- This brand new city builder is so chill! Honestly I could play this for hours and hours (if I was good enough), as someone who regularly plays Carcassonne, I was super impressed with this game's unique take on the city builder strategy cross over. The hand drawn cardboard cutout art style is spot on too. Be sure to check out my Twitch over the weekend as I will no doubt be playing more of this incredibly satisfying game.

About Dorfromantik:
Dorfromantik is a relaxing building strategy and puzzle game in which you place tiles to create ever-growing, idyllic village landscapes. With Dorfromantik, you can immerse yourself in a quiet, peaceful world at any time and take a break from everyday life. At the same time, Dorfromantik offers a challenge for those who are looking for one: To beat the highscore, you need to carefully plan and strategically place your tiles.
In Dorfromantik you start with a stack of procedurally generated tiles. One after the other, you draw the top tile of the stack, place it on one available slot and rotate for the best fit. Thereby groups and combinations of landscapes are formed, such as forests, villages or water bodies, and you are rewarded with points depending on how well the tile fits.
On some tiles you will also encounter special objects that give you a quest: For example, the windmill wants to border 6 grain fields, the locomotive wants to be connected to 10 tracks or the deer wants to inhabit a forest with at least 50 trees. Fulfill these quests to get more tiles to continue the expansion of your landscape. The game ends when the tile stack is used up.
As you expand the landscape, you can advance into new, colorful biomes and discover pre-placed game objects that give you long-term tasks. Through these tasks you can unlock new tiles, new biomes and new quests.

Let me know if you'd be up for me streaming more of this at the weekend on twitch, I'm pretty keen!
challenge: make the strongest shape in this game using rivers or railways
You should check out ISLANDERS, similar sort of thing but with out the tiles, and more of a focus on synergies between different objects.
yesssss
This game was dopeee
I want more of that weird life creator🦠 game
Edit found the name! SPORE!!!!!
The water train station can connect to both railways and water. It's basically the developer's solution to a bridge.
And he had a perfect place to put it, but didn't bother to put it in that weird junction.
Now I want to see an AI play this game endlessly.
Oh yes, that would be cool.
So code it
Tell that to Codebullet xD
@@csx5882 Yeah I'd be nice, but he does like one video per forever lol
Gonna give it a try... though knowing the consistency of my motivation that doesn't mean a lot XD
From my limited German, "Dorfromantik" means:
"Village Romance"
So the name of the game makes sense!
It's more like the romantic flair a village has.
Kommt schon hin, irgendwie.
Ja so ein bissle
Maybe village romanticism, romance sounds a lot like a relationship thing and that's not what word means. It describes the feeling of being in a romantic village
It means something like "the romantic atmosphere of being in a village"
"Dorfromantik" is german and it describes the cozy feeling of old european villages
I'm in love with this game, I keep building and making up lore in my head to explain away all the desperate moves I had to make 😅 it's such a fun and relaxing game to unwind to :)
I did the same
Getting those perfects are really important. Not only for points but every perfect awards a tile.
Oh I did not realise the extra tile!
Ah, yes. We all know the hexagon is the bestagon.
Friggin love how CGP managed to make a meme out of that.
Yes the hexagon is the bestagon
@@chris86simon really? since when was it a meme
it’s a fact
@@LavroseRovender Because hexagons are the bestagon.
Yes
You didn't make Engineer? Now you're a Real Civil Architect.
Thats rude!
@@dehasim nah, just friendly teasing
Seeing him get all excited over this is honestly the most adorable thing I've seen all week.
Me (living in Austria, speaking German): HE IS PLAYING A GAME WITH A GERMAN NAME YAY
No wonder, the game developers are from Berlin :)
Cool dann wirst du ja sicherlich diesen Satz verstehen können :)
Me (Living in Germany, speaking German): YES GERMANY INERTNATIONAL JA JA :D
@@eamrockstv4338 ja ich verstehe😂😂
Dachte ich mir auch
Lol I didn't even realised that the name of the game is german when I clicked on the video
And I am german

