Hearing the officer sigh when climbing the stairs of the parking garage pretty much sums up what being a LEO in LaCrosse appears to be day in and day out. Absolutely soul crushing....
The one time I missed court (on a felony possession charge back in my bad days) I was immediately tracked down and arrested for bail jumping and my bond was set at $50k. I had to sit in jail for 90 days, I was put on probation and forced into treatment. Now I've been sober for 7 years and I'm grateful every single day. People say you can't force someone to get clean, it's bullshit. NOT forcing people into treatment guarantees that they don't ever get sober. It's amazing how quickly people wake up once they go through jail withdrawals. I never wanted to go through withdrawals again and especially didn't want to go to jail again.
Jail Withdrawals will have you rethinking every possible bad decision you've ever made, as they should. Even in the one major potentially fatal scenario of Alcohol Withdrawal, people need to experience that shit. 11 hours in the tin pan, and being pretty much incapable of filling out release papers (having no alcohol in my bloodstream for the first time in years summoning the worst DTs I've personally ever experienced) made it crystal clear I had 2 options: 1. Get sober, and make a genuine effort to maintain that sobriety Or 2. Die, whether in an accident within 2 days, or from Cirrhosis I'd assuredly have within 10 years, likely before reaching an age of 30. God obviously approved of my choice, because I somehow only got a DWVI opposed to the "super drunk" driving they had every right to charge me with; Oh and the fact I had my Glock in my vehicle (locked in box, but with loaded magazine, no round chambered) and actually got it back from the the PD, even having the judge state on record he'd sign an order if needed to make sure it was returned. Even in a movie that's a tough story to believe, so I knew I'd been given a literal 2nd chance at life. I'd like to believe that being respectful and compliant towards the arresting officer had a factor in that outcome. Heck, the man let me use my personal cellphone to call my boss and brother from the station during processing. I'd really like to thank that officer one day. The absolute professional and empathetic way he handled the incident completely reversed the opinion I had regarding LEOs, since my first arrest a few years prior was a County Sheriff who was basically notorious in my Township for literally harassing people he'd arrested prior, and mainly focused on targeting teenagers and instead of trying to educate them or give them any type of break, regardless of it being 1st offense or not, would proceed to charge you with every possible offense under the harshest possible penalty, while basically laughing at you and taunting you the whole way to jail. When you're coworkers hate you, especially in the case of generally tight knit LEO community, you're just a shit human being.
Former Transit Security Officer in Seattle here. I can't tell you how much I had to deal with junkies in the elevators. We used to team up with the mechanics and shut them down so they couldn't get out no matter how long the cops took to respond they always got arrested. This was of course before St. George of Fentanyl came around.
I feel you. I'm a transit security officer here in Albuquerque and it's atrocious. We recently were contracted to start riding on the public busses because the female drivers are constantly getting assaulted, not to mention the drug abuse. They cant wait 10 minutes to get off the bus to smoke their fent. I've seen them do it right in front of children and it enrages me
I'm a third shift 7/11 employee in a rural area and love our sheriff's office and the company I get from time to time at night. The deputies are always super nice, I grew up with them as our school resource officers throughout high school. Super cool guys in our county. Sadly we lost sheriff's sergeant a few Sundays ago, he was a 32 year veteran of the GC Sheriff's Office. He is missed. RIP, Genesee County Sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello
36 rounds in 5 seconds. I think homeboy has cooled off now that he's been ventilated more than a block of Swiss cheese. He certainly learned that "The Chicago Way" has understudies in Denver. Also the subtitle "*possible exorcism*" put my sides in orbit. That was a good one.
I don’t like that officer, those are real people living real s*** lives and he laughing about it. Yeah, it’s crazy, but it’s not haha crazy. I understand sometimes you laugh when you don’t know how to react, but he also needed to keep his mouth shut with the side comments when dealing with the woman in the elevator. He was doing a bad job at deescalating the situation as he keeps saying things like “Oh she’s going to jail for sure” and “she was trying to throw dope in my face” while they are actively restraining her. I just didn’t get the feeling he was taking his job seriously. It seemed more like he couldn’t wait to tell someone the crazy story about what happened today. Meanwhile his partner was doing a great job communicating with them, seemed super chill and like a good dude.
