Hey Donut! These guys are my people. Gengler was my trainer for Phase One of FTO. Gibson took the round to his femur. Last I heard he's looking at a year out of work. Ill pass this on to these guys and see if we can get Gibson in touch with you. Thank you for what you do man.
I had a guess it was femur, just by the sheer pain he was in. Hope he heals up alright. Pretty crazy situation. And very brave of John the civvie running out there and helping drag him to cover.
I used to be a Correctional Officer at a tdc unit where he was at. He was a good guy back then too. Glad he's out and doing good things out here as well
Good video donut. To the former convict. I'm a retired State Corrections Officer. You sir have become not just a law abiding citizen again, but a role model for us all. Congratulations sir.
@TheDylls depends. Most get that right back if they pay their fines and court costs. You can actually get all your rights back. Even the right to possess a firearm. But you have to petition the court for that one.
Its the American justice system. Even if someone is convicted of committing a crime there is still just a 50% chance that they actually committed a crime and a 50% chance that what actually happened was they trampled on his rights and got away with it.
Holding his phone the whole time too. Probably not the selfless guy you wanna think he is. Why the camera? Opportunity, that's why. He made sure to get it all on camera.
For the insane chaos of this entire event, EVERY one of these officers remained incredibly professional, constant effective communication, safety for crossfire always in comms, effective fire as we see by the amazing outcome, and just incredibly well trained! Just wow!!
The officers kinda reminded me of how everyone on a sports team has to know & understand where everyone is & what they're doing to succeed. Obviously the stakes are a lot higher here, but yes, agreed. I also think they gave the suspect many opportunities to not be unalived. Dude was deadset on grabbing his own gun til his very end. The lack of survival instinct is befuddling to me.
@@VRDejaVui mean for sure it was a shit storm but miracles didnt stop that poor lady from shot or an of the cops on the other side it was skill and training no one rushed and shot when anyone but the criminal could have gotten shot with how many different guns and angles involved it shows that each individual officers was doing the right thing
Lol I was gonna write a smart ass reply but nay so I'll be honest. Doesn't surprise me. My dad used to try to cut people breaks when he could, but if you abused it or didn't take advantage of good opportunities he had no issue buying a new book since he just threw the other one.
You can even see that there were bullets that were shot through the driver side of her vehicle and out the back window. She is quite lucky to be alive, and I can't imagine what she must have went through during all of this. She was just minding her own business when a criminal being chased just wipes both of them out and starts shooting at her vehicle towards cops. Her airbags going off and making her have to try to crawl out underneath them, thus putting her engine block between herself and the suspect, probably saved her life in more ways than one here.
Oh gosh I cannot even imagine how scared she must have been. One minute she's driving down the interstate and the next she's in the middle of double-sided shoot out. Bullets absolutely go through cars. She really is lucky in the overall sense. Hopefully she doesn't get PTSD. 😢
@@Daytonaman675When was that bud? When was serious burglary, armed robbery, massive fraud, molestation, drug trafficking etc etc etc a fucking misdemeanor? Cmon man use your head for a few seconds before you comment something so unbelievably brain dead. You don’t get felonies from a simple misunderstanding or a good natured accident. You have to knowingly do some serious criminal shit to become a felon, hence why you have certain rights taken from you (as they should be). If you become like the guy in the video and are seemingly reformed……that’s great and I wish you continued growth/happiness but sometimes the consequences of your actions stay with you for a lifetime. Nobody can complain about how much it sucks to be a felon bc YOU are the one who did that to yourself, nobody forced you to commit that crime so you can’t get butthurt about the consequences just bc some time went by. That felon might be “reformed” but the victim of their crime might be suffering the rest of their life bc of that person. If you don’t like the punishment then don’t do the fucking crime, it’s real simple and that’s why the vast majority of the public are not convicted felons. I’m tired of people whining on behalf of felons and the felons themselves whining about a situation THEY THEMSELVES are responsible for. Nobody to blame but yourself.
