It’s one thing to see their names on a monument or read about them in a book. But when you see their faces in a photo that makes them real and you realize that some of those faces gave up their lives fighting for what they believed in. What an amazing Museum. This one really is a gem. ♥️👍
Wow, how neat is all of that! It is really cool to see that there are faces and names to go with the soldiers that fight during the war! It is sure great what you do for us, the artifacts, the pictures, all of the history that you relate to us and show us his bar none the coolest thing ever and we all really appreciate it. Keep it up and there’s always you do a great job with all your videos and documentaries thank you.
Many gave up their lives and technically had no choice. People today don’t understand how people thought about their states of origin back then. Not to mention that the average Joe in the south did not really even have much of a choice after the war started if they were of fighting age back then. I always remember the story of two German immigrants that migrated separately one to NY the other to Georgia and ended up on opposite sides fighting against each other! My great Grandfather fought & died in the Indiana infantry, but I have no illusions if he lived or grew up in the south when the war broke out, he would have probably been fighting on the opposite side.
the north can remember their history but the south cant. kind one sided thats why i dont visit parks in thenorth. i bet no monuments in thenorht are being bulldozed and destroyed southern graves have names to.or do yall remeber the south lost hundreds of thousands of people to.
@randalllemons7479 sadly you are incorrect. Crime minister turdeau is systematically removing Canadian history from schools, shaming long term residents for being successful, removing statues of our early leaders and renaming streets. Does this sound familiar. My sister lives in Virginia and in their town they removed a statue of Robert E Lee. Also renamed a school bearing his name. Strange how people destroy elements and memories that bring tourists dollars in. Unfortunately we both suffer from DEI, CRT and criminal corrupt politicians .
Your Gettysburg work is always top notch. Thanks for giving a voice to those who cant speak, and eyes to those who can't make it to some of these places. 🙏🏿🙏🏿
I was there for the 150th anniversary. Wow is all I can say. My mind was ready to explode from everything I was seeing and learning. To read about the Civil War is one thing. To actually go and experience it.. That is something way cooler.
This is such an outstanding episode. You guys rock. What a fantastic way for the American public and Patriots to come and connect with the faces that changed our country. Just incredible. You guys should all get Freedom Awards.
As a Canadian, I have always been fascinated about the American Civil War. Sir, I thoroughly enjoy the work and heart that you put into your historical story telling. The way you bring the story down to the location and person with artifacts and putting little puzzling details together in such a way that makes me want to learn more. Thank you for all that you do.
Actually the American Civil War was the bloodiest war the USA has ever fought! Over 750,000 soldiers died in that war/ combined total of both North& South! MARYLANDER here/ YANKEE! By the way our beautiful state flag reflects the divisions in Maryland .The black and gold represents the Calvert Family / UNION , the Red& White cross represents the Crossland Family/ CONFEDERATE. The flag was designed to bring both sides together after the Civil War! My mother's family came to the Maryland colony in 1643! Maryland was started by Catholics who fled England in the 1600's. Maryland became a colony in 1634! St. Mary's County! 🤔🤗🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
This is just incredible! When you have a passion for our history and share it with others we will NEVER FORGET! Thank you all for the time you take to share our history so we learn from our mistakes and vow not to repeat them 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Wow...Thank you, Mr Palm, for the time and effort you've put into collecting and organizing those historical gems! And thanks, JD, for highlighting this very cool place!
Now we have a Trifecta for History. JD, Erik and now Ronn! Awesome Job Gentlemen! Great presentation JD, love all the editing, storyline and music you perfectly use for the videos! Great Job and thank you for keeping History alive !!!!
JD, you look like a kid in a candy shop ❤️ I love your heartfelt enthusiasm. Please congratulate Mr. Palm on his beautiful collection. Wonderful episode. Thank you!
J.D.: Seeing the rows upon rows of photos gave me the same revered solemness when I first glimpsed Arlington Cemetery with Mom and Dad. Hope the American Government or someone protects Ronn’s priceless legacy and keep it open indefinitely for future generations to experience. ❤Diane, Vancouver, Canada. SnJN04/23. 11:41 am
Greetings from Oxford UK.....What an amazing collection.....I find it hard to believe that it would b possible to build-up a collection like this....thanks for preserving so many memories
Greetings from London, yes it is an amazing collection. It seems so much more personal and intimate than the Imperial War Museum & The National Army Museum.