@@joshlewis8860 you're part of the problem. Stop pandering to the dregs of society, they're tweaking in public and literally destroying a facility they don't own, live at, or even have a reason to be there. 20% of homeless people are homeless because of truly bad situations, but the other 80% are on drugs or just don't want to do normal life. Not my job to care at all about the poor life decisions made that got them in a stairwell openly deffocating in corners and peeing in elevators. You're the reason why you try to give homeless people food and they look at you like youre the idiot and want to bite your head off because they want money instead. You can feel bad for them, but you think $20, even $50 in 2024 economy, thats even going to make a dent in the problems they have? Dont think so, bub. I'm not giving a homeless guy a 20 so he can go get high, I give them a mcdonalds meal with a drink and a water, that's actually helping. Anybody in that situation would have laughed, I would've pee'd my pants from laughing so hard I almost did just watching so I couldn't imagine being there and having to deal with that level of childishness without a little chuckle. Lighten up buddy, no need to be a cremepuff, if you actually care that much about homelessness, you should go to your local council and present some changes. Because nobody thinks your a hero for trying to stick up for some random tweaker in one of the dirtiest towns in Wisconsin, that was par for the course for those guys, sorry you couldn't handle it. Like I said maybe make some legislative changes in your hometown if it bothers you that much🤷🏽
@joshlewis8860 that woman could also be a bum who never did anybody any good and it's her fault she's in that situation. But you are right allot of people just need some help

I have morals but seriously at what point is enough enough? especially if they ARE the problem in society? the cancer? a threat. im not so sure it's "immoral" to let the cancer on society die. maybe it's more a "necessary evil" for lack of better words. (more grey than evil, really) i mean if you stop them, theyll just be right back at it. -_- so ya maybe f it let her eat it. cant be a cancer on society if theyre dead. I care but jesus christ.... thatd be like letting judas die. is it really so wrong? "oh no the a**hole is gone" -_- just sayin-
My man with the ram had just taken his preworkout and was happily cruising back to the station to take advantage of his agency's Wellness on Duty program, got the call, and decided he would absolutely annihilate that door in frustration. I'm willing to bet he still went and got his workout in after all that too. Unit.
Between Breacher Bob and Tactical Tara, Denver looks to be getting serious about enforcement. Dude earned his cluster quack. Also, shout out to the folks that made and installed that door.
We’ve got good cops here, but also a state legislature trying to disarm the citizenry and spend all our taxes on “sanctuary city” madness. We’re on a fast track to becoming the same kind of paradise that San Francisco has become.
Unfortunately, I have been homeless, good blankets are worth fighting for. It sucks out there, but I'm glad they have a tight group of people to watch each other's backs.
That whole portion was sad. In the end it's people that legally don't belong anywhere. How can you better your life and, "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" when your existence is illegal and no where would hire you because they assume you will steal. People say that it's drugs that do this to them but sometimes I feel it's vice versa. When you have no hope, future, or opportunities what else is there to do? It's nature V nurture but America is truly a place where one bad slip, one month of unemployment, and one really bad day and your life can easily look like the people in this video and it's sickening. The 2008 crisis wasn't directly caused by an escalation in drug usage. It was one bad day in the economy that created thousands of people living in this nightmare.
I've been a manager at a 7-11 in Utah for a few year's. Those door's aren't meant to be opened easily because we go in there and lock it when counting the day's receipts. We also have all of the live camera feed in there. Technically those door's aren't supposed to be left open like that the assistant manager should have a key and on graveyard it's kept locked because there's nothing you need in there if you're just a regular worker.
did autocorrect change lanyard to graveyard? Cause that's hillarious lol, makes it sound like the manager is supoosed to saveguard the key to his grave.
props to that door for standing up to the juggernaut for that long. Props to the Miss. Rambo for taking lead. And I have to say the cops in la crosse are so chill in every video.
I was on a call once, very JR officer at that time. Big boys kicked the door, hit it with their shoulders, finally a Supervisor showed up with a RAM and we all told to step back. Me being me I turned the door knob first. The door was closed not locked. I was run over by all the veteran officers as they entered then got the honor of having to write the ENTIRE INCIDENT REPORT. Being a rookie sucked
That parking garage clear out was like a Zelda dungeon that slowly keeps getting more difficult as you progress deeper into the dungeon. You meet your basic enemies on the first floor who are super easy to deal and are then teased as to who the final boss is followed by the sub boss on level 2 who at times can be difficult before encountering the dungeon boss who haunts the elevator.
reminded me of that Backrooms multiplayer game that was popular a few months back, where each level, the monsters get harder as you dive deeper into the insanity, but the environment is just generic urban rooms with no structure.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Likely that she vanished a few weeks back (likely got hooked on something new) and when she returned to her old haunts, was worse than she was before.
