I've done something similar but used spray cans, spraying directly onto the water. One trick is to put a barrier that divides the dip tank into two parts on the surface. One side gets the paint, the other stays clear. Dip through the paint, reach under the barrier, and remove the object out from the clear side. Handy if doing multiple items.
"dr. spliffhead asked about this technique" "So I'm gonna turn this schoolbus into a hippybus" haha, you're the best man Is it possible to give the car a single colourpaintjob before you use the swirltechnique? I think i was some metal shining through, and this could maybe remedy that.
@@Muunbeau And you can't think before responding. Andre was just asking a question out of curiosity, he didn't implied that the video maker should have applied primer to the bus.
@@Muunbeau I think that your english is to bad to understand what people around you say and what they mean, I would advise you to think 10x times before responding to anyone. Your response to me proves that point tenfold. Aslo if you don't want to be bothered by anyone DON'T POST ON PUBLIC FORUM. How about that?
Noice. I met Ken Kesey and got to get on the Further bus for a few minutes. It was pretty cool. At that point tho I think it was a replica. That was some time in the mid-late 90's. Seeing your bus reminded me of that day. Thanks. You should try and make a match box replica of the Further bus.
Could you do bigger scale models. Like o scale box trucks, or ho scale trains? Also, what if you used weathering colors? Do you think that would help create naturalized looking rust marks and what not? I feel like there's a way to possibly perfect a way to help you with weathering doing something like this. Nevertheless, i could see so many possibilities doing this. Do you think you could do this with soft vinyl toys as well?
Have you tried placing a couple of bodies on the bottom of the pail, right side up, prior to adding the paint to the surface of the water? When they would be slowly elevated out of the water, do you think the enamel would adhere to the surface even though it it wet? (I have never done this, but wondering if it might work?)
you stirred the paint too long and the colors muddled. I prefer spray paint into the water directly. No need for thinner and you get less blending of colors. You have to work fast so the paint doesn't "dry" on the water surface. If you undercoat first, then you also don't get holes in the "hydro coat", those areas when the die cast metal is showing through!
This project is screaming out for some custom decal or free hand graffiti work down the side. "Peace and love", "San Francisco or bust", that kind of thing. :) Oh, and tons of flowers! Dang, now I want to get a die-cast VW bus and try this out...

LOVE the swirl effect. Essentially you are tie dying the bus. Stupendous!
Watching your tips videos again, so much useful information.
that's really cool how you made the bus look like it's been weathered for years but I like it
very cool idea making it into a hippy bus, I wonder how it would turn out to use camouflage colors.
Dang... you guessed one of my future uses... lol... it works great as camouflage .
BMoss was thinking the exact same thing. Glad he is thinking along the same lines.
baremetalHW Hello, remember me? I wonder if i could get my orange Nissan Pickup back?
Moss Rods .
Just came across your video....amazing job. I want to try this some time!! Great job!!
Looks really good. Nice job. 👍
Nail artists use the water marbling technique to get tie dye nails. I love the way water marbling works on it!
exactly water marbling and he said ''swirl paint''
that's cool. I've learned applied some of you techniques to my diecast projects, not all have turned out well but hey that's learning. thank you
I wonder if this would work on a white primer coat
Very interesting video! Nice finished result.
I used this method to dip a 1/24th scale model Dodge Ram. Thanks for the tip! Worked great.
Simply ingenious... you left me in awe!
Cool, I have seen this done on other things however doing this on a small scale looks like fun and a good way to get started.
Nice idea and will certainly have to try this at some point soon. Thanks for sharing
Wouldn't the colors look more vivid if you've applied primer to the body before dipping it?
I was wondering this myself
U didn't listen...he said he want it to look old
@@Muunbeau And you can't think before responding. Andre was just asking a question out of curiosity, he didn't implied that the video maker should have applied primer to the bus.
@@Invocated_Agitator u should think. I didn't say he implied anything. U a comment saver or something? Find another comment to bother

