Thanks for the video. You do a great job of playing a short but appropriate part for each guitar. Just enough to get the idea, then move on - nice playing too. I wish you'd had the screen on the pickups page the whole time... Wait, you just changed it (3 minutes in) - good idea :)
Hi Rob this is great - I just got a JTV and am a little disappointed with the 2+ FW. Your edits seem to have brought it back to life. I would love to get hold of the sounds but can't find a link do you still have them available?
Great video and better sounds!!!!!! I can´t just believe how good are the acoustic guitars. Is it an effect of the Axe Fx or are they that good? The electrics are terrific as well. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!
Hy buddy, nice tones, the first acustic guitar in video is original or you modified in Wb? I found curious because in your video the martin is sounding very good and I do not like J200, with me it's the opposite, the J200 sounds great and Marttin are thin. thanks
Nice guitar and software. My only consern is that will this guitar stand test of time. PC's operating system will change over time and will there be replacement parts example the battery.
Ok,, thank you so much, I use alot of amp modeling software like, Positive Grid's BIAS software, or like LIne 6 Amp modeler, Guitar Rig, TH3 by Overloud. Once I make changes or modifications to the guitar, can I plug the JTV into my ipad using the Apogee Jam interface. I plug the JTV into the Apogee and then the Apogree into the ipad. I think it should work right? Thanks.
+Bergg Uscha as the guitar is the source you're tweaking, this won't work... these kind of things works only if you're tweaking a preset on your multifx
Hey this is great! I just ordered the JTV-59 in black. I have some questions. Do I really need an amp to use this software or can you give me an example of of which playback software I can use on my laptop? Please I am new to this. How much hard drive space and GB of ram I need. Is there a version of workbench for the iPad? How much is workbench? Sorry for the many questions. Thanks.
+Angel Martinez Workbench is free, you don't need a lot of space… I used an Axe-Fx to process the sound, but you can use an amp or any digital multifx for that
This is the Variax HD editor, it only works with Variax JTV HD firmware (2.02 and above) so if you don't have a JTV guitar with the latest firmware, you can't use it
this is the JTV Variax software, it is for the JTV Variax and nothing else. It controls the guts of the JTV Variax guitar. If you don't have one you can use it
Any suggestions on getting it to track better when using a down tuning and palm muting? Whats the settings on your main heavy guitar tone? i got the JTV89 the other day to try it and its just slightly off for me. Doesn't really feel real when tuning down and digging into some muting.
+thibderob I'm going to return it. For some reason if I go down a half step it sounds ok but then any of the drop settings are adding a weird harmony tone to all the strings. Cords all sound fine but I have a picky ear and the muting sounds unnatural. That glitch in all the drop tunings really bothers me though. Example- the Eb setting sounds fine say palm muting the A. Then click to Drob Db and that same A that should be in effected has some weird harmony tone with it for no reason. Does it on ever "Drop" tuning.
First , Great Video and hope to watch more. I bought a variax 500 mint condition ,1 month ago and love it .. also bought a pod xt live in order to add some patches. well first thing was to upgrade firmware according to line 6 Monkey. I had the original version firmware in both . got it to flash memory in both and all went well , i got the operation flash memory successful ok .. Now i lost all my factory presets in both the pod xt live and variax 500 , the guitar sounds the same in all the selections . re flashed several time and same thing .. called Line 6 and tech guy says he never heard of that problem. Maybe this is the wrong platform to ask for help but i'm desperate,, any body know where i can go for help? Help .
cast390 Rofl, if anything, the acoustics are the best, and sound better than an electric acoustic. It's the exact same technology, they both use piezos.
So freak this can happen!!! Y bought a guitar, a Variax acoustic 700 like the photo in here, it was used but like new. In order to make some adjustments I tried to use L6 monkey and Variax workbench. The inscription number was not there on Variax guitar, look everywhere, on the inside, open the inside back to see if I find it, No number on guitar!!!!! and I read on-line that many of this guitars a big amount comes from factory without the number registration... Is not my fault then. Why line 6 ask for it, if the guitars are old and comes without number????? is impossible to work the guitar now even though y have one. Neither work bench neither Monkey can be used if you don't put the registration number that I dont have. What a criteria of Line 6 manangers?????? I have many L6 products this guitar is going to be my last, also my friends never going to buy a Line 6 product on the future because this is not acceptable, a selfishness like this with the owners of Line 6 products.. selfishness and stupidity.. now I have the guitar but I am completely annoyed.. cant believe in this L6 policy
I don't know how to connect my guitar to the free version of this program, Can anyone help me with this? I already have a Line HD400 Pod, an guitar and a speaker.
If your POD is connected in USB to your computer, you can connect to your POD using the special cable, or connect to the computer directly using the Variax USB interface. That's what I do, I don't have a POD. The software is free btw, there's no commercial version :)
sil derksen Do you have a JTV or an older generation Variax ? This cable comes with all JTVs. It looks like a network cable. It plus just near the standard socket jack on the guitar
Thanks for the video. You do a great job of playing a short but appropriate part for each guitar. Just enough to get the idea, then move on - nice playing too.
I wish you'd had the screen on the pickups page the whole time... Wait, you just changed it (3 minutes in) - good idea :)
Hi, thanks. I use a tone match block of a real acoustic guitar on the Axe Fx to help the acoustic guitar sounding more "natural"
sounds really good!
Thanks! Good job
I already have an acoustic dude. Thanks for your concerns about my sound :p
Possibly because I use more compression on the acoustic Axe II preset
Hi Rob this is great - I just got a JTV and am a little disappointed with the 2+ FW. Your edits seem to have brought it back to life.