@@Daytonaman675Totally agree, up to and until when you're a threat to the livelihood of those around you, it shouldn't be a felony. Ie double speed limit is akin to attempted murder/negligence, genuinely physical and or mental trauma brought by sexual assault or just physical violence, and matters concerning treason like spying or influencing people to have allegiance to another country, things shouldnt be felonies that are currently. Also selling laced or copious amount of the harmful sorts of drugs or laced/incorrectly labeled drugs, legal or illegal. Anything else should be in other categories I wholly agree.

As a former Prison Officer (Australia) hats off to the Gigachad ex-con. I use to see the cycle all the time, crooks come in off the street young, spend two, three, fours terms of being locked up, suddenly they're in their 40's and realised that they've spent half their life being locked up and often destroying their family life, and change their ways and often become model citizens. Sometimes some prisoners see this early and change. I've seen ex-prisoners on the outside go on to do a lot of good, which after 15 years service, I needed to restore my faith in the human race. Well done Gigachad John and speedy recovery to Officer John.
There's a cop in my county jail that did 20 years as a CO in a prison here in the states and he's the only one who treats you like a normal person. Dude told me all kind of stories, calls me bro, let's me lean over the counter to see what he's showing me on the computer. I think after reading your comment that he's made the same observations.
Him rubbing his head and holding his hand made me tear up as a former criminal sometimes we do dumb shit it was overwhelming to see him just have love and compassion for a stranger
As a non former criminal that also brought a tear to my eye went out of his way and put himself in danger to save an officer showing that he made a change for the better and people do deserve a second chance
As a former person who made bad decisions for years but also changed to the positive side this too made me tear up. Also when the elderly lady got escorted away. Crazy all the way around
That was like watching a war zone! WTF??? Im so impressed that the police were able to be in a crossfire situation, with multiple civilians & only the perp was shot! That is only due to teamwork, training, and trust! And the man that has gotten is life back on track & helped is proof that there is a life after you make a mistake! ❤

Our oldest is 4 months into parole. He was incarcerated at 17 and just turned 29. He is now in a pretty high-stakes game of Adulting 101. Two months in, he was considering asking for his parole to be revoked because he was under so much strain. We encouraged him to hang in and give himself a chance. I too, would have done the same. I'm 1yr +/- away from getting my state rights back to own a firearm (never had a violent offense) and look forward to that day. Point is folks.... Never judge a person just due to their past. I assure you, many ex-criminals, have your 6! LEO, P.O., etc included. I was young. I did dumb shit. I learned and now have a career most would envy. That being said, all persons outside of state/federal custody DESERVE THEIR 2A RIGHTS or they don't deserve to be home! Period.

John is a straight up HERO!!!! not only that but he has shown the world that not all guys that are ex cons are bad people. Some of us actually do reintegrate back into society and become normal law abiding citizens willing to put our own lives on the line to help save a downed officer.
I can’t blame ex-cons for having an extremely hard time reintegrating. Society let them down from birth and has trodden upon them again and again. That pain never justifies violent crime and endangering others, but it sure as hell explains why people snap.
@@spinekingjrgensen5779 Since I just saw you also blame society in another comment, I have to ask... what about the criminals who are born with every advantage in the world, the wealthy, healthy, successful people with families who loved them, who commit horrific crimes? @@scarletamazon3455 They run it, you said it yourself. How are we supposed to deal with corrupt government and organized crime when the streets are littered with murder? To be honest, answering a question with a question is a bit of bad sport. No, society does not fail the wealthy and the corrupt, they are the ones with direct influence, who then shape it. Nobody can honestly work their way to the top. Every billionaire has been born into what is generations of accumulated wealth and power, their grandfather might’ve sought opportunity in the new world, but today, the wealthy, and I do not mean entrepreneurs or millionaires, but the ultra rich, engineer a society in which the average American citizen is economic cattle. Everything profits the state. Criminals as well, since prisons are designed to profit off of yearly incarceration and length of confinement. That is what your tax goes to.