This guys voice is so relaxing
That’s why I always what’s rce
Having played a lot of this game, I can safely say that rivers and rails are the bane of this game but also tend to be worth massive points if you can complete their quests... give and take, I guess.
Rails are the absolute worst in the game. At least with rivers you can be a bit more flexible with how they connect. Rails will fuck you over so many times because there's only so much you can do with them.
@@davisbowe8668 Thank God I am not the only one. I have been breaking my head over how to strategize the rails better. Stupid game keeps eating up the tile spaces.
That boat at 7:48 was a little like the suez canal rn lol
The captain of Evergreen drew a giant dick with the cargo ship then wedged it sideways into the Suez canal. I wonder if it was RCE all along.
Him freaking out about it falling off was probably the purest thing ever lol
You are into Hexagons because they are the Bestagones
It is a german Videogame title,I think it was created by developers in Berlin
Relaxing City Building Game :)

Likely many of my neighbors in my building are home, since it's a national holiday and it's lightly raining. Also, my windows are open, because air circulation.
I live alone and have not said a word out loud all day until now:
Me: NO, NO, NO!!! YOUR RAILROAD WILL POINT DIRECTLY INTO YOUR FOREST!!!!!
The name is German, it translates to village romantic lol
No the name is dorfromantik
@@ajarofmayonnaise3250 No, this is Patrick
*romance
@@sergiobenitez1468 no it’s billy
Idyllic Village(s) is a better translation.

The fact he didn’t put the piece in the tile to connect the river makes me triggered
Me too
So this is like Islanders x Carcassone? Nice.
Thats what i was thinking !
@@julienmauguin3214 y same
"I don't care I'm an engineer" phrases that precede unfortunate events
I play this game all the time and never thought to close off a river by just connecting the river turn pieces together-
You should really look into a game called Oxygen Not Included. Its a city builder but with a LOT of micro managing and tweaking. I think you would love that game and how much planning you have to do to have a successful base. Take a look and give it a try. I think you would love it.
Dorfromantik is a German word for Village Romance.
It means you love the character and the life in a small village.
Danke. Wollte das auch gerade schreiben. :D
FYI: you can zoom out without having to use mods, what you need to do is just scroll without hovering over the hexagon squares!
I love seeing Ludum Dare games geting popular and eventually becaoming full titles.
(72) I've been playing Kingdoms and Castles since you've uploaded Becastled. This game in particular feels like a board game. Not to say it isn't good, the whole video was very chill and I'm sure this would be a great game to stream and just chat with chat. As usual, have a romantik day and take care.
Cheers slay, will do!
thanks to this game i now understand way better how terrain generation works, because yeah its realy similar !
Actually got a key from the developer yesterday, such a lovely game, so glad that it is blowing up
This really reminds me of "Islanders" which was just as relaxing. I watched JackSepticEye play Islanders a couple of times.
It reminds me to Townscaper
Both of those are on my list!
My favorite part was when you got worried about the boat.
Reminds me of a similar chill city building game, that was popular a year ago.
Islanders was the name of the game.
Islanders?
@@realtwovo yes
Very nice game too.
I assumed this would be related to Dorf Ortress
RCE: new game. also me: gets recommended the same game from 8 months ago from RCE
Here I go adding games to my wishlist again...
Its Written with a K because the Maker of the Game are From Berlin(Germany) and in Germany romantiC is romantiK
Just want to say HI, hoping you're having a great day !!
Thanks
@@blueingmatter3117 wtf did you really respond to your comment?!
@@Undice Sorry, I wasn't thinking
"Romantik" is written with "K" cause it's an German game. The word means romantic. It's nearly the same word. The first word "Dorf" means an smaller village
I hope creative mode is where you have unlimited tiles and no restrictions. Just making a board you find looks the best
Ah yes, Dorfromantik a german game played by a britisch engineer, only the best Things can be multiplied
My Highscore was 10.120 ^^
You need to try stormworks . It’s a fantastic game that is like besiege but it is much more powerful because it has a robust logic system
I NEED this game!
I’m about nine minutes into the video and if you don’t connect the two rivers I’m gonna pull my hair out.
Still got your hair?
I think the name is german and means somewhat like "village romance" or so.
5:03 it looks like africa and asia
Try out portal bridge constructor
This game is great. It's chill but also challenging. Watching your world grow as you progress is very satisfying too.
I immediately went on Steam and bought this game... I love the board game Carcassonne!
Nice, enjoy!
Its called village romance in english. Dorf romantik is german
9:44 "I'm Joe Biden and I approve this message."
thanks for the playthrough, this video was streaming on steam and made me buy it
Ah nice, that's good to know!
Sorry, but until you complete that achievement you are no longer an engineer. Them's the rules
Noooooooo!!!
Now games that REALLY you need to play are Besiege and maybe sid's mayer railroad (the latter's bit outdated but i'm sure an engeneer like you will like it)
5 minutes into the video and I've already gone and bought it lmao
Engineer doing locator job like we wouldn't notice.
1:11 "squares"
Am I the only one that REALLY wants to live here irl
i usually dont watch such a calming gameplay. but that... that was ASMRlike experience, with your gentle voice, that was perfect. keep it up m8!
Hexagons are the best
Hexagons are the bestagons
I was JUST thinking that this game reminds me of Carcassonne!
I never played the board game but I loved the Xbox live arcade game and the MP aspect too
Yeah this game would be a good choice to stream. Tho if you won't get the engineer we will bully you thoroughly:D
7:57 DorfDramatik reconstruction of the Evergreen cockup.
I’m British but your acsent is BRITISH
You kinda sound like josh and tobi from sidemen
Watched for about a minute
Sorry, had no time to waste - bought this game after you did 4th turn
similar to frostpunk as it is both "'chill''' and a city building
Whey
I absolutely hate that you placed a corn field in the middle of the damn city 8:20
Hi
Dort Romantik is german means City (smallone) romantic
RCE: Hello fellow engineers!

