been a Celtics fan since 1960; have been listening to your podcast recently to get a contrary view of the Finals from what i can get here in New England. You guys have a great show. Regarding the drowd's "Kyrie sucks" chants, I know you guys have been saying what a solid citizen he's been for the Mavs. However, Cettic fans have seen Kyrie stomp on the leprechaun at half court, flip off the crowd, and generally be a disruptive distraction on the team. I think he brought any reaction of the Boston crowd to him onto himself. i also think he's now 0-12 against Boston sicne leaving the C's. Call it the basketll gods, bad karma, or bad juju.
Sorry but Celtics shot 39% from 3 this season. They shot 25% from 3 tonight. This was the game you guys should’ve won because I don’t think we will shoot that bad again. Celtics in 4 or 5🍀🍀
@@viscount8388Celtics have a huge margin for error here, the Mavs have two good players (maybe one?). The Mavs have zero margin, if the Mavs can’t win this game then they can’t win anything here
Another game where I thought Luka played well and did everything he could, he won't get assists if the players don't hit the shots. I wanted him to take go for more shots in both game 1 and 2, but with his injuries and the push for trusting teammates and all that, it makes a lot of sense. With Luka's injuries potentially being worse and Kyrie and most role players mental crashed. If they don't have a massive increase in performance the next two games, I don't see how they can win. It has been an impressive run, so they should be proud, but I expect much more from them than this.
On that play where PJ got blocked it was definitely a foul, but I thought we were definitely going to go for a pull up three right there down by five instead of going for the easy two and we still blew it
The real problem here is not the offense. Yea we're missing open shots but we literally can't put any resistance on penetration and it's killing our defense. Even if Luka is able to score 50, 50 more points will be given to boston cause of defensive breakdowns and not being able to stay in front of the boston players or rotate effectively. Focus should be on what are we gonna do to contain the ball, stay in front of your man... then the offense will come. If luka wants to be compared to enter goat comparison when it's all set and done, that defense is not gonna cut it. And his turnovers are really the worse because they always lead to transition basket...I'll just assume he's injured and can't move, we'll see if there is improvement next season on that end because it's impossible for us to beat this team if brown, tatum keep hunting down Luka and penetrating at will. Now to offset that, kyrie gotta drop 30 plus which he seems incapable of doing against this team, he needs to look himself in a mirror and have some pride.. do better. Our centers have disappeared can't even dominate the glass...role players can't make an open 3 to save their lives. Pray for the next game cause it's do or die, it's possible to recover from 3-1 as we saw in 2016 but going down 0-3 will be a wrap, next game is our season.
Wow. While I agree Irving needs to start hitting more shots--Nick Anglostadt once again shows his inner disdain for Kyrie and unrestrained, extreme bias for Doncic. Last I checked: 1. Luka finished 3rd in mvp voting. Why is he sitting at 12 assists and 12 turnovers; mostly throwing the ball away over his shoulder, behind the back in the 4th, staring down his recipient so Cs defenders can intercept like he's Romo or Prescott? Why is he going 6/13 on FREE throws? 2. Doncic is 25 years old and 6'7". He has the youth and size to make an impact on defense instead of watching Cs players whip right by him. 3. Why is Doncic so injury prone? Conditioning. Imagine 2020 or 2021 version of Luka in these finals. He'd light the Cs ablaze. But we, MFFLs, get an injured Doncic instead. 4. While Kyrie and co. carried Doncic vs the clippers and early in the 2nd round--you didn't hear anywhere near the scathing criticism against him from Nick Anglostadt. His utter, extreme bias for Luka is bizarre...are yall distant cousins/relatives? 5. Kyrie is 6'1" going up against way, way taller, younger and athletic, well-coached Cs defenders. Luka and PJW are 6'7" and much younger. Perpetual David vs Goliath scenario for 6'1" Kyrie. 6. Luka dribbles the air out of the ball then dishes out with 4 seconds left. The ball has energy. Zero plays drawn for the 6'1" Irving. Both need to change. Islamophobic Nick once again exposes himself with his inner hatred for Kyrie Irving. Earlier he kept calling for coach Kidd's job utterly cringe. Dude is totally incapable of being objective. Nick also likely never played competitive basketball. Just a reactionary conservative talking head.
I think(if we set aside not so good KI games) especially younger players are a bit intimidated. Gatford going for layups instead dunking, some brute force rebounds that were trade mark of mavs after trade. Everybody is scared of shooting open sshots, running to the packed rim…i don’t know. Also i think some communication broke down. That lost ball where Luka was attacked from behind, he could have been warned
Look like there are only 3-4 players on the team that actually playing to win.. and Kyrie, the veteran that been in this position is the main one not acting like it.. the Celtics are just looking superior all around
I don’t like the kyrie slander when he is cooking you guys glaze Luka gets beat every time then gives up on the play it happens at the worst moments like this is the finals where is the urgency from the star
I called everyone out in doubting Gafford... I went at Kidd for benching Gaff with only 14 minutes in game 1 and playing MAXI 20 minutes..., i went at Locked On Mavericks for what he said about Gaff and all the doubt..... Gafford, Luka and PJ are the only ones that have showed up game 1 and 2! I think Kidd realized that by the end of the game so i hope we now have it all figured out besides Kyrie hitting shots and Luka with those bad passes / turnovers
As much as Luka is carrying the Mavs. He has some questionable plays. A lot of times he is just watching resulting to offensive rebounds and second chance points. I've seen a couple of plays where there 5 point swings. Aside from his untimely turnovers which destroyed the Mavs momentum a lot of times. also shooting 6/26 three pointers and miss 8 free throws. wont cut it. Losing only 7 points this game is painful.
If Kyrie can refocus at home and you take game three then that really opens things up. I wonder what the reception will be for KP, I don't think he has embraced a potential antagonistic viewpoint against the Mavs or Dallas. I assume the gripe against him is that he admitted to not completely embracing his role in 21 playoffs because of resentment with the way he was being played.
We are in the finals you might as well give it your all by leaving everything out there on the floor! Let D LIVE SHOOT SOME 3’s to space the floor there is no trust from the coaching staff they keeping Daniel and D live in the paint making them one trick ponies when they display in practice that they can shoot the 3 ball . Our rotation on defense is trash Luka is not engaging on defensive. Not playing THJ IS CRAZY. Not playing morris is crazy just letting people ride the bench is wild to me. No real production on our role players missing shots.
It’s not over yet, but looking to free agency this summer, who could we possibly add to help fill some of these shooting woes? I’m sure it’s going to have to be a trade. Are we as a team stuck when it comes to adding a third star?
Forced to play zone vs a great 3 point shooting team in the finals because you have to cover for two stars and you thinking about adding another one? The good news is, that was already tested, just look how the Suns did
Luka is a great offensive player but he’s brutal at the other end. I realize he’s got some injuries but he’s always been a liability on defense and it makes it really hard to consider him one of the game’s greatest players when he’s so bad. The Celtics abused him whenever they wanted to.
So Curry was never one of the greatest players? And if both sides are important then Tatum is also not one of the greatest players because he cant score
@@Edd_LShore The Tatum comment is asinine. He’s had a couple of bad shooting nights and he’s drawing two defenders every time he touches the ball. Tatum has his limitations too but he does other things like defend, pass and rebound. Curry is not the liability on defense that Luka is. Every Celtic has their way with him whenever they want to. It’s embarrassing.
@@BaBa-ep2vs Ok forget Curry. Jokic then. Isnt Jokic a great player cause he plays zero defense? Are you really going to make the case for Jokic being not a great player because of the defense? 😂😂😂😂😂
He definitely has to do better but if you told me Celtics would score less than 110 points in both games. I would of thought the series would be tied 1-1 at least. The offensive struggles pertaining to everyone outside of Luka I feel is more of an issue.
Even as a Mavs fan I am jealous of how great of a basketball city Boston truly is. Even looking past this series, it is something to aspire towards. Think about it. They yelled "Kryie sucks" every time he had the ball, I don't ever see Mavs fans at AAC ever doing that to ANY player.
Celtics have a weakness in Tatum.
@@pyrowastaken Y'all should definitely go ahead and put that theory to the test
Tatum, KP and Horford turned Lively into a complete amateur who looks like he never played bball.