It's original but I'm using an Axe Fx preset which is enhancing it with a tonematch block and some EQ
Didn't expect to hear an alter bridge riff.
is it correct that the acoustic sounds were not as loud as the other models?
nice , im my jtv this model sound bad , martin 1 and 3 . have you ever tried to transform the acoustic 12 in 6 ? are great, better than martins
Nice guitar and software. My only consern is that will this guitar stand test of time. PC's operating system will change over time and will there be replacement parts example the battery.
Dilly Vesper its a good idea to maintain an older machine
you can tell me that EQ and frequencies you used to let martins sound good ? i already tried everything and nothing
Hi, nice video!! :)) I have a question... is this software free? :/
Great job. Sounds great. I have been juggling with my jtv and axe but this blows my mind. Can you post the axe presets? Would like to give it a try.
Hello, thanks ! I can't paste links here but my presets are on the Axe Fx forum, search for Fremen V11.05 presets
thibderob Could you share your patches for JTV.
Andrzej Pajak Done ! Link is in "About" above.
Yes I did, they didn't work as good with my Axe Variax Acoustic preset
Is this working with the Shuriken? The Shuriken is not on the list of the website.

Hi I just got the JTV-59, i haven't hooked it up yet. Will this software work it?
+Angel Martinez yes it will, unless you have an older (pre-HD) firmware
Ok,, thank you so much, I use alot of amp modeling software like, Positive Grid's BIAS software, or like LIne 6 Amp modeler, Guitar Rig, TH3 by Overloud. How to loop a phrase and tweak while it's playing? Is there a looper function?
+Bergg Uscha as the guitar is the source you're tweaking, this won't work... these kind of things works only if you're tweaking a preset on your multifx
+thibderob tnx! Then longer sessions ahead...

Do you need a Variax JTV guitar to use this program, or could you also use a normal stratocaster guitar.
this is the JTV Variax software, it is for the JTV Variax and nothing else. It controls the guts of the JTV Variax guitar. If you don't have one you can use it

+schlagdog I never palm mute on down tuning... I down tune with the Axe-Fx, it tracks better !

witch special cable if I may ask? an after that where I have to plug in my guitar? in the POD or in the Computer/laptop
sil derksen Do you have a JTV or an older generation Variax ? This cable comes with all JTVs. It looks like a network cable. It plus just near the standard socket jack on the guitar
do you also have the program, if you do could you send me a picture of your computer witch is connected to a POD?
sil derksen
I don't have a POD
i think you use waaaay to much compression on that sound...... takes away the dynamics ...
Those acoustics sound fake and thin,do yourself a favor sell that POS jtv and buy a real acoustic.
can this run on windows xp?