great video greetings from germany
more videos of this please.... like ur thought process...
Come back later today 😉
I'm absolutely certain I just saw someone use this video specifically, sped up, to advertise some awful looking mobile game. It was called valor something I think. I'll see if i can find more info for it.
This reminds me of carcassonne the board game!! I have to check this out!
Remarkable, I always get 40 tiles when starting the game, others get 30 tiles, how is that difference possible?
That's strange? Not sure on that one!
The title is german. And i am german too :D I think here are more german subscribers than you think.
Cool, hello Germans!
10:04 THE MOST SATISFAYING MOMENT IN THE GAME

Why is a german dev studio givin u a key... I mean i love it but why???
Btw im from germany too so greetings!!
I love this game, like Parkitect and Tetris had a lil baby.
It's called Dorf Romantik (with a k) because it's German. Dorf means village and Romantik is romance.
I thought the title was auto-translated to german but the title is actualy Dorfromantik.. What a beautiful title for a game :D
To reduce the op factor of the Mod why Not reduce points by 10 for every tile?
420th comment btw :D
my first time was 4800 after that maximum 2k ;D
Just saw this video used in an ad for some mobile game rip off, dunno if you gave permission but if not heads up they stealing your videos
"Dorfromantik" is german and means "Village Romace"
Play Polytopia although it’s a mainly a war game engineering plays a huge part it would mean alot of you if you were to play Polytopia
Seems like a fun and soothing game, until you need that one piece!
I swear this dude's voice sounds like the Text-to-Speech voice from moonbase alpha.
Dorfromantik Is German and means “Village romance”
Just saw a moblie game ad on youtube steal this video for a ad. Thought I recognized the voice used in it
"If you'd ever played Carcassonne..."

But I've been there.😝
Thank you for making this episode! The game looks really fun, I like it a lot based on what I've seen here!
