I appreciate how much fun these guys had with chapter 3. Most people think all third chapters are the game's low point, and I admit I found it super frustrating because the murder's motive and plan made little logical sense, even if that was partly the point. But, these two saw a crazy man, gave him a funny voice, and kept the jokes coming no matter how creepy he got. They really made chapter three their own, even when most would disown this chapter. Greatly looking forward to chapter 4. That's going to be something.
@@onemoment6769 Well, if Chapter 3 was the least interesting in the game and it only gets better from here, then I'm really looking forward to the next one, because I was already invested in this series. I know I made a long statement about the motive of Chapter 3 being barely worthy of being called a motive because the culprit didn't even care about it (they didn't even kill the victim because they were against using the ritual or so that they could take the Necronomicon and use it themselves), but maybe that's not a bad thing; the writer might have done it like this to make this case feel a little more realistic, as if actually involving ghosts and dead characters was a little too much
I'm glad they were able to have a good time with it. I think that personally what had made all the 3rd chapters in danganronpa games so frustrating/annoying was how the culprit is always so obvious before the trial even begins. I mean, I understand that writing a double-murder does make it a bit hard to feasibly write it so that everyone had an opportunity for both deaths. But still, just kinda takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. Chapter 3 in the first game was the only time Celeste was ever actually involved in an investigation, so it had to be her. In the second game, literally Mikan was the only one with actual access to Ibuki. And in this game, dude literally went "hey, I know one of us is a killer, but how about you all go into a dark room with me and we just see what happens" (and like Celeste, it was the first time Korekiyo was even actually present in an investigation). It not like these made the games unfun for me. But, with how long the chapters are, it can be annoying to sit through a chapter just waiting for the story to catch up to what you already know to be obvious.
It certainly has logical flaws, but on a thematic level it's the best one so far. It's basically hitting you over the head with "finding the truth has intrinsic merit in and of itself" until you get it (I mean the only reason they can incriminate Kiyo is because they solved *both* murders). Which is probably for the best since it's clear many people don't.
Considering what they liked about the murder plot was how it was more-so grounded in its logic, I have a feeling they might have some frustrations with the next chapter and the simulation.
When I played V3, I got max friendship with Miu by this point, which basically entails romancing her and ends with you two agreeing to go on a real date if you get out of there. And then chapter 3 happened, and her actions in chapter 3 paint a HILARIOUS picture within that context. Particularly the stuff where she's talking about your "dead girlfriend" and "doll fetish" during the investigation. Honestly the hardest I've laughed in the whole game.
Here's my favorite moments in Chapter 3 😄 - Literally all of Miu's appearances ( especially during the class trial lmao ) in Chapter 3 - Their reaction of the relationship of Korekiyo's "love" - The short American Psycho Business Card bit during the block puzzle mini game. - Their affirmed disappointment that Kokichi is still alive lmao.
I love that the one of the only bits in this game that works for them (in the way the game intended) is Monophanie vomiting. I hate any sort of throwing up but the sound they make to imitate her really gets me.
Also major spoilers: By the end it will be equal again, since dan has Shuichi and arin has maki and himiko Also in chapter 6 things will be mostly equal as arin has 3 survivors and dan has 2 Chapter 5 will just be unequal cuz arin will have 5 characters + monokuma and dan will only have 2
I loved watching the boys playing this chapter because I love Korekiyo so much. He's an interesting character if you look into his lore deeper than the surface-level stuff but I also love how much you can make fun of him
2:48 That plot point really was relevant, huh? Poor Monokubs did nothing much with the little time they had when they were in control before Monokuma took over again. That's a shame. It would have made those characters look a little more interesting
[Spoilers for the end of the trial I guess] When korikio said "it was for the one I love" or whatever he said, my brain imidiantly thought "wouldn't it be crazy if mikans (the nurse from the second game) beloved was korikio". That would make it to were the killers in chapter 3 from this game and the previous long lost lovers and that would have been crazy.
17:22 Every Miu fan in the room right now: "It should have been ME! IT'S NOT FAIR!!!" 31:59 And by the way, by the end of Chapter 3 it's still unclear how the resurrection ritual was meant to be a trap. If we see motives as literal motivations for the culprit, actual reasons for any of the remaining culprits to kill someone... Nah, I don't think it actually counts. I'm not complaining; it's good that nobody took the bait for once, but they clearly didn't explain where the catch was. Nobody needed to kill anyone to perform the ritual and use the book in any capacity. Even though that would have made for an interesting plot point; imagine if someone like Ryoma realized that somebody gave their own life so that he could have a second chance at life even though he felt like he had no reason to live. However, back to my actual point: the culprit really didn't care about the necronomicon. But at least nobody wasted it on any of the Monokubs.
As a random theory I had, the necronomicon could've been a point of contention for people to choose who to bring back. Since the flashback light was broken by Angie, we don't know what was the regained memory from it. However, it may have been a memory from before the killing game that showed each person a fun/positive memory they had with one of the dead students to inspire them to want that person back. Let's say Shuichi goes insane due to a regained memory of him and Kaede on a date before this all started and hears he can bring her back to life. The group said they wanted to bring back Rantaro since he was "the only one who wasn't a known killer" of those four (Kaede/Kirumi are blackened culprits and Ryoma killed the mafia people before the killing game), so maybe Shuichi decides to take the necronomicon for himself, any means necessary (kinda like Alter Ego from the first game) and would kill to have her back. Not saying that would likely happen, but I'd imagine that the mastermind had this outcome in mind. Also it could just be a point of despair since it likely wouldn't work in the first place lmao
@pandaplayr73 Yes, the potential was there. It could have worked as a motive in a similar way (kind of like the motive videos when you think of the flashback light) if it hadn't failed. By the way, I'm not disappointed that the ritual didn't work as a motive. Maybe it was just a sign of how the Monokubs aren't that good at handling the whole school life thing by themselves and can't make motives work without Monokuma's leadership
This may be a spoiler but... The way the necronomicon was written, my personal theory is that monokuma did actually plan to bring someone back to life in a sense. It's similar to how reality tv shows when they run out of ideas would bring back an old contestant. Anyway, my personal theory is that he was either gonna make a robot like nekomaru or K1BO to be a replica of the person or the more likely thing; use the flashback light to make some new person have the same memmories as a dead person, thus virtually ressurecting them. This would be a huge clue though to how the flashback memmories aren't actually real so maybe thats why they didnt end up doing it.
