Modern Baseball is my favourite band of all time. No band has ever influenced or affected me in the same way that Brendan, Jake, Ian and Sean did. Brendan's unflinching honesty within his lyrics helped me come to terms with my own flaws and vulnerabilities. Jake's complex and deep lyrics are so inspiring as a writer, and the personalities of both Ian and Sean make this band absolutely perfect.

I kinda wish I knew you in real life. It's really tough to find friends I can talk about music with like this, let alone go into an in-depth discussion on Modern Baseball. These two videos so far have hit me like no other music album review videoes has done to me. You present a discussion about Modern Baseball that makes me feel happy in the inside, knowing there is someone who cares about bands like Modern Baseball as much as I do. Although that may sound kinda selfish (probably is, idk I word things weird sometimes), but I am just glad there are people who care about bands in this way as much as I do. In this case though, you clearly show more dedication than I ever could. I wish I can like the video more than once.

Holy Ghost is and will always be my favorite album. So much more mature than the other two, and much stronger emotionally. The paired documentary really shows a lot too. It's honestly criminally underrated how little that album gets compared to the other two. But it's a lot easier to understand not enjoying it as much when you can't relate to the lyrical content as much. But if you can relate to holy ghost, then it's a whole different experience and I'm sorry you're going through that.

when i first got into mobo i wasn’t huge on them but they had some songs i really liked which led me to periodically find all of the songs on this album at different points in my life cause i never listened to it all at once which makes every song mean something different to me and takes me back to a different point in my life and it just makes this one of my favorite albums ever and gives me a really warm feeling about the memories i’ve made growing up.

I actually began listening to MoBo for real a couple months ago (yes I'm late for the party I know) and I feel like they are the band that I have needed since my adolescence and didn't know about. I live very far away from the USA (Brasil) and so it's music that we have to actively search the internet to find, it's not really a part of our reality. And god, I wish I had found them sooner. They talk about everything that I sometimes feel, and do so in such a honest, true and simple way, it makes life feel easier. Shoutout to everyone who still keeps them in their hearts!!

So many memories with this album. My best friend and I had managed to get tickets to the Greatest Generation Tour, one of the shows in March, and YGMiA came out just a month before, and I remember blasting this album on the way to the show. I remember singing Rock Bottom in the pit, and everyone screaming “whatever forever” as loud as they possibly could.
I think one of the greatest strengths about the album is how a lot of the songs are both catchy and simple. Fine Great, Rock Bottom, Apartment, Your Graduation... all of them were fairly simple chord songs, but they were so catchy and fun to play. I have a ton of memories of my old band just sitting around when someone would pick up a guitar, play a few chords, and we’d all be singing the song together after a couple seconds. You’re Gonna Miss It All is one of my favorite records of all time, thanks for making an incredible video about it. Lots of love for this channel

  • @-MVP-
    @-MVP- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey Nate! I just discovered your channel, and you're MoBo content is amazing!
But, you actually forgot one notable thing about Rock Bottom...
The line: "I'VE GOT SO MUCH TO DO, but its okay 'cause whatever, forever"
is a direct callback to this line from Coals: "You wanna join me for dinner? Man I'VE GOT SO MUCH TO DO!"

Do you listen to Sorority Noise? I’m a relatively new subscriber & haven’t heard you mention them yet. I saw them as an opening act with The Menzingers & Bayside. I absolutely LOVE The Menzingers, but they sounded so dull & lackluster because Sorority Noise played the best opening set I’ve ever experienced.
I had never heard of Sorority Noise before, but I became obsessed. I’ve never once seen an opening act that gave me goosebumps & made my heart burst. They have songs about the normal things - depression, anxiety, & relationships, but the thing that got my attention immediately was the lead singer’s candidness about his struggles with drug use & addiction. I am a recovering heroin addict (just celebrated 11 years!), and I haven’t really come across this. People allude to using drugs, but Sorority Noise has a song that begins with “I started using again...”
It was exactly what I needed at that moment in time. I was struggling with the news of an ex recently relapsing - a guy that I had loved very much, but we weren’t close anymore.
After the show I got on Facebook to message Scott (my ex). We hadn’t spoken in almost 2 years at that point, and I saw that I had missed the last message he sent me - and it was a link to Sorority Noise’s song Black Heart, Black Lungs. Apparently he had seen them open up for the Hotelier, and the song made him think of me. I reached out to him, but I was in another relationship. My boyfriend wasn’t that fond of Scott (for valid reasons), and Scott didn’t want to talk to me because I had chosen to be with my boyfriend and not him.
He ended up overdosing last October, and it has crushed me. I still think of him daily, and music has been impossibly hard to listen to. Fast forward to this past July, I lost my best friend to an overdose. Now I can’t listen to anything without losing my shit.
I never imagined living a life without music, but I can’t listen to music without crying. Literally any music. Sometimes it’s cathartic to cry, but it’s not cool showing up to work or the grocery store with swollen, bloodshot eyes & black streaks running down my cheeks.
Sorry for the word vomit. But I love your channel. Thanks for making me think about music again. I’ve been making lists of bands you mention that I haven’t heard before. Scott & Brent were my music buddies. We had similar tastes & really connected with music. I haven’t been brave enough to listen to anything yet - my brain associates music with pain. It doesn’t really matter what the lyrics are, who sings it, or what genre it is. Hopefully I work through it one day.

Music has been such a big part of my life. I never expected to live a life without music. I thought I would be taking my son to shows as he grew up. Man I remember the greatest generation tour. We were the first stop on the tour and it happened almost exactly a year from the wonder years last show near me in 2013. The difference in who I was between the 2013 show and the 2014 show was sort of something I didn't deal with well because my life had gotten really dark in that time frame, and I was already sad to begin with.
I say all this because for that one night I had a room full of friends. Grabbing random strangers while we all yelled sad songs and hugged and put our arms around eachother. That generation of "sadboy" pop punk really was the last time I felt whole and even though alot of these bands still exist from the scene it's not the same any more. Everyone is so divided nowadays and every band needs to make some type of political statement or needs to drive home the fact that they're a bigger band now and put on some massive theatrical bullshit that us as sad mid-20s whatevers cant relate to anymore. Shows still feel alright, but theyll never be how they were in the 2012 to 2014 era and that makes me sad.

    • @scroop7416

Well it's not how they wrote it, but it's how what they wrote is a pop punk masterpiece