Groovy, great job man . I always wondered how it was done
Man, you do amazing work!!
This was so satisfying to watch!
That looks really good
thats a pretty cool idea, nice job
and yes I do think you should do more videos like this cuz it's interesting to know how the paint job is created
Love it. Great job 👍
Far out man! I can dig it! Looks really cool.
That’s cool!!! I’m going to get a truck and dip it in camouflage!!
great work! love your videos!
Awesome technique, thanks!
Looks nice. Thanks for the tip.
Verry cool, i love👌
Nice custom👍
Peace ✌️
It's amazing that you never altered a toy city buses color. I realized it so that city buses, they all totally differ from yellow school buses. 🚌
Amazing!!!!! You are the best!!!!!

that really does look cool
Fantastic! please make further videos.
That is actually pretty cool
Great tips, Thanks for sharing! 👍😃
Do you think doing a white under coat could help brighten the look?
that is freaking awsome!!❣
Pretty sweet, would be cool to do a black w/purple swirl
That was cool as hell.
Very good video!
looks so cool
Props for the hard drive platter turn table.
lol... I get so many comments on that.

Unbelievable once again sir
Really cool. What kind of brown paint did you use for the air brush?
Looks really good...it kind of reminds me of something from the walking dead.
I like how you do water paint on bus and how you age the bus. I think you should do more of that with bigger hot wheels.
I was doing this to model cars back in the 70's with rattle cans and a container of water.
Have you tried placing a couple of bodies on the bottom of the pail, right side up, prior to adding the paint to the surface of the water? When they would be slowly elevated out of the water, do you think the enamel would adhere to the surface even though it it wet? (I have never done this, but wondering if it might work?)
Would this technique also work for the plastic model? Because if it does, I know what color I'm making my Electra 225!
Nathan chiasson-Jones it should.
Now that's smart! One question, what paints do you usually use? Enamel, acrylics or laqcuer? And what brand?
That's really cool
do a Volkswagen T1 custom video love your videos... They are very detailed
Man, this is completely awesome!!! Would this be able to work the same way on a plastic model??
yes
Thank you, will be trying this method soon!

Hello! Nice video, just one question, can you use the paint again once you have added the finner and water?
yes
Where do you find airplane stripper or can I use any stripper? Where can I find tiny screws?
do you use thiner for that colour process
only missing some cool white pinstriping ( peace symbol or so ) - and maybe adding some paper curtains on the inside -- because that was a thing :)
Thank for the idea!👍
Groovy dude!
Looks AWSOME
Can you do some drag car effects on a KOOL kombi
Doing this on my 62 Ford Mustang Concept for sure
2:14 onwards 🔥🔥🔥👍🏼😎 Just like in the Terminator scene
thanks for the tutorial man
Does this work on plastics?
Very good idea...
that is one groovy bus...
What kind of pisnt u use
Testors paint i think
could you make a video on how to fix a dented/crushed hot wheels roof

I wonder how red, white and blue would look. With minimal mixing.
I have a couple rally cars I want to look like it went through dirt can you please make a video on how to do that or something close to it
What would happen if you didn't remove the original paint?
some of the original paint would prob be seen through.

You should paint in the window seals and the trim pieces
hop on the magic school bus
hop on the druggie school bus
Watch Sveta Sanders and other nail artists for even more ideas on this technique!
I’d be tempted to give it a base coat.
It looks like it was made out of dried-up play-doh, but looks great!
Try your best to make a lowrider custom hotwheel
thanks again for your time
you should do a customs collection video
good job
cool bus
Before you added the patina, the bus looked like it was on fire.
All aboard the magic shrooms bus
came here on accident, no regrets!!!
awesome
I dont know what type of hotwheel it is but it would be so kind if you could fix it for me and tell me what it is
Do u sell any cars you do

Peace and love ✌️
