I recently found you, and i can't thank you enough for all you do for us Audiophiles. The amount of work you put into these reviews, keeping the Gdocs and website up to date, absolutely incredible.
Nice review Sir. I ordered the Legato 2 days ago and i'm just waiting for it to arrive; will probably take 5-7 days to get here. The Legato is really unique in what it's trying to accomplish. Instead of trying to be the typical iem, it instead tries to reproduce the experience of listening to a home speaker system- which has a very different acoustics compared to an iem. I think this is the reason why most iems don't want to try to reproduce or replicate the sound of hi-fi home stereo systems, because one has to consider the behavior of sound travelling through the air, as well as other factors. Any ways, i'm just really looking forward to hearing how it sounds; i kinda grew up at the tail-end of the era of ghetto blasters, boom boxes, and d.i.y. turn-table and speaker systems. I like the way you did your presentation Sir; and yeah, i just became subscriber #163.
Firstly, I want to thank you for another amazing review. I cannot express enough what a huge fan of this channel I am. I truly appreciate all the time and effort you put in to making these reviews. I wanted to say that first because I did not want my next comment to seem like a criticism. I missed the likert scale rating you gave at the end of each section in other reviews. You basically did sum it up by saying things such as “adequate.” However, for what it is worth I still prefer 4/5 rating. Take that with a grain of salt, you cannot please everyone. Great work. I highly look forward to more reviews!
just discovered your channel, i like your reviews, instant subscribe. May i ask what would be a natural progression form the Legato? what would be an upgrade?
Ouch, that's a difficult one. Your best bet would be the IEMs from FatFreq Maestro series (fatfreq.com/collections/maestro-series). Other than that, no one makes IEMs that are deliberately bassy and analogue like 7hz. If money is no problem and you can audition, have a look at FirAudio XE6. It's a love-it-or-hate-it situation, but that IEM is something special if you love a lot of midbass.
They are roughly on the same level, and also on the same level as my desktop DAC+amp FiiO K7. The M6 ultra has just a touch warmer overall tonality, so it seems to have a bit extra depth to the soundstage. G5 is shallower but just a touch wider. Ironically, I find that Apple dongle as DAC with G5 as pure amp outperforms both G5 and M6 Ultra. I like soundstage depth and dynamic, so whatever Topping does to the DAC stage is not working for me.
@@IE-Gems Thank you so much. It's one of the things l'm finding out too,the amp stage is the only improvement in these expensive daps otherwise the dongles are at the same level if not better. It's better to get the dongles and a separate amp for when you need more power. Thanks.
I have both and the Legato has a lot more bass overall. The MM has a lot of sub bass but is lacking in mid bass as a basshead set and also has a bit too much gain in the upper mids and lower treble to be a bit harsh sometimes. The Legato has a smoother approach to the mids and treble that balances out the treble nicely. I do recommend a silver cable and open bore tips like the JVC spiral dots to help enhance the treble a bit more if you like. Fatfreq has since released the Scarlet Mini (mine is in the way in January) and I think this is what Fatfreq originally set out to do. It has even more sub bass than the Legato (and maybe anything else on the market) and more mid bass than the MM and has a smoother approach to the upper mids and adds a bit of upper treble extension to balance out all that bass. It cost about 5x as the Legato though. People are raving about it and if you can afford it I would look into it. If you’re a basshead, I feel the Legato is a must and is extremely hard to beat at its price point around $100. Nice review IEG.
I have never heard any IEM in the T series. It's hard to say whether something is an upgrade, unless you are clear about what you want to improve. I have seen people hating $$$$ IEMs because they do not offer what they need.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad to help.

Thank you a lot for your support! I hope that the Legato would work well for you!
@@IE-Gems it's been my daily driver since it arrived😊
Thank you for the review, I have already ordered but was a bit confused. But now the way you have explained it seems nothing to worry about 🙏
Great opening. Very fun!

When did you start TH-cam?
I Subscribed!
Can you make a video of the FiiO JD7 review as well?
Thanks for subscribing! Good idea. I might do a compilation video of some budget IEMs. Do you enjoy JD7?

Nice review! How does the topping G5 compare to the shanling m6 ultra detail retrieval wise? l can see you have both. Thank you.

How it is compare fatfreq maestro mini
I wish I know :)) Never heard a FatFreq before, though I expect the FatFreq to be crisper in the upper midrange and treble, if the graph is true.

Is the Legato an Upgrade to the T3+?
