@@GammageBenjamin Let me give you some perspective, in 2006 I had a great career, my first ever chance of getting on the property ladder a flat(part rent part buy) and a girlfriend life was going ok. Not long after I ended up losing my job, my flat then my girlfriend left me and my mum passed away. Ever since then my life has been an existence of low paid jobs homeless and renting flats. in 2020 guess what? I lost my job again and my landlord passed away with covid, I had been in the flat for 5 years at this point, his family sold it, the price I was paying at the time was £550, the going rents at that time where nearly £1k, I coudlnt find anything affordable so I lived in my car for a while until my father let me stay for a short whille so I could look for work. Eventually found a studio flat after 6 months of trying it was £750 a month and saved up enough for a deposit etc and I am now in that same place for 2 years now(do I like it?, no but its a roof over my head). I ended up getting a new job and now earn more and have been building my savings up so I have something to fall back on if something does happen. Happy I came across your video! And I agree both with the other comments and with your take on consistency. It is a crazy world we live in, and all we can do is try and do our best! Feeling stressed out and not sleeping well doesn't have to be the end of the world, as long as it is only for a short time. I hope you'll find a new place soon, and I'm sure you'll be able to relax a whole lot with a better idea of how the next few months are going to go. Having to find and finance a new place to live after being without a job for a while, that's double rough! Do you think you're on track to pull it off one way or another? Would you be open to, or have you already looked into, some form of crowdfunding to help you out?
Hey thanks! appreciate the comment too! Its going to be rather tight but I believe I can pull it off, going to have to be very careful with money! Crowdfunding... my instinctive reaction is i don't want others to help me and be out of pocket. I have a hard time asking for help (probably some historic issues there!) especially financially, as i have never recieved it (unless you count jobseekers). But I am thinking about it. If i could pay those back when i could, like a loan that didn't have absurd interest rates
@@GammageBenjamin Yeah, I can understand that. It can even be a source of pride to put together a plan and have it work! One concept that helped me be more comfortable asking for and accepting help is the "pay it forward" idea - I may be in need of some support today, but if things go well I will in turn be able to help out others in the future (not necessarily just financially either, helping others can take many forms). From what you mention in the video, you are in a bit of a tough spot right now through some unfortunate timing of events in your life. But it should only be a temporary thing, with the new job you're starting. I am sure there would be people willing to contribute toward your deposit for the new place, for example. And sincerely not expect to be paid back anything.
Been in massive debt/still am, but even with 20 grand in account, was cutting on food... o.O As if, saving on food will make the debts to go away. Saving hard, working hard & smart will. One ,, luxury '' that you have while with bit of savings, is to be able to choose the job, don't have to blindly fall in. A year later, still in debt, no savings, BUT, started my own bis, not cutting on the food anymore, even in a better shape, and been in 5 (applied to ~ 30) job conversations, to find something suitable. Also got plans for two years ahead and the ,, vision '' that is what keeps you going. ,, Gonna be out of this s in a year or two ''
Hey mate, thanks for sharing. That sounds rough if I'm honest. The fact you kept working hard and following that vision despite no obvious "light at the end of the tunnel" just shows that you will make it - at least that's the assumption I'm making. so many people live in debt (including myself). Im right behind you on a very similar journey, let me know how you get on!
Once you get settled in your job it could be worth looking more deeply at your finances. Do you budget? Do you know what your biggest costs are? Do you have credit card or high interest debt? Future you will thank you if you get your finances in order so that no one can put you in this situation again.
Well, I sold a certian stock which essentially covers a potential deposit, but my float or "im screwed money" covered 3 months. that dried up. since being unemployed the debts came quickly. Its difficult to budget when i made the wrong life choice of renting alone. the cash flow was such that i could not save enough. to cover 6 months of unemployment for example, whilst renting alone with bills etc would take me 9 months. thats allowing for a £200 month for food. I should of had a larger float, having to rely on credit to supplement jobseekers after 3 months was not ideal. but given my work history that wasn't financially feasible. and thats after making money on every stock and crypto i had. making money on very little is still very little. if you know of financial methods that can optimise the market based on funtional or technical analysis do spill the beans! but what i do know now, is not rely on job security and always houseshare :(
@@GammageBenjamin I think having a rainy day fund makes sense. Sharing living expenses will help. I wouldn't touch crypto but that's just me. Dollar cost average into low expense index fund is probably the only guaranteed way to build wealth over time.

Keep going circumstances Don make the man
absolutely agree, fuel for the fire so to speak!
Ohno😮
Yeah turtle guy! life isn't as simple as swimming and... doing turtle stuff
Algorithm seemed to bring me here, but I’m glad it did. You seem like you have a good mindset for this man, and a good head on your shoulders. I know you’re not seeking sympathy but I feel for you that you’ve been going through it for the last few months and beyond. Really chuffed that you’ve landed a job and all the best for finding a place to live. Discipline is everything and I wish you all the best going forward fella!
this comment is bloody beautiful and watered the tear ducts haha. Cheers, that means a lot though. All the best!
what profession are you into?
I used to help my family run this carpet shop (i was useless), learnt to code over covid and got into the insurance world as a analyst of sorts. I got a job offer recently which ive accepted but also had loads of interviews with various insurance companies so will be interesting to hear their feedback!

It's a pity you can't morph into an illegal immigrant - your financial problems would end in an instant
there is statistical chances of improved job prospects if my name was different, according to some studies.
why do you cry about that on youtube? Are you begging for 10 dollars here or what? What's the point?
Just sharing my experiences, and trying to improve my video creation skills. Im looking into creating a community that helps people get work.
If nobody helps you, be the help you would need...
Thanks for watching though!