Very spectacular informative program, definitely adding Ron Palms Civil War Image museum to the list of to do's and must see! Great show JD with an excellent introductory piece from Erik.
Oh how we wish we could not only see their images but hear their voices! What priceless treasures this museum contains! It is nice to put faces to names. Thank you, JD.
This episode of History Underground was especially captivating. The personal stories you weave within your presentations on historical subjects is beyond comparison JD. You're the best of the best and I can't wait for the next installment so I can discover something new and exciting.
Visited this museum today. If you are in the area, you have to go see it. Ronn is such a wonderful man to talk with. He is sharp as a tack, and willing to answer any of your questions. He actually had a photo of a deceased family member from prior to the war.
WOW! That was extraordinary. What a museum! All my respect to Mr. Palm for his incredible commitment to the history of the Civil War, and particularly for the 'battle' that ultimately defined this great tragic conflict, and a nation. PS- You guys do a wonderful job in all your episodes. Thank-a-million.
Thank you for a Very Interesting Episode! Those pictures just bring tears to my eyes. What a moving tribute to all those Brave men that fought here. I Love your Gettysburg Videos, they are all fatastic , Thank you for taking the time to make these and share them with us JD.
I love that Ron has all these pictures. It’s so interesting and it literally brings history come to life. I’ve said it before but this channel is great and I’ve learned so much. Thank you SO much!
Awesome museum. We went to Gettysburg last summer. I’m completely bummed out that I missed this museum now. We did and seen a lot but missed this one somehow. Seeing all those images is truly mind blowing. I’ve always been Interested in all American history, but the civil war the most! I absolutely hate that many in this generation either no longer know, show no interest or have a distorted or simplified view of history in general.
Promotions happen quickly in wartime. Future lieutenant general Arthur MacArthur, Jr. was a lieutenant colonel at 19. More famously, Armstrong Custer was promoted from captain to brigadier general at 23.
Fascinating. I'm not American but find this period of North American history so interesting. These guys are so knowledgable, dedicated, passionate and good storytellers. This episode really brings a human and actually quite sad element behind the names. Of course all war is sad but civil wars in general where it's neighbour vs neighbour, friend vs friend, brother vs brother, is a concept i'm trying to study more.
Had the privilege of visiting this museum last month and had a wonderful chat with Ron Palm. What a charming man! It was this video that prompted us to go, JD. Thanks!
I've been to Gettysburg twice when I was young..and spent alot of that time at the battlefields with my family..and didnt realize the museums their in town..My return visit I will surely visit those..its been 52 years since I was their..look forward to it. Thank you guys.👍✌👍✌🇺🇸
Unbelievable!!!! Just an absolutely amazing episode, per usual, and very much appreciated taking us along to that phenomenal museum!!! Mind blowing the history and artifacts that are in that building.
I finally made it to visit Ronn Palm’s museum. I live about 3 miles from where Col. Charles Frederick Taylor of the Bucktails grew up. His grave is located in the Longwood Cemetery nearby. I was able to have a nice discussion with Ronn about the Bucktails. Thanks so much for sharing this unique museum with all of us.
Such an amazing video!!! To put faces and names and artifacts to such an important time in history makes it so personal. I agree that this should be taught in schools, a very important piece in our history. Thank you for such wonderful videos and sharing your knowledge.
What I like best about small OLD museum, they're cozy, they're personal and I enjoy the older displays where the little information card is handwritten in cursive with a real ink pen and not a ballpoint pen. Thanks to JD, Erik and Ronn Palm for this fine watch on American History.
Wow. Been to gettysburg literally 30 times or more and live less than an hour away and never knew this images museum was there. I will be chekcikg that out
I worked at the British embassy in Washington DC for a Yr visited Gettysburg plus many other battlefields, wish I knew back then about the Gettysburg museums 👌
Fantastic video and amazing that the museum has so many photos. Ive studied Civil War in books with photos of the Soldiers but that place really brings it to home .