I kept getting more and more impressed. From the strength of that door to the absolute strength of the ramming officer to the shooting 30+ rounds and not hitting the hostages. Crazy scenario.
I can't help but feel bad for the tweakers in the second half, just watching that one woman reduced to pissing in an elevator and shoving down drugs, thinking in the back of my head "That was someone's daughter, their pride and joy at one point".
I love how some of the officers that were dealing with the people in the stairwell in Wisconsin just sounded so done and like they didn't want to be there lol
dealing with these types of people is the worst. There's very little you can do, especially since liberal prosecutors and judges refuse to hold them accountable. Law enforcement basically just moves them along and will see them in a day or two, then have to do the song and dance all over again.
Given the short span of time and how the situation evolved these offices adapted and kept control of the situation and executed text book police training &tactics
I get the cops doing their jobs and props to them for staying so chill. They did a great job. I'm talking about the Wisconsin cops. I feel for that lady, addiction is such a horrible disease. She needs serious help. It broke my heart. Serious props to those cops for handling it so well.
The perp's first mistake (outside of stealing a car, running to 7-11 for a Slurpie, and taking a couple of hostages in a small room) was trying to sit down in a rolling chair with a gun and a hostage. He didn't get securely sitting before the ventilation came on. I just feel for the corporate IT guy who has to fix that mess of cables they managed to pull out around there. And...the two hostages. That woman at the end really needed about 2 stiff drinks and a hug. But great job Denver PD, one less perp to have to deal with.
I just moved from Denver to eastern TN. I have an 18 month old daughter and the violent from rate in the metro area has skyrocketed since I moved there in 2018. Last year just outside my complex in a fairly nice area a lady was car jacked at gun point and another man was shot. Even though I was pretty heavily armed, I didn’t feel it was safe for my daughter to run around. Glad to see Denver police act swiftly, they’re under immense pressure to find alternate solutions even when there is no alternative.
I tip my hat to the 2 officers in the parking garage. They had amazing composer and were very respectful. They showed great professionalism and handled the situation. I hope these officers are doing well. Cheers!
I think both vids make one wonder how cops don’t go rogue more often than they do. How many people could deal with the lowest depths of people like this on a daily basis and remain sane and hopeful?
@@podcastlegends3671 True, but I'm willing to guess being taken hostage by a knife-wielding maniac already took care of that. The important thing is neither hostage was injured (possibly aside from their hearing, as Jimbo said).
Still makes me sad to see anyone in these situations because of drugs. I have lost a brother not from it but because of his past. Alot of us went through problems just thank God i was able to get over it long ago. Everyday is a gift.
You know that 7-11 employee is going to have some PTSD. I'm glad I got my PTSD while I was in the Army. You know that 7-11 employee is going to be messed up and not get the help she needs.
Bro we love you guys and we are sorry we haven't gotten y'all the help you need. God bless you and I hope you find the help you need. You are a brave warrior
@@davidluna8577 I'm one of the lucky ones that has access to a small hometown VA clinic that actually helps me a lot. I do appreciate it though. But, I am worried about people like this 7-11 employee that will most likely have some PTSD from this encounter and we know she definitely won't get the help that I get.
Man, in that first video you can see how the cops’ hands are shaking like crazy because he was jacked up on adrenaline. And rightly so, because there’s a Bad Guy armed with at least a knife, barricaded in an office with two innocent hostages. The fact that they folded the Bad Guy like he was great-granny’s crappy lawn furniture with that many rounds and didn’t hit the hostages was pretty spectacular. Although we know that the hostages are probably now fairly deaf as a result!
You usually won't get severe hearing damage as a result as your ears usually recover just fine within a few days to weeks but yeah it's definitely not fun
Agreed but she is tiny and while I appreciate her being over eager to get in there it would have been better to have that bull of a man go in to make space for more barrels in the door, but he was the breacher and the breacher is never the number 1 man. She blocked the door, didn’t make any space and pushed in with a long gun into a short room. That could have been a much worse situation because of that and I’m glad it wasn’t. But her motivation is definitely to be commended.
