- As part of NJ TRANSIT’s Safety Education Program, our team educates all public, private and charter schools (Grade Pre-K through 12) and community groups through complimentary “Safety Rules!” presentations. One component of this presentation is an updated video shown to middle and high school students focusing on the dangers of trespassing on railroad tracks and the need for caution & safe behavior around tracks and trains. Check out the trailer for the “Chicken on the Tracks” video.
Back in ‘95 a childhood friend did this on train tracks in Albany NY. Luckily he didn’t die, but at 9 his legs were completely amputated After his shoe laces got caught on a track screw and was stuck.
2 months later his eldest brother died at a creek after swinging on a rope Into the water on a deep end and couldn’t swim. He was just about to graduate elementary school 5 weeks prior.
Its the hard knock life, for us.

not 80s unfortunately (the trains are pretty new in the video), even though it feels that way.

Everything wrong with chicken on the tracks. First of all, what kind of police department would waste there time riding a train with 2 kids who felt it Nessisary to enjoy staying on the tracks for an incoming train. Second of all, why is the police officer pointing to the soccer field. What can a soccer field do to warn you, let alone save you from an incoming train. Third. Doesn't it look like someone died. There are fricken detectives. What are they looking for. DNA prints of the god damn train. Fourth, this happens a lot on NJ TRANSIT lines. So every time one person goes too close to the train they have to bring that guy on a train and point out soccer fields. Last of all. Most people don't even care about or even want to go near tracks. Seeing this video just makes people want to go on the tracks on purpose. Summary "humans who believe they should be a train and are in the wrong body"
The police officer was just pointing out the scenery to the kids.
I watched the movie the officer was off duty and he was just pointing out scenery and they went for a train ride one of his friends was a nj transit engineer who took them on a ride and those same kids threw rocks at the train and hit the engineer beforehand

Does NJ Transit have the 80s'/90's version for upload? It was a bit more graphic that taught an entire generation of New Jersians to look both ways and not play on the tracks.
You mean the one where the 2 kids were struck by the train and then the endinf shows body bags being carried and the other kids in shock? The one where i was so traumatized i had to cover eyes and look down in fear?
@@EternalEmperorofZakuul they literally showed this to us in 2014, we were 5th graders quiet in the auditorium then when we got back to class we discussed how they had 4 or 5 body bags meaning their bodies were ripped apart.

there was a old movie that I watched in school about these kids playing on the tracks and then at the end 2 of them got killed by the nj transit does anyone know the name of the movie?

Could you guys upload the original PSA from the 80’s? It’s considered lost media and a lot of people are looking for it!
Does anyone have any idea as to the status of the original 80s version of this film? I recall seeing it as recently as a school presentation in 2014, and have been trying to find it online since, to no avail. I've seen some people argue that it's lost media, and I almost wonder if that's the case.

Very important to show these kids that the danger is real.
NJ Transit trains have killed many kids over the last twenty years.

@@MechanicalShockwaveBow They do, NJT isn't really a railroad but a transit company that uses rails to transport commuters, UP, is a freight railroad. (note anybody talking about trains with C45AH in their name is a stupid railfanner)
Comparing a rail freight company to a transit company which also operates buses and trams seems unfair