Role players from Boston are worth $30M on other teams while our role players are good, but cannot create shot or make plays on their own. Kidd has maximized this roster. We are just simply not enough against this powerhouse of a team. I can see us winning 1 game but that's it.
I really can’t believe that Kyrie lets the crowd get to him like that. That would be gasoline to Luka’s fire
He's cursed for messing with Lucky the Leprechaun.
It’s pathetic. He has to be more mentally tough. Can’t let boo’s effect you this much at this level
You can't believe it? This series has been the 11th and 12th consecutive Kyrie stinkers against Boston. If you could've predicted anything, it would've been this.
Mentally weak
Kyrie isn't a main centerpiece to the team's offense.
His scoring is a tell of two stories. He went 7-18 out there with 6 assists which isn't bad. Some of it is because the Defense is forcing him to pass. He got jitters out there but it isn't as bad as people are making it seem as he is only missing 3s. That's the bottom line as he is missing 3s but that is a rhythm thing.
Boston has clear mental lapses each game where they settle for jump shots late in the shot clock. Dallas needs to up the intensity when that happens, especially in terms of rebounding.
So much for that mental lapses huh? 😏🍑👋🏽😂😂😂 4-0 ☘️🧹🧹🧹🧹

I mean let’s just be real, the Celtics have constantly been a better team than the Mavs. Everytime they’ve beaten us in the regular season it’s never looked close, it always looked like the Celtics beating a team they’re supposed to beat.

There’s about an even chance of either big taking a wide open 3 as Maxi doing it
You guys were supposed to make feel better 😭

Another game where I thought Luka played well and did everything he could, he won't get assists if the players don't hit the shots. I wanted him to take go for more shots in both game 1 and 2, but with his injuries and the push for trusting teammates and all that, it makes a lot of sense.
With Luka's injuries potentially being worse and Kyrie and most role players mental crashed. If they don't have a massive increase in performance the next two games, I don't see how they can win. It has been an impressive run, so they should be proud, but I expect much more from them than this.
On that play where PJ got blocked it was definitely a foul, but I thought we were definitely going to go for a pull up three right there down by five instead of going for the easy two and we still blew it
Kyrie and Luka arent even speed bumps on defense when going against a team that goes 6 deep
I’ve been saying this since the Kyrie trade. Everyone who has been dependent upon Kyrie has eventually been disappointed.
I mean, they’re in the NBA Finals.
I’m rocking with my Mavs
Wow. While I agree Irving needs to start hitting more shots--Nick Anglostadt once again shows his inner disdain for Kyrie and unrestrained, extreme bias for Doncic. Last I checked:
