This is the first time TH-cam has recommended this channel to me, despite being subscribed to Man v. Thing for months now... You're telling me Nadia is *real*?
At this point i actually want a crossover movie between all of these Sony characters just to see what it'd be like, as unrealistic as it is that they’d make one. It's Morbius curiosity really.
The scene where the villian dude started making raptor noises made me genuinely laugh out loud, but I can't believe that existed in a movie of this budget. Like, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, tonally Sony has no fucking idea how to even form a solid piece of poop..
I don't understand why they didn't just make a live action Spider Gwen movie? You know... an actually popular character who was just in your super popular animated movies?
I'm pretty sure it has less to do with the state of "the" industry and more to do with the state of industry. I'm pretty sure for example, that if you're going to launder money via piece of "art" it would be more advantageous for a whole host of different reasons if that art were successful.
Remember when they didn't release an already completed original film, as a tax write-off? It seems they are so rich that they make more money from dodging taxes than from product.
The 'real animal' comment hits particularly hard at the moment. My wife and I just finished LOTR, non extended trilogy, and my god the horses. Both of us where side eying each other the whole time and asking if they were ok because they ride the hell out of all of them. Every single horse on screen is riden really, really hard, it's incredible, but most importantly it's rare now.
From a horse loving friend who also loves LOTR: The Riders of Rohan were (majority women) riders who rode their own irl horses because they were 1. Authentic and 2. Knew their animals!
Honestly, I have been floating the theory in my mind that recent movies/shows are just money laundering. How did Rings of Power spend so much money and end up so bad? something is up with the movie industry and it makes me sad. That being said, there are a lot of really good things out there, just mostly not with big studios. Did you guys watch The Penguin? That's a show that genuinely shocked me by how much I enjoyed it.
There's always been and will continue to be good stuff out there. Also the backlog is always growing. People just need to learn to go out of their way and look for the good artful soulful stuff instead of constantly consuming easy slop.
Honestly, most of the time these projects end up bad because they want to play it safe with such a big budget and these things just end up being completely steered by the people with the money, not really artists. They also mostly hire people they can control, not people who's work they were impressed with (because they don't care about the art anyway). The artists may have done good work before, but they're not big names. …but look at the showrunners for Rings of Power, according to IMDb they've worked together before, having two uncredited writing credits. Then they run the most expensive show ever made. I think there's too much money on screen to say this is just money laundering.
@abdullahzunaidkhandaker Absolutely, there's really great things coming out every year, but you got to put in SOME effort to find it. It can be as easy as following a couple of critics (and don't just watch reviews for movies you're already interested in) and go by their recommendations, take some risks and be open-minded.
I think it's safer to assume incompetence than malice. These are projects being greenlit by people who know nothing about movies other than established IPs make money, they're being made by people who have not worked on projects of this scope/type before, and they're rushed in the extreme because they want the turnaround to be as short as possible and as previously stated don't realize that this is a problem.
the fact that just now after this movie came out there was public confirmation that there was nothing stopping sony from using spidey in these movies and it was just a self imposed thing for some reason is so damn funny
"No one saw this, but if you did, back me up." I saw the movie last night with 3 other friends. We can all confirm that Allesandro Nivola did indeed laugh like a raptor at one point.
0:32 "at the end of the day i have to wonder what we are even doing here" is a geat review of this movie. It shows the true depth of this film and how it can really make one contemplate life.
Do you think that this movie made a better person and taught you how be a better father figure for your son? Just kidding! Congrats on the new baby-wishing you and your family all the best!😁👍
Thank you for talking about the over abundance of CGI, I breaks my emersion all the time. CGI Artists are fantastic but as you say overworked and understaffed CGI workers they don't have the time to make all these thousands of shots look natural, because for some reason they couldn't hire a cat or put a car in the street or film an existing city. It also makes for less interesting scenes as the camera has to be more focused on making it easier to do CGI and sometimes the, writers, directors and producers don't even know what they are going to do and will finalise it in post.
