I Lauza/Michael, this video is very special to me, Arco de São Jorge, the birth place of my dear father who died back in 2004, towards the end of the video when you (Michael) said "thank you to the people who built and maintain that trail, I felt honoured to be the grandson and son of two men that were part of that group of people, although we lived in Funchal, but my parents always took us on holiday brakes to Arco de São Jorge, magical place! and Ponta do Sol near you in Ribeira Brava, where my mother as born.
I've done that trail a couple of times, and as you said "although it looks frightening, but ACTUALY (Lauza!!!) is pretty good.
Where you left the car, is just 2 minutes from where my grandparents house use to be.
Tony im so glade Michael reflected about the workers who build those trails and also the the ones you can find all around the Island what a legacy and a give they left for us all to enjoy and a big investment for Madeira tourism it should be more appreciated by local authorities.
Thank you Tony for sharing your story! That’s amazing that your father and grandfather were part of building those amazing trails. I’m always fascinated about the engineering and enormous effort that must have been at the time those were built. All those levadas, trails and tunnels - so thankful 🙏
Arco São Jorge is where we live. So happy you found our village!
Also don’t show too many people the beautiful weather we have here. We try to tell everyone the north is cloudy so we can keep the nature and all the concrete buildings can be built in the “sunny” south hahah.

Nice video, thanks a lot. 😘 I've been there several times starting something around 2006 and the restaurant is one of our favourites in the north of this beautiful island. The Espatadas... a dream! 👍😀. Driving the old ER101 was really thrilling in the past, but now nearly impossible due to rockfall and officially blocked street. 😭

Cool video. We stayed in Arco de Sao Jorge in the very nice Pestana Quinta do Arco-resort last week. We also ate at the restaurant where you started your hike. We traveled by car along the North coast to Porto Moniz and happened to stop at the restaurant at Miradouro São Cristovão, where you ended your hike. We did see some paths, but had no idea we could've done this hike. Very nice.

Beautiful. We visited Madeira in 2012 and plan to go again next year. I'm on the lookout for hikes that people can do that suffer from a fear of heights/vertigo. This seems to be a good choice.

Such a delight to watch another superb video from beautiful Madeira! Ive been to that restaurant you visited on my first trip to the Island back in 2007 and remember how I wondered people climbing up to the opposite mountain.
On my second trip 2019 I wanted to re-visit but unfortunately I missed it by driving past the place in a bit of hurry. Now I know whats that place like, thank you so much :)

I remember doing this wonderful walk in the autumn of 2008 when I was the Saga Holidays representative at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel in Ponta Delgada. Exhilarating and very rewarding!

We have been wondering as well but after talking to a few hiking guides they said that the trail running shoes we have are just enough for the hikes we do.
@@LauzaAndMichael I know very well the Madeira I done a lot of hikes , and I'm from Madeira . I live Sintra Village 1.h 23 minutes from the castle and the place the main problem where the signposting of the paths not very good at all the council needs to improve them a lot . The Madeira hikes and paths are very well signpost and I thing that the Sintra council needs to learn something from Madeira . Enjoy Madeira

How do you not get a fine for leaving the car right on the street, wasn't it unsafe?
Parking was absolutely perfect and safe, was more concerned about the not maintained trail.