It took a LONG period of her choosing to not get help, not stop doing drugs, maybe not take her meds if she has mental illness. For a VAST majority of these people, these are self-imposed crises. People CHOOSE addiction and criminality over the harder path of recovery and contribution to society. She may have had potential, but she consciously chose to go down the path of... This... Instead.
Better yet, save it for younger candidates like Madeline Soto & little girls just like her, who never got the time to reach their potential.@@ghoulbuster1

i recently got out of the hospital after a significant traumatic injury (30+ fractures including my right femur being turned in to woodchips.) in the hospital i was administered significant quantities of strong intravenous opioids including fentanyl and hydromorphone (like morphine but much stronger) and while the medications were absolutely necessary due to the incredible pain i was experiencing they were also enjoyable in a way i had not previously understood and it really scared me. Coming off of them has been a long difficult process as i am progressively stepping down the dosage to wean myself off. When i first had to give up the IV drugs and switch to pill forms it was a 3 day nightmare of sweating through the agonizing withdrawals. The whole ordeal has really made me even more sympathetic to the people that end up addicted to this. None of it justifies their actions but man the high you get is so soothing and way this stuff makes you feel if you go cold turkey is so terrible you really start to understand why these people act the way they do. The whole parking garage situation was just so sad it made it hard to watch.
My mom got hooked on morphine when she was in the hospital for spine surgery to correct her scoliosis. When the doctors realized what had happened, they took her off the morphine. As my dad observed, "I didn't know she knew those kind of words." I believe that was the impetus that made her get a Master's in psychology and become a substance abuse counselor. I've had morphine twice for major surgeries and I can attest it is wooonderful stuff. 🤪
Same. I have had history of family and loved ones getting addicted to pain meds after hospital stay, that I got paranoid of any strong pain killers. Then I almost died to Covid and the hospital did an awful job not turning me so I got horrible bedsores on my lower back. Almost got addicted to dilaudid but thanks to an awesome wound care nurse she got me down to where I was no longer needing the stuff and got off it before it became an addiction.
I was on fentanyl patches for over a decade. Then my doctor got popped by the dea and no other doctor would touch me because all his patients had been blacklisted due to the association with him. I had to quit a shit ton of fentanyl cold turkey. I was absolutely wrecked for a solid year, eventually so suicidal I took myself to the county mental health place. It was the lowest point of my life and that was saying something. This was back before fentanyl was available in the street or I would have spent every cent I had to get some more. I totally feel for people hooked on this shit, it is brutal to come off of
1000% Justified in Denver! Door crasher officer is a beast! Female warrior officer...is a...well...warrior... an apparently pretty accurate one, too! Well done!
Fun little story from New York City, a guy paid for a night in a 5-star hotel and abused an old law the city had to demand a lease, claiming that since he was given a key he was a tenet. After a brief court date which the building owner refused to acknowledge, much like the request for a lease, the person then legally was given ownership of the room... not renting, legit owning. Had they not gone a step further and forged a paper saying they owned the whole building, they would still be living there.
Some great work shown here. Sensible division of labour, the hulk got the battering ram, the female officer with the extra firepower, to make up for her size and a willingness to use it, mock the hairband but after seeing some standards of police departments where officers with long hair are adjusting it whilst they have someone at gun point, fair play. The 3rd officer followed her in. The police being polite with the reasonable homeless people and getting respect back, no unnecessary escalation. Great examples being set

They cant wait 10 minutes to get off the bus to smoke their fent. I've seen them do it right in front of children and it enrages me
Atleast most of the time the people on fent just slump over unlike someone on meth or pcp

Meanwhile his partner was doing a great job communicating with them, seemed super chill and like a good dude.

i recently got out of the hospital after a significant traumatic injury (30+ fractures including my right femur being turned in to woodchips.) in the hospital i was administered significant quantities of strong intravenous opioids including fentanyl and hydromorphone (like morphine but much stronger) and while the medications were absolutely necessary due to the incredible pain i was experiencing they were also enjoyable in a way i had not previously understood and it really scared me.
For the next 48 hours, the former hostage kept saying "Holy Shit" over and over again. 😅
"Trashcan Batman" 😂😂 "Coatrack Crimefighter" 😂😂😭
Tactical hair band! (Nothing worse than getting your hair in your eyes in a potentially life or death situation).
That lady police officer was / is a total badass!!