I develop different csp theories as the world develops. My new one about bad movies, including writing and special FX is their failures will be used to justify the use of AI programs in the creative process.
I assume that "eroded in applause" was just a typo/autocorrect, but I love the idea that any amount of cheering for this movie was so caustic, it started to dissolve the theater.
As someone who only really saw Aaron-Taylor Johnson in Bullet Train and as someone who hasn't seen Kraven The Hunter (or any Marvel movie since the awesome Spiderverse movies), I personally wouldn't have described him as a "charisma black hole" as he and Lemon's actor were the absolutely highlight of that movie and it wasn't even close.
I saw this at a press screening and it was so bad people around me started laughing. Even the girl next to me couldn’t stop laughing whenever Russell Crowe spoke
Saw the weird clip of the villain screaming - I suspect at one point they had an inkling of an idea to have his rhino powers perhaps become uncontrollable? So in that scene he was doing a stand in reaction meant to be covered up with shit CGI later on but they just never put it in when the subplot got cut. That's my theory
shoud be noted that Sony is forced to do a Spider Man movie EVERY 6 YEARS so they dont loose rights ! They did Venom and Venom 2 and 3 , there is absolutly no reason for them to do Morbius , Madame Webb and Kraven I dont know it they really just thought is going to be succes or is just some sort of mony loundering scheme but it isnt that they need to do this , they dont

"Andrew Taylor Johnson, I haven't seen any movies with him." Fascinating. I would describe him as Keanu Reeves if you swapped Charisma and Acting Ability but I didn't think it was that bad.
I mean he was delightful in Bullet Train but it does seem like he really needs something great to bounce off of - I’m just not sure if it’s a script, a director, or a costar
Bold move to bring your infant child to the theatre with you to experience this masterpiece of a film, but you did what was necessary to educate your kid on cinema. Bravo!
As exhausted/frustrated with the general state of things, I CANNOT imagine having a new baby and then going to see and talking about Kraven 😅 Don't blame you for having a breakdown :)
The sad thing is they let Aaron Taylor Johnson ham it up as this super over the top russian he could have made this role his own. He has so much personality and can steal the scene if you let him. He was fantastic in Bullet Train. But Sony seemed set on making him look and sound as boring as possible.

Honestly? A smaller crime movie where Johnson sounds like Niko Bellic would've been great.
on Aaron Taylor-Johnson - i hate that he takes so many god awful roles like this one because given the right script he shows real potential he was very good in Nocturnal Animals imo and i'd like to see him take on more serious projects in the future hopefully 28 Years Later will make up for some of the flops
I was going to see this cause I genuinely think ATJ is a great actor - he was awesome in Bullet Train and Nocturnal Animals. But BOTH my family cars had issues out of nowhere when trying to get to the cinema, so that's hilarious, and this was definitely a career choice on his side
It is kind of fun to think about some die hard Kraven fan out there whose dream came true when this was released, and after seeing it twice pre-ordered the blue-ray on their way to Target to buy the action figures.
Saw it in the theater. Can confirm the rhino does a pained squeal for some reason when his henchmen guy tells him bad news that one time. I also love how they keep hyping up his transformation throughout the movie, then when he actually lets himself transform it is the fuggliest cgi I've seen in years lmao. Also; the potion scene (dream sequence?) when Child Kraven becomes The Hunter and comes back to life has been haunting me since my viewing. It looked like those old Eyewitness animated intros
I feel like Madam Web was written just to put Syndey Sweeney in a schoolgirl outfit and in a bodysuit. And then based on those two parameters alone they had to write a feature-length movie around.
A couple days ago I got stuck inside a parking lot. I had gone out to do christmas shopping in the plaza and apparently a christmas parade had started nearby, so there was a huge line of cars trying to get out and it would have taken over an hour to get home. There happened to be a movie theater in the plaza though so I thought maybe I would just watch a movie to kill time until the traffic went down. The only movies that were starting soon were Moana 2 and Kraven. Given the choice between watching one of those movies and waiting in a line of cars for an hour... I got back in the car.