I love Donut, ton's of truly heartwarming content delivered with care. Glad that guy straightened his life out and changed directions, also glad he was there to lend a hand to an officer in need. He deserves recognition for his selfless act and his constant stream of encouragement to the downed officer. When injured, having someone talking to you and showing they care about you can make a world of difference in your ability to deal with the pain and survive. This was a motivational video!
I love a good redemption story, good for John. I hope he’s doing well and so is his family and loved ones. He seems like a genuinely good guy who turned his life around, hope he stays on the right path.
Huge respect for civilian John risking his life to help drag officer John to safety then doing everything he can to calm and comfort him. It was heartwarming to see the officer lift his hand in response to being encouraged to hold his hand. Civilian John deserves good things for being there. I’ve been injured and in pain myself-though not nearly as bad as being shot in the leg but enough to know that simply knowing that you’re not alone, that another person is holding your hand and doing their best for you can make such a difference in the moments before paramedics arrive. Faith in humanity: Restored.

The teamwork was amazing and i love hearing the communication between the officers being quick and efficient, they were all able to understand and direct each other to get the job done. Lastly I loved seeing Officer Perez taking the initiative on doing his part and his tactical awareness.
Nothing new in Houston. We have one of the most ghetto dangerous cities in the US sadly. Literally everybody I know has had their car stolen, house broken into, or mugged at gunpoint
Massive win to the civilian helping a fellow human being in a dire situation A quick recovery to everyone who’s got hurt mentally or (in this case specifically) physical to the Officer! Much love from Berlin! 🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸
It’s crazy to think how many people there are out there right now prepared to do this sort of thing at any moment. And how many politicians want to protect and enable them.
This video made me super emotional. I’m glad everything worked out in the end. So glad to see some people with goodness in them still trying to be heroes.
I've prosecuted and got prison sentences. I've defended and had a lot who got prison sentences. However, this dude who helped to pull the officer to safety is one righteous straight-up good man. Where he has been is no longer relevant because he has proved he has good and courage inside of him. God bless him!
But he really was the real criminals are the one filming with body cams and body armor and screaming like lunatics while getting 100 plus civies in the crossfire over a tiny thing
Dude, John’s Jujutsu Kaizen hoodie is the mf cherry on top of all his heroism 🤘Kudos man, it’s not often we get an opportunity to do things like that, and most probably wouldn’t when out in his position. Love to see it
Thank you brother!! Been waiting on you to cover this story, and the body cam footage made this even better. Wouldn’t ask for another person to cover this 🙏

I’ve probably subscribed to donut operator 9 times 😊 so glad TH-cam lets me show my support for the channel 😊
God damn that old lady in the other car must have been terrified... a terrible accident, bullets flying thu her car, dirtbags trying to get into her car.... i hope shes ok ❤
im kinda impressed she had the courage and strength to get out and move after all that. i know a lot of people who would have locked up in fear and not acted at all
Did the suspect take the driver out of the vehicle with the old lady? If not I hope the driver of her car is alright unless she was the one driving and moved to passenger then I'm glad it looked like she didn't suffer serious injuries
@@Randomnessisnear I think she moved over and got out the passenger side, I don't remember seeing another person get out of that car on the raw video of this. She might not have physical injuries, but I bet that situation does a number on your mental health.
@@Randomnessisnear According to Donut, the only people who got shot were officer Gibson and the suspect.
@@--_DJ_--she was shot. Non life threatening though. I think she took shrapnel from a round if I remember correctly. She was definitely hit by something. Brave woman.
I’m an ex-con, and a felon, and I support the police. Would absolutely do the same if I had to.
I also support and watch all of your videos, Donut! Lol
Hope you're living a good life, sir. Congrats on turning your life around
Hey donut, just wanted to say, I’m glad you uploaded today! Just had surgery, and I’m binge watching like all your content!