WOW, AMAZING! I must see these museums! Kind Thanks for taking us here in this fantastic photographic historical library! I have a number of Civil War images that I’ll take there and one of my GGGrandfather in his late years. He volunteered for three terms in the Calvary. My Grandfather was supposed to inherited his sword, papers and metals but unfortunately someone else secretly got to them first. He told my Grandfather that he’d run through fire to hand Gen. Grant his sword he’d dropped from his horse and received a metal for his act. I also have an 1862 draft notice from Lebanon County Pa. Thanks Again So Much! DaveyJO in Lancaster Co. Pa.
My great grandfather legrand sponenburg is on the Pennsylvania monument. I have his picture on his horse in full kit. Gettysburg is fabulous in that you can take bus or car tour . A historical guide gets in your car and takes you all through Gettysburg , and tells you all about the battle. It was an incredible experience, profound! The museum is unbelievable. Everywhere you go in Gettysburg the people and shop owners are incredible and want to share information. My ggf survived, a shell landed near him and he was thrown in the back of his saddle, he suffered some persistent numbness, but when he went back home to Columbia co he farmed and lived until 1915. I have his rope bed that was given him in 1856 when he was 16 years old, has come directly down to me.

You should consider contacting public school systems, or better yet, contact the Department of Education in D.C., to make your docs in Civil War history mandatory in the public schools system. God bless...
OMG…I can’t believe I missed this museum and l have been there several times with my son. Kicking myself, my great great grandfather was in the PA Calvary in Gettysburg and I was so happy to find his name.
I recently found an image there of my GGG Grandfather, served in the 53rd Pennsylvania. He was captured in June 1864 near Petersburg and spent 8 months (and survived) at Andersonville Prison. Awesome collection!
I am from Mifflin county, our community sent the Logan guard, some of the first responders. My youngest daughter, was a reenactor at the 150 anniversary. I know we have many family members, on a variety of branches of my family tree. I will have to go, would love the see both museums
Another outstanding episode. I especially like the somber music you chose to accompany this video. Very appropriate. Thank you so much. I always wanted to visit Gettysburg, but unfortunately, illness prevents me. Being able to "be there" through your videos means a lot to me, so thank you again.
Thanks be to those who work hard to put names to faces and faces to names and for trying to tell the stories of these individuals as best they can. We need to be reminded that these individuals are more than just statistics. They were real people with real lives who made real sacrifices, and their stories deserve to be told. God bless the men on both sides, be they Confederates or Yankees, they were all Americans.
I try to get to Gettysburg 3-4 times a year, and study the battle in my free time. I like to think of myself as fairly knowledgeable about the battle and the town, and I legit never heard of this place. Incredible episode. Going to visit next time I'm in town.
Wow, wow, wow thank you Mr Palm!! Awesome museum. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have never been on the east coast. I hate to admit that being 60 years old but it is what it is. But I am adding this to my bucket list visiting these two museums. This is a great channel to learn from I don't watch it often but I am subscriber and everytime I watch your videos I am always impressed. I need to watch these more often and stop falling behind to see these videos. Keep'em coming. Thank you!! ❤
When in Gettysburg my first stop is the Daniel’s brigade marker in back of the Eternal Light Peace Monument on Oak Hill. My ancestor was part of 2nd NC battalion assigned to Junius Daniel which was part of Rodes Division, Ewell’s Corps. Before leaving I walk from the NC monument on Seminary Ridge, across the open fields traveled during Picket’s Charge, cross Emmitsburg Road, up though the Angle, stopping at the 26NC monument!
Loved this episode. The Civil War Images museum was not open when I went to Gettysburg last year. I was very happy to see JD do an episode on the museum. I was floored when he showed a picture of an " Unknown wounded officer" from my home town and state of " Holyoke, Ma. ". Keep up the good work JD. I tell people interested in history about your Channel all the time.
An enormous thanks to Ronn Palm for the amazing collection he has put together and provided to the public! Thanks to your episode I will definitely set aside plenty of time to visit it. In just the brief pans you did of the photos I saw so much that caught my interest. In the flag section your pan went past a color bearer that caught my eye and made me pause the video. It was of a man named Thomas Plunkett of the 21st Massachusetts. I had noticed that his right arm was missing. Then upon closer look I noticed his left arm was missing! I looked up his story. At Fredericksburg a cannon shell burst destroying both arms and wounded him in the chest. He continued clutching the flag with what remained of his arms until another soldier took it. He received the Medal of Honor.
Excellent video, well narrated, superb visuals, etc. I've been to Gettysburg several times and even if I spent a year there, it would still not be enough. I really like the town as well.
I love this channel. It’s so well done. Every. Single. Time. JD is the freakin man for going around the world and presenting history in the way that he does, it just works so well. And Erik is so knowledgeable in many different fields of history and artifacts, great dynamic here!
Been to Gettysburg twice and have not been to either of those museum's. Will make an effort to definitely visit them when I go back. Thanks for highlighting them.
Wow, incredible to not just see their names but images of those men. I, unfortunately, was only able to visit Gettysburg once and I have to admit, I was stunned at the steepness of that terrain they were attacking on such as the lIttle Round Top. I did not get to go to these museums as I went with two sons who were limmited on time. I will recommend that anyone planning to visit this historic town/battlefield to plan at least a week to explore it. I wish I could return for a month or so to visit everything.
Wow! Very cool stuff. This display really humanizes a time that seems so far and removed. This brings it closer. Thanks for pointing this place out JD!
I can't believe I have not been in there. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I started collecting Civil War images a few years ago. He has put together an incredible collection and display.
It’s one thing to see their names on a monument or read about them in a book. But when you see their faces in a photo that makes them real and you realize that some of those faces gave up their lives fighting for what they believed in.

Awesome to see the bucktails represented! I used to re-enact with them when I was in high school!
I hope there is someone that Mr Palm can pass on his knowledge to so that his collection can be enjoyed far into the future.
Seeing the Faces with the Names take things to another level. Much in keeping with your presentations in the Podcasts. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this Museum. And was a outstanding video placing photos with the soldiers at Gettysburg. Thank you JD for sharing this! 💯👊👍
My Great Grandfather was a Confederate soldier....God Bless you for bringing history to life...Vietnam Vet 1968 - 69...
My wife's great grandfather and his three brothers were busy looting with J E B Stuart during Gettysburg.
Thank you J. D. And Eric for a great video. I learn so much from the videos. You should teach history.

That is totally awesome. You would have to spend a week there and still not see everything. That's a must see place. Thank you for sharing

This is a great channel to learn from I don't watch it often but I am subscriber and everytime I watch your videos I am always impressed. I need to watch these more often and stop falling behind to see these videos. Keep'em coming. Thank you!! ❤
Thank you so much! This was beyond amazing and so fabulous that all these pictures and artifacts have been preserved.
This was fantastic, unbelievable footage , thank you sir !!
🙏🏼
Loved this episode. The Civil War Images museum was not open when I went to Gettysburg last year. I was very happy to see JD do an episode on the museum. I was floored when he showed a picture of an " Unknown wounded officer" from my home town and state of " Holyoke, Ma. ". Keep up the good work JD. I tell people interested in history about your Channel all the time.
WOW! This place looks crazy amazing! I have now added to my list of things to do next time I am in Gettysburg!
Wow! When I make my trip to Gettysburg I now know where to spend another day! Thank you.
Great little museum. Amazing at all the images and artifacts in that place. Love little musems like that 👍
Wow, incredible to not just see their names but images of those men.
It would be cool if you’d do a video on the events that happened in Savannah,Ga during the American Civil War. Love your Channel Man
👍🏻
FASCINATING!! Thank you so much for posting this video.
Amazing JD!!! Thank you so much!🇺🇸
Absolutely marvelous video. You guys hit it out the ballpark everytime you show videos. Thanks for sharing respectfully Dave blackburn
Wow! Very cool stuff. This display really humanizes a time that seems so far and removed. This brings it closer. Thanks for pointing this place out JD!
I could spend all day in there looking at each and every face! Amazing
Another museum to visit on my next day off!
Thanks Eric and JD!! You guys just keep adding "must" stops for whenever I finally get around to my bucket list week of touring Gettysburg 😉🤠🤠
👍🏻
Going to Gettysburg for almost 10 years I past this museum all the time, this year I gotta check it out.
This place will be on my list for my annual visit next spring. Thanks!
I can't believe I have not been in there. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I started collecting Civil War images a few years ago. He has put together an incredible collection and display.
