    more on 早抖:
    早 can also mean quick , quickly
    抖 means rest
    so 早抖 is to say goodnight, but also can tell people to go to bed quickly!

    These lessons are really good, I really enjoy it! I usually watch one lesson every two days, it takes me time to learn the Hanzis and I try to practice my words with my friends. I am just lost sometimes, I do not know whether you use the Yale or the Jyutping system to denote the characters. Whatever, it is really helpful, thank you! :)

    Hi miss amanda, how do you say good afternoon and good evening in cantonese? If we say “good afternoon” for afternoon and for evening is “good evening”?

    • @5minutecantonese
      @5minutecantonese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, in cantonese, we seldom say good afternoon. Only in formal situation or students to teachers. "午安" ng5 on1 means "good afternoon". We don't say good evening in cantonese. Formally, we'll say "nei5 hou2你好". Between friends, we'll just say hi or hello😉

      We seldom say good afternoon. Normally after "good morning". We'll only say hello or hi😁. Only students would say "good afternoon" to teachers. "ng5 on1" 午安,it's quite formal. We don't use it among friends.

      Thank you for your comment.
      Sorry for the confusion, these are my earlier videos. From lesson 1 to lesson 39. I mixed jyutping and yale as I throught it might be easier for english speaker who doesn't have time to study jyutping. I hope people at least try to speak without too much hassle.
      In the begining, I didn't expect there are so many people learning cantonese in a serious manner. I am actually happy to see that.
      So since lesson 39, I standardized all lesson to Jyutping.
      Thank you!
