I find one of the best stone bowl artifacts yet and it’s made out of a different material than I’m used to seeing. I also do some metal detecting in this one!
Cool stuff Ben! There's more of that bowl in that area. Heavy material like that doesn't move far. Hopefully you can find more of it. That old marble building is super cool.

I love it when I see new finds. I'm making a new display and I'm including the points I found at the hog wallows. I agree with Heartbreaker relics. There's more to be found. Go get em!
What state are you in. I live up n Capecod and it is loaded with Native American habitation sites. Unfortunately there are so many new houses getting put in recently that all the sites are getting destroyed and it is really awful to see all these tourists destroying the town’s history and not even knowing they are doing so. I really wish we had a better archeological program here. Well anyways I love what you do and thanks for posting. It makes me happy every time you do.
That’s very kind of you! I guess in a way, we’re all tourists, each generation building on the foundation the previous has laid. That’s the story of mankind. I reckon it’s alway been a sad thing to watch. Kind of like a kid watching the unstoppable tide erode the foundations of his sandcastle. That’s why I enjoy finding the pieces of buried history that I do. It’s a fuzzy snapshot of what once was. I live in the mountains of western NC by the way.
Don't know how far you are from the ridge valley mountains but that triangular artifact looks a lot like erwin/antietum quartzite... Grainy low grade white beach sand... Virginia dhr has a good description... Pretty sure the Erwin runs into Tennessee
That is some spot on identification there Tony! Much appreciated. I’ve done a bit of research and close looking and it does appear to be Erwin. I just knew it wasn’t local quartzite. I appreciate you adding to my knowledge.

I imagine your creeks are outflowing to other states so something like that was carried in which makes it even cooler... Look into USGS Erwin formation Tennessee... Greenish tints can be found on the nolichucky river... That would be a good story 😊
Got some points look like that one,was told they were rhyolite.even got the red highlights. Must have been a large heavy bowl!! The joy is in not knowing
It might be Mike. Rhyolite isn’t native to my area but I have found several rhyolite points. I’m used to that weathered pale exterior and dark gray interior…but not having seen a lot of it, this rough stuff might be a variant on it.
Love your videos. I'm just down the road from you in Asheville and do some river walking. I found what I think is part of a "Salt Bowl" with animal pattern on it. Sure thing. I’ll give you my honest opinion…although it might not be what you want to hear. Usually when folks approach me with items they have found that “seem” to have a design or pattern…it’s completely natural. But I’m hoping for the day I see the real deal. @@HistoryHoundDetecting Thanks! This is a definite repeating pattern. Stylized Deer Heads, Birds and Squirrel/Rabbit? There is also evidence of fibrous reeds used to stretch/mold the clay on that would disappear when fired. It would be a big vessel. Ill get some good pics to you.

Recently I found two parts of the same blade in the same area. Do you ever look more extremely in the areas that you find piece to find more?
The point you show at 10:26 with a notch midway twd the bottom, I have a blade that I found out in Graham NC w the same notch.
I was thinking that notch might have been plow damage. I could be wrong though. Sure wish the rest of it was there!