@Donutoperatorsuncle I appreciate that my man!
Hope recovery goes well 🤛
@@Lew699 Thank you!!
Hope your recovery goes smoothly too
Hope you’re resting well man
Seeing these honorable men at work bring me a sense of hope, the feeling that good can overcome evil and the world is not doomed to become evil I respect and honor the service these men have shown
Judge not a man by the mistakes of his past, but by his present actions. Good things come to those who do good, and that man is a hero.
I sincerely have more respect for those who have bettered themselves than whatever flawless saint.
Not everyone gets dealt the same hand in life, and some people take it rough. To be able to change your life around, to improve yourself, that's a skill not many possess.
Steel nuts and a reinforced concrete spine. Massive respect.
It's not about just doing good, it's about doing better, every day, day after day. And this man understands that. Bless this dude.
Thank you civilian John for dragging officer John to safety. You have definitely turned your life around & I pray you have a very good life. Bless you!
The teamwork was amazing and i love hearing the communication between the officers being quick and efficient, they were all able to understand and direct each other to get the job done. Lastly I loved seeing Officer Perez taking the initiative on doing his part and his tactical awareness.
This former criminal did an amazing job. He kept his cool & risked his life for the police that once locked him up.
Yo donut! This shooting was crazy man, absolute chaos on the highway. Glad you covered this, keep up the great work👍
Nothing new in Houston. We have one of the most ghetto dangerous cities in the US sadly. Literally everybody I know has had their car stolen, house broken into, or mugged at gunpoint
Mad props to the the reformed man and all the officers. They gave that suspect a chance to live, but he didn’t want to. I hope nobody else was hurt.
Massive win to the civilian helping a fellow human being in a dire situation
A quick recovery to everyone who’s got hurt mentally or (in this case specifically) physical to the Officer!
Much love from Berlin! 🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸
Ya he made sure to record for all the thanks
Yeah least he helped whereas most other people me included and probably you would just record
The amount of ducks involved in this gunfight is astounding
"That's a rad couple of dudes right there" then immediately after "and now officer Stephens has entered the chat" has got me cracking up
Someone somewhere will try to sue the cops and say he was such a good boy
Right???
I think they already tried.
@@Jim87_36is the bastard behind bars still
While showing his 6th portrait
But he really was the real criminals are the one filming with body cams and body armor and screaming like lunatics while getting 100 plus civies in the crossfire over a tiny thing
Someone was cutting onions when the civilian was helping the officer. Man, that was amazing to see. Great job to all involved!
"My names john too” The start of a true friendship.
i love humans who do not forget to be human
Damn, sure am glad you've got the most enhanced crime recreation software in these breakdown videos Donut.
Best part is he said he was filming so his boss would believe him when he said why he was late to work 😂😭💛
"The suspect somehow died! OH NO!!" cracked me me up, Donut.
Dude, John’s Jujutsu Kaizen hoodie is the mf cherry on top of all his heroism 🤘Kudos man, it’s not often we get an opportunity to do things like that, and most probably wouldn’t when out in his position. Love to see it
That was intense!!! Prayers out the cops and the civilian that helped ❤
You never know who's gonna save your life, so be kind to everyone!❤️
So heartbreaking hearing him screaming in pain, the man may have made some terrible choices in life but at heart hes a good person.
Everybody here did great work. Every officer and of course, John, all did their best and you couldn't ask for more.
Thank you brother!! Been waiting on you to cover this story, and the body cam footage made this even better. Wouldn’t ask for another person to cover this 🙏
"they offered me 25 years" i said no thanks you can keep them, i have enough years on me lol love this guy
It's nice to see folks still helping other people, regardless of whatever past they had. Thanks for keeping John alive, John. That was a dope yet dangerous move. Glad you guys ended up alright. 🤙🏾
