    Great review! Is the hinges on both exactly the same or are the different?

      They're slightly different. They both look the same, but the Gewa Air's hinges feel a little sturdier.

    The Pure case can contain a Bonmusica shoulder rest?

    • @GreatViolinCases
      @GreatViolinCases  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, no. The velcro strap for shoulder rest in the Pure case isn't long enough to reach around a Bon Musica shoulder rest. You can see the strap at 4:23 in the video.

    For occasional air travel and daily walk in the snow, can the Pure work OK? any possible of water leaking?

    • @GreatViolinCases
      @GreatViolinCases  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Pure cases are extremely water-resistant. There's a seal that goes around the opening of the case to prevent water from seeping in. As for temperature resistance, it is quite temperature resistant, since the shell is made of plastic. It doesn't absorb temperatures like metallic cases do.

    Anybody with a gewa case got the lock broken? It does not open when you set the numbers...

    For the Air Case, is it possible to remove the bag for scores or is it fixed?

    • @GreatViolinCases
      @GreatViolinCases  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The music bags are removable. They are attached via buttons. Though it's not recommended to move it too often. Overtime, that button can rip through the cloth of the bag if it's being pulled too often.

    If I'm traveling with my family...can I take it with me on the airplane? I don't want to have to skip practice during holidays. :(

      You should be able to. Technically, the case exceeds carry-on regulations (the bow itself exceeds the maximum allowed length). But the vast majority of airlines are find with you taking the case on the plane. We haven't heard of any flight attendant rejecting violin cases as carry-ons. Just arrive early, and if they ask, say it's protecting a valuable wooden instrument that would break under harsh temperature conditions. So it can't be checked in.

    To protect a 1K violin which case would you recommend? The violin will need to be "crated" to be moved along with household goods and cross the ocean in a boat.

    • @GreatViolinCases
      @GreatViolinCases  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how much sentimental value you have for this $1k violin. We would recommend the Gewa Pure violin cases. The shaped cases are around $240. However, if you don't want to buy a case that is 25% value of the violin, we would recommend the Howard Core CC430 cases for $200. There are $100 cases on amazon, but a lot of protection is sacrificed. It may not do the best job in protecting your instrument while it's being shipped.

    No hygrometer?

    • @GreatViolinCases
      @GreatViolinCases  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct. It's strange. But a lot of the modern cases (including Bam Hightech) do not feature hygrometers anymore. Most seem to get their own digital hygrometer, as those are generally much more accurate than hygrometers that come with cases.
